Thank You so much for taking the time to show how to make the dress!!! It is a HUGE help I am making matching dress for my girls for fourth of July!!! Thank you again and keep up the amazing work!!!
Hi, thanks for watching and subscribing. The distanc between the rows is usually about 5 inches or so - depends on the person you are making it for. It is adjustable even when you are finished making it.
SHould take about 25-50 yards of 6 inch tulle depending upon the length of the dress and the waistband and such...Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Hi, thanks for watching and subscribing. As far as the dresses go for teens, the process is the same :) measure the elastic right up under their arms and add 2 or 3 inches maybe a bit more, just so it's comfortable but dosent slide off. Then measure a second piece of elastic under the bust, add 2 or 3 inches so it dosent slide and is not too tight. Measure the length from the top of the elastic past the second elastic band, and above or past the knee depending on the length you want the dress .
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments! Yes Wow, I had not thought of other materials. I know you can get chiffon on a roll in strips...Yes it could be done possibly in other fabrics.. feel free to post pics on sugarplumdolls of any fabulous outfits that you make...
I would suggest maybe with a little drop of glue add one feather per strip...send or post me a pic of what you have seen and I will try to show you how! Thanks!
Hi ! Thanks for asking, watching and subscribing. i have only used Just one strip of tulle and it makes it makes a pretty fluffy dress! You could use two and see how much fluffier it makes it! Thanks for stopping by!
Hi, thanks for watching and subscribing! For a 31 inch long tutu dress - your strips will need to be about 62 inches , because remember you will be folding it in half for the strips. Sounds like you have about 225 yards which may be enough, but if not you could buy more and just return it if the store will let you . Hope this info helps!
You have to measure the child or you can measure up with a dress from the store for different child sizes. The distance from the top and middle row of the elastic is about 4-6 inches. Please post pics on Facebook at sugarplumdollsfriends of what you make. I'd love to see your finished tutus! THanks for stopping by! Please subscribe!
Hi, thanks for watching and subscribing. I would probably go to a craft shop or party place or bridal shop and look for very soft tulle. YOu might also try some stores online. The tulle I use is from a company called paper mart .com it is kinda soft, but I have purchased in some store in the past - some ultra soft tulle. Hope this info helps.
Yes, and just make the strips longer - the length you want your skirt to be. Please post pics on Facebook at sugarplumdollsfriends of what you make. I'd love to see your finished tutus! THanks for stopping by! Please subscribe!
Hi, thanks for watching and asking. You will need to measure their waist and around where their underarms. Then measure how long you want each dress to be. I suggest buying your tulle online at papermart . It takes about (1) 100 yard roll which is under $10 to make an average dress for a 5 year old. I hope this info helps and finds you in time.
Thank you for watching! Glad I could help! Yes I think you could make it for a baby just make sure it is not too tight or scratchy! I have seen them on babies in photos....too cute.. Thanks again for stopping by! Please subscribe! Feel free to post pics on sugarplumdolls com
THen decorate to you hearts delight! I will try to make a video for the larger size dress but I would not want you waiting on me :) good luck with everything, feel free to ask question, post pics on my Facebook page sugarplumdolls2012
Hi, Thanks for asking! It's just a simple loop, like the knots you use to make the skirt itself. Hope that info helps... be sure to visit sugarplum dolls . com
On my channel clothespindolls look for the video that shows you how to put the ribbon on the waistband, it is the same technique. Thanks for stopping by, please subscribe.
Hi, thanks for watching and subscribing. For a 5 year old or infant I have gone to the children's dept in stores and measured the lengths. My average tutu length is about 12 inches for babies it's about half of that. Hope this info helps.
I suggest going to the papermart . com website and pick out your favorite 6 inch roll colors - their shipping is pretty fast. Or you could check your local craft stores. I like the rolls better than if you get it in bolts like fabric. Let me know how it goes... join us on sugarplumdolls . com

I just wanted to say how fabulous this video is and the dress too easy but beautiful. Now I wonder if you could tell me I have dress net tulle is it better to have the soft non holey tulle? Yours looks so soft where mine looks ok but is stiff and scratchy :-/ I will await your reply before I make any more xxx thanks again for sharing my granddaughter is going to be so spoiled with lots of dresses also Christmas surprises for a Childrens Charity I know.
Thank you so much for your tutorials! They're very practical and easy to understand, I love them :) How wide are your green strips of tulle? Because they seemed thinner than the strip of tulle you get in a roll.

Thank you for such a great tutorial.....I've been making tutu's for almost two years now and have never found the right video to help me with the dress. Yours helped me out so much. Thank you again
ok...how much tulle do i need for a new born? and can i use a crochet head band for the top elastic piece so that i can tripple or double layer the colors?
I'm Baack! :) lol! Had to watch again and again! I have a Question please..is the chest measurement the same as the waist measurement? Idk if u said and I missed it sorry if u did. Oh and do you show us how we can embellish them like I am making one for my little great niece for Valentine's day she will be 5mo then so I want to add some hearts and stuff, any ideas? Should I make it white with read ribbon up top & red hearts somehow? YOU have got to be the BEST teacher I've found hands down! thnx
Wow. I want to try this! I am not a crafty person, but this doesn't look TOO difficult. lol. Where did you get the elastic bands? I want to make a tinkerbell dress for my daughter's first birthday!
I have a question, I'm looking at making this for my 1 year old for her Halloween costume. How do I add in different colors instead of having it be all solid colors? Would I just change the colors every other one?? I'm just curious what the best way is to get a pretty layered colored effect? Also, how do I figure out her size with the elastic as obviously 20 inches around would be way too big. Thanks!
Your video is so perfect, the way you show is very nice and slow, I have been working on my first dress and got stocked on the part to tie around the waist, so thank you for the video
I've watched all the videos, but it doesnt seem to include how to make the neck straps. Can you post a video showing how to make that, or tell me on here? I am wanting to make this for my daughter for Halloween.Thank you.
