I've heard that a lot of Christmas tree skirts are treated with a lot of chemicals that are intended to give it flame retardant properties, so be careful if you wear it directly on your skin.
I'll be honest, when she started popping up on my algorithm I was annoyed, and honestly, kinda judgy - probably, surely, out of jealousy. But holy shit, now I'm in love with this girl, just SO freaking witty, charming and like, and I don't mean this in a snarky way, but surprisingly self-aware for someone so obviously privileged. I feel like so many girls who grow up to be beautiful and popular tend to hide, or even suppress, their nerdy or goofy souls, maybe in fear that if people saw that part of them they'd just see the weird kid we've all been at some time. Society tells us that we should strive for clean, polished perfection, that the purpose for a woman is to be looked at, for our beauty to be the symbol of a mans success. Being funny, goofy, self-deprecating, human, those things are reserved for men, MAYBE for girls who are deemed ugly, but never for pretty girls. At the same time, society judges pretty girls for "just being pretty girl". It's maddening. And this is clearly a tangent, I'm just trying to say that I love seeing girls daring to be both, daring to be everything and nothing. To like shiny things and be a sarcastic smart-ass. God knows the world is so, so f*cking cruel against girls who aren't pretty, but the world sure isn't kind to pretty girls either, the expectations are so high, and the frame is so small. Drawing outside the lines and being whatever the f*ck we want is the only way we win. Might be a weird short to get so inspired by, but here we are. If I feel this way, then there's surely a bunch of non-men looking in feeling inspired to bravery too, and yeah, I just think it's absolutely lovely.
I have a Christmas cape I wear every year that's actually a tree skirt. It's FAO Schwartz. It's reversible. One side is red velvet, the other is red and white candy swirl faux fur. It's amazing.
