I am a Christian and love God with all my heart, but I am also addicted to marijuana. I have been fighting this for a long time. Those who say you can't get addicted to that are just wrong. You can. I am. I have been begging, praying, pleading, crying, everything possible to be released from this. I've not made it longer than 3 days at any point. Please pray for me. I need to let this go. I'm broken every single time because I know I am disappointing and angering God. He has every part of my life, except this and I do not know why this won't stop.

Holy Spirit power is needed to overcome sin and partake of Jesus divine nature.
That's why Jesus said we must be born again, born of the Spirit.
      See John 3, v. 1-8.
      (Acts 1, v. 8)
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;"
      (Galatians 5, v. 16)
"I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh."
In the name of Jesus, receive the power of His Spirit and be free.

If you want to break the addiction, you must do a few things. #1- Pray, go to church every time the doors are open, read the bible. #2 Look up the show The Chosen and watch every episode. #3 Separate yourself from people that are using and or selling weed AND remove them from your life, cut off all contact. #4- Find something, ANYTHING( that is not destructive) to keep your mind occupied the whole time, so you are not sitting around thinking about wanting to get high. Examples- Book reading for entertainment, camping, fishing, hunting, Golf, bicycling, motorcycles, backyard farming, video games, etc. #5. You can also and should have more than one interest to keep your mind occupied. # 6. Don't give up the fight. After a week it gets easier, after 30 days its even easier. The first week will be the hardest. But accept that its going to suck and face it head on. You are stronger with God than you think you are.

Im 27 I started using marijuana when I was 14. It was a struggle for me too, even after I became born again. Don’t underestimate the power of the free will God has given you. “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” (1 Cor. 10:13)
Go on a water fast for 3 days. Remember all the times as a kid you didn’t need marijuana to feel good or to have fun. Remember the freedom your conscience will feel towards God when you give it up. God bless

It’s an incredibly evil world now. It’s a huge undertaking to take Christ into your life; something you are not really equipped to understand when you are young. Sin is inevitable due to our very nature; and for some Christians persistent and grave sin is a reality. It is imperative that one seeks forgiveness AND repents (resolve to change our ways) before it’s too late. The future for this world is utterly terrifying and my hope is that God will intervene very very soon to deliver his children by His Son.

The Holy Spirit is teaching me how to rely more on Him. And although I feel like it’s going to kill me at times it doesn’t. Also I think of the treasure that God has for me if the enemy is trying so hard to keep me in bondage… may we all be over-comers by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony….fight the good fight of faith it’s the only one worth fighting…

Being saved is a future expectation. People who are saved do not die. People are still dying.
(Matthew 24:13) But the one who has endured to the end will be saved.

You could say that you can repent but you will still sin when you slip or unknowingly. Bible says that every sin is willful. I'm so confused, guilt and shame makes me feel horrible, I don't know what is sin and what is not. Will people who smoke cigars go to hell? Who overeat? Who masturbate? Who looks at women? 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
I am praying for you, you can overcome 🙏🏻

In 1 John it says that if we say we have no sin we are liars and the truth is not in us. This means that christians ARE sinners, BUT forgiven sinners. Once you grapple with the reality that as a forgiven sinner nothing, absolutely nothing can seperate you crom the One who died for you. Sinning is a choice between dying to self or living for Jesus and this will take your whole life to learn, BUT He who began a good work in you will bring to completion at His coming!!!! Do not despair, He will never leave you or forsake you.

We all lived in willful sin before we repented and accepted Jesus as our LORD now.
      (1 John 3, v. 6-10)
"Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother."

Are you saying you've never, ever sinned after becoming a believer? These passages reflect our sinless spiritual standing in Christ who is seated in Heaven with the Father, however as we labor against the flesh on this side of Heaven, we are still living in our mortal bodies and will sin in deed or thought. Romans 12 reminds us that we can be transformed (action, verb) by submitting our wills over as we strive to live the life that Christ has placed IN US by His Holy Spirit.

Jesus said sin no more. Paul said those born of the Spirit do not practice sin.
John said those born of God can NOT sin.
Sadly, most claiming faith in Jesus do not agree so they teach contrary saying
      'you will sin.'
      WHY DOES SCRIPTURE SAY
      "IF"?
(1 John 2, v. 1), "My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may NOT sin.
And IF anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."
(1 John 5, v. 16), "IF anyone sees his brother sinning a sin..."
(James 5:15), "The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and IF he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him."
(Matthew 5, v. 30), Jesus said, "And IF your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell."
(Hebrews 10, v. 26), "For IF we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,"

For the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 (The word death in this verse means eternal separation from God in hell).
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Isaiah 1:18
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures. 1Corinthians 15:3-8
In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:14
For by grace ye are saved, through faith; and not of yourselves.
It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
I do not frustrate the grace of God, for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Galatians 2:21

I honestly think the word "All" applies to me when I read "All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God." Heaven is sin free. "My Kingdom is of the next world, not this one." For me this clearly says I am always a sinner in this world. But most think Jesus was wrong and they try to build "the next world" in this one. Just my opinion. No better than yours.
It is one thing to try to make this a better place by not sinning as you understand sin. But, just for me, to think I can be sin free in this world is risking my soul. Judgment is in the next life, not yours to make in this life to my understanding. Perhaps I'm wrong and a person can judge themselves in this life and let God know they are going to Heaven because they want to that is that. I suspect that is God's decision and not mine. Others on this list say the same thing in different words.

"Can a true Christian live in sin and still go to heaven" is an oxymoron. The answer is not yes or no. The answer is that if any person is practicing sinning they are not a true Christian. 1John 3:9 and Luke 9:23
Let us not be fooled! We do not want to be one of those who will be turned away on that day when men stand before God. The way is narrow, and the road is straight, and FEW be that find it.
Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Verse 22 MANY will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Verse 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Matt 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it.
Our sin has set us all on the road to hell and no amount of good will fix the sin we have done. We have ALL sinned. It is not about the type of sin or how much sin. It is about the fact that we have sinned. For that reason we all need a Savior.

If we want forgiveness for our sin and peace with God. If we want to escape eternal hell. If we want to go to heaven we must understand the following. We DO NOT get saved (go to heaven), get right with God, forgiven, by being good, by being religious, by just believing in God, by praying a prayer, being baptized, asking or accepting Jesus into our hearts, accepting Jesus as our personal Saviour, confessing our sins, joining a church, cleaning up our lives, doing penance, taking the bread and the wine, or doing all these things accumulative.
Salvation is a gift that is given to those who repent and come to faith. Eph. 2:8,9

Salvation takes repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Acts 20:21. testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Make no mistake. We cannot be a friend of Christ and remain a rebel against God and unless we repent we remain a rebel. The word repent, from the Greek word “metanoia”, means a change of mind or direction.
God is not receiving those who almost or kind of repents. It is like the word About-face which is a 180 degree turn. We turn from not wanting God fully in our lives to willfully surrendering to Him to lead our lives.

When any person comes to the place where they are broken over their sin toward God to the point that they want to get right with God no matter what it will cost them they are in a state/spirit of repentance toward God. Luke 14:33 Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. The repentant heart would walk away from anything or any one to get right with God.
We then take that willing repentant heart we have towards God and place it on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Master, because He paid the price for our sin, and that becomes faith. At that moment God’s grace through Christ is freely applied to us and we are born again, saved from eternal hell and sealed by the Spirit so that we will never again return to the practice of sinning. 1John 3:9,10.

Our first command after salvation is to be baptized.
Repentance of sin is the result of the new birth/salvation and will be part of the sanctification process and our new life with the Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 2:10. While we may sin from time to time after salvation it will never again be our practice 2Cor. 5:17, 1John 3:9,10.

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

REV. 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
It all boils down to are we sorry/broken enough over our sins against God and do we want to get our hearts right with Him or not. Let us be sure that tomorrow does not belong to us.

DTBM contradicts itself by saying a believer can't lose their salvation and then adds 'true' believer living in sin to the very end of their life will not go to heaven which means you can lose your salvation. Salvation is a free gift of God and it is not about you or how you live your life. What is born again is the spirit. Believers still have two natures. The new nature is the spirit that is born of God and does not sin and therefore is able to go to heaven. The old nature is still the flesh that you are in until you die.

If we are “once saved always saved”, then who is God warning all throughout scripture? Does God really need to warn those who were really never in danger of losing salvation? Likewise, does God need to warn those who are not His and will never be saved anyway? What about those who take the mark of the beast? God warns those people that they are eternally lost if they do so. Doesn’t that mean that they could be saved if they don’t take the mark? What about those that hold grudges and refuse to forgive? God said our sins won’t be forgiven if we refuse to forgive others. I have a lot of issues with this doctrine because I can’t find it in the scriptures. I do, however, meet lots of Baptists who live sinful lives because all fear of God has been removed from their conscience by this horrible teaching.

I said quit trying to quit. Instead pray that God would deliver you from smoking. When God's people were in bondage, God sent a deliverer.
Within a few days God delivered them, and they were through smoking.
I have known people that weren't convicted (by God) of smoking and enjoyed it (to their own detriment) without it affecting their own faith. If it bothers you pray for Jesus to deliver you.
When I got saved God delivered me from alcoholism... instantly. But He didn't deliver me from smoking pot. I think today He wanted to see if I wanted to be delivered. When I realized it was contrary to God for me to smoke pot, I asked God to deliver me and purposed in my heart I wanted to quit and then He delivered me. That was in 1998 and I haven't wanted it (either) since.

It is an invitation to better understand Heavenly Father's plan and follow Him. In the New Testament, the Greek word for perfect means complete, whole, or fully developed, having reached an end-goal. Jesus Christ invites us to strive for that kind of perfection. And He alone can help us to reach it-eventually.

His exposition on Esau make a great point.
No person on this earth has a guarantee of salvation if they repent. Even sincerely with tears.
    Try it.
Sincerely repent to God. Ask Him to help and deliver you.
If you are not immediately delivered then God has refused your repentance and nothing you do from this point on will make any difference.
If you can't stop sinning even after asking for God's help its because your are forsaken and God will not hear any plea you make going forward.
The Bible and Christ are now forever useless to you.
Your screams in Hell are all you have to look forward to now.
You have God's word on it.
    Thanks for the teaching John!

    • @matthewkinsey9044
      @matthewkinsey9044 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@hypnotank Not my logic, I'm just reiterating the point Pastor John made about Easu seeking repentance and being refused. The Bible didn't say Esau "pretended" to repent or Esau "lied" about repenting. In fact the Bible qualifies the sincerity of Easu's repentance that it was " with tears".
      Easu meant it.
      God refused it.
Since " all have sinned and fallen short" there isn't one person in this comment section to include yourself who is a greater or lesser sinner than Esau was.
If God refused Easu 's sincere repentance...
It's possible he can refuse anyone's.
      This is simple deduction.
Roman's 9:15 " For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."
Of course the inverse of God's statement here would also necessarily be true and that fact is bourne out by God's dealing with Easu.

      @hypnotank 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@matthewkinsey9044 Esau did not seek repentance, he wept because of the realization he gave away his blessing trivially and learned there was no more for him. In fact, his "repentance" soon turned into rage, seeking murderous actions - further proving it was never genuine in the first place. Tears mean nothing if they aren't genuine or based off anger/sorrow/loss - which the bible is crystal clear about. If you have any doubt about Esaus character take a look at the rest of Genesis and it summarized in Hebrews 12:16-17
As for the rest of your post
"If you are not immediately delivered then God has refused your repentance and nothing you do from this point on will make any difference" This is simply untrue and not biblical, there is nothing on the time duration let alone immediate deliverance - there is no perceivable way for one to ascertain they are delivered in that moment. Abraham, Moses, David, Paul, Peter and countless others sinned after encountering God either through Cloud, Christophany, prophet etc. The ENTIRE congregation of Israel sinning and repenting and being rescued by God is a theme throughout the entire Bible. Israel sinned after literally being led out of Egypt and through the wilderness after all the signs and miracles God did.
"If you can't stop sinning even after asking for God's help its because your are forsaken and God will not hear any plea you make going forward"
"The Bible and Christ are now forever useless to you."
"Your screams in Hell are all you have to look forward to now."
This is completely false, and there again is no scripture that says someone will never sin after asking for God's help. We are all sinners and born into it, it is the entire reason that Jesus shed his blood. Your message is bleak and it's unbiblical and you should remove it to be honest. Anyone believing on the Lord for their help, the rock and salvation "the sick" are the exact ones Christ came to rescue - you're stating a false gospel of works thinking anyone can be sinless like Christ while on this earth.

Your wrong friend and adding meaning where the Bible dosent.
God's word says Esau sought repentance. You ( not the Bible) said he didn't
The Bible says he sought that repentance with tears. You sir ( not the Bible) say those tears weren't real.
You also falsely claim his repentance immediately turned to rage. Another fallacy you made up without even reading the text. The Bible never states when Esau repented. Only that he did. It would be odd that he repented BEFORE Jacob's deception considering he went to his father with the venison assuming he would receive the blessing. He immediately went to thoughts of murder when he found out he was decived.
So he didn't repent before the deception and not immediately after. Obviously this occured during the 14 years Jacob was with Laban. Your just making stuff up or regurgitating other preaching you've heard.
You have zero contextual evidence for either of your opinions you expressed ( his repentance or his sincerity). You NEED his tears and repentance to be false or YOU have a big doctrinal problem that touches your own salvation.
The fact is, the Bible plain states Esau sought repentance and God rejected him. It just as plain in the Hebrew.
I dont believe in sinless perfection this side of the grave and was speaking tongue and cheek about John's doctrinal position on repentance. You may need to adjust your sarcasm detector.
I reject both legalism and antinomianism as well as attempts to couple the two like Pastor John does.
Salvation by grace, through faith ALONE.
No works are required before and non are required after like the post salvation works crowd here preach.

@@matthewkinsey9044 I did provide contextual evidence, we can disagree on Esau's tears, when I said he didn't repent I meant more that it was hollow as his tears were "bitter" not that he was upset for his sin and for spurning God's blessing, but for what he lost in this world. If you look at the sum of his life through Genesis and again referred to into Hebrews 12:16-17 it becomes apparent that Esau serves as a warning of who not to become like or allow in the congregation. The bible does say when he weeps and when he plans revenge , it is not far off from Issacs death as the blessings were given towards the end of his life. Genesis 27:41 "And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob." Of course I believe that God is sovereign and can bless who He wishes, but I also believe he is just and knows a persons true heart when approached sincerely. Now, aside from all of this around Esau which we can't agree and that's fine, at least we agree on the most important thing - that the only way to be truly saved is through faith and the work of Jesus.
