There are a few things that I missed when making this video that I wanted to talk about, including Cpase Ghoul, Post Malone, a few interesting promos, the 1995 eyewitness special, and a few cameo appearances (OK KO, JellyStone, Wacky Races), as well as some stuff that I talked about that I couldn’t really show off that well due to not being able to run the programs or not finding enough footage (ie The Quest, Renegade Chicken’s flash components).
So if you enjoyed the video and want to see a follow up with almost everything that I missed, make sure to like, comment, share, subscribe, and hit that bell icon to be notified!
And if there’s anything that I missed that you want to see me cover, let me know in the comments!

There was also the 2005 collaboration album The Mouse and the Mask which was a collaboration between Adult Swim and DANGERDOOM(a supergroup featuring Danger Mouse and the late MF DOOM).

There was an Region 4 Australian release of Coast to Coast on DVD. These releases was just the previous Region 1 releases ported over, but there was also a 9 disc boxset called the "All Talk Collection" set which included the rare Vol.4 and Vol.5. discs. Sadly much like the American releases the Region 4 sets are now out of print too.

God I miss old school, birth of adult swim era TV. I was too young to get to watch any of it, but that first hour(and the rare instance I got an extra hour.... damn that felt crazy....) felt like fucking magic every night.
I also recall having a mental breakdown over the episode Brak, (I wanna say Moltar too) and Zorak got drowned in a massive gravy flood, because I thought those characters had actually been killed off for good and weren't coming back lol

A random piece of trivia: The episode “Curling Flower Space” is actually named after a quote from 1928 William Faulkner novel “The Sound & The Fury”.
“Through the fence, between the *curling flower spaces* , I could see them hitting.”, the chapter this quote is from is named after a date, “April Seventh 1928”, which comes up on Moltar’s monitor in the episode, and the fake credits accredit writing to “Bill Faulkner”, Bill being an informal shortening of William, a rather obscure reference, especially for a late nineties Cartoon Network show.

I loved watching Space Ghost Coast to Coast growing up, I remember watching the original Snatch ending and being confused why they changed the ending (I was a toddler by then I think). I always wondered how that ending originally went, and always wished that guy who bought the script from eBay would finally be public about it. Space Ghost Coast to Coast is the best show ever. I’ve loved it ever since I was a kid and I love to watch it now. Yeah, the two seasons of the show when it was on GameTap weren’t the best episodes, but they were alright for being shorter and basically being a bit more focused on video game people due to the site the show was on, but the 8 seasons of the show that were on TV from 1994-2004 are truly amazing. The show helped me form my sense of humor at an early age and is defiantly a go to whenever I need to laugh, this show delivers on that times 100. Now, if only we can get a complete series set of the show on DVD or Blu-Ray, I would defiantly get it in a heartbeat. Thank you for the video man, I always enjoy to watch Space Ghost related stuff. Take care!

  • @jcaseyjones2829

This is THE show. ATHF is funny but feels a little lowbrow and the absurdity of the humor doesn't really reach the same level. Sealab 2021 is a bit concept art, there's not a lot of physical humor in most of it. Space Ghost C2C, despite coming first, is that perfect medium.

One thing I was a little surprised to not see mentioned was the comics. The staff, including C Martin Croker and Andy Merrill, all had a hand in making the comics at one point or another. My favorite issue was when they did a spoof on manga/anime (I think that was issue 6?)

    • @Floweramon
      @Floweramon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

This made me go back and reread the comics and I wanted to share more random trivia about them:
-The majority were shown in the "Cartoon Cartoons Presents" and the "Cartoon Network Starring" comic series. There was one in "Cartoon Network Presents" and a random one-shot that was made as a promo before the show aired that was labeled "No.2 Vol.1". And yes, it is as hard to keep them all straight as it sounds XD (Edit: While there's only one in "Cartoon Network Presents", a regular segment was to show Toonami Moltar and Clyde watching old "cartoons" in the form of comic stories as a wrap-around in certain issues)
-There were a number of minor recurring characters exclusive to the comics. The most prominent would be a woman named Jeannie who was some form of upper management for Ghost Planet Inc (and whom I wish was a character on the show because I think she's neat)
-The green commissary worker was given a name and a single speaking line in one of the comics, her name is Helga.
-Brak was shown to be filming his show alongside Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and in the comics he was usually more of a jerky rival to the Coast to Coast crew. Highlights include an award show where they competed to get the most awards and a baseball game played between the Council of Doom and the Coast to Coast crew (plus Jeannie and Birdman)

My whole childhood is practically lost media between the KTLA studios fire and the other fire at the media storage company that contracted to all the independent stations in SoCal.
Many younger people simply don't believe descriptions of 70's and 80's kids media on independent and UHF stations when told about it.
Even with all the dark fantasy and Krofft stuff that does survive to show them.
There was one show I remember that now only exists as 7 seconds of recovered audio and a single folder of rough conceptual drawings.

It was an honor to collaborate on making this video, back when I did the original iceberg image this video would expand upon, I was certain that I had everything the show was involved with covered! I also like the presentation of having the clips shown on the monitor, and with each entry having transitions like the commercial breaks for the show did. I'm really happy that this video became a reality for me, and that Coast to Coast will gain some more attention thanks to recent years with its inclusion on HBO Max!

Dude, you have no idea how many times I've rewatched this video over the last month or so. I think I'm about 15-20 times in now, going from fully watching to playing your video on in the background on loop.
Space Ghost is such an interesting topic because of how influential and hilarious it is.
I normally don't like iceberg videos but the way you said everything didn't feel like an iceberg but rather a linear documentary, whereas most icebergs just hop on different topics that don't line up with one another in each layer. Your layers made sense within each other from one layer just being episodes to another layer being promos and etc. It's perfect across the board.
I do hope you make one for Harvey Birdman or Aqua Teen in a similar style!

I cannot find concrete sources as to why this is, but the information I did find says that he was often handed scenes upside down and had to flip them around to the point that it became a running joke that they put in the credits.

A point about the Aqua Teen Space Ghost pilot. It is and it ISN'T real. It was never a pilot and for that matter never an actual episode of Space Ghost either. This is what they said in the DVD audio commentary.
They wrote it during the original Space Ghost run and it almost got made. That's why in the live action footage of Dave Willis as the burger mascot he looks younger than he did when they were making Aqua Teen: they actually shot it back in the 90s when they thought they would air the episode. But it got shelved and then they produced it when Aqua Teen came out. They just used the original designs and voice concepts they were going to use. Then in 2001, when [as] needed concepts for shows from the original Space Ghost team, Willis and Matt Maillero (sp?) - who had written the original shelved episode - took those characters and reworked the concept that would become Aqua Teen Hunger Force (number one in the hood, G!).
So basically they produced an episode that got shelved and pretended that it was made before it was shelved. And if memory serves, it was for a New Year's Eve block of [as] programming that Carl and Brak hosted. They wanted to have something special to play for that night - since it had been pure chance that NYE was in that year on a Sunday, which is the day that [as] used to be exclusive to.
    - trevor.

I had hoped to see something from my favorite episode, "knifin around". Thom Yorke and Bjork in the same episode, and SG mentioned Tricky, who Bjork was working with at the time. I still quote it. Just talkin bout dragons. Some day there will be peace in space.

Fun fact for the brilliant number one and two episode. The 2 episodes featured 2 different tracks off of rammstein's debut album, Herezleid

I haven't finished the video, but for the Aqua Teen Episode of Coast to Coast Shake does not only not sound like his final voice, but also sounds like the voice for Ignignokt of the Mooninites. Pretty sure Shake is voiced by Dave Willis as well who does Meatwad too.

This is awesome, and very informative. I was a huge fan of SGC2C back in the day. I remember writing to them once and I got back a bunch of hastily photocopied black and white pictures of Space Ghost, Brak, Zorak, and Moltar, presumably to color. There was also a coupon offering a CD of the "soundtrack" to the show, so of course I ordered it. It had the opening theme and most of the music created for the show by Sonny Sharrock. I think it also had a few of those daily calendar quotes from Space Ghost on it, because I remember hearing those a lot. Although that could have been on one of the other CDs. I wish I knew where I put it. I'd love to dig it out and listen to it again.

After watched the video I went to HBO MAX to check the episode 20.01, it seems that they uploaded and redubed (like most of the episodes) the original broadcast in spanish. Wish they would upload both versions on their site but oh well, nice video.

Holy shit!! at 1 hour 6 minutes when you mention Count Floyd, it unlocked a primal memory I had of a safety video I used to watch as a kid that featured Count Floyd. Just went down a rabbit hole and found it, it was called Kid Safe, so I guess the dude's character got around?

Oh I was really hoping to hear about the website that I vaguely remember from back in the day but I don't think it made this list anywhere. From what I remember each character had their own section of the website that was designed as if they had made an old HTML website so it kind of followed their knowledge base and attitudes. I specifically remember the xorax section being as basic as possible because he didn't want to do it while simultaneously he capitalized random letters in every sentence making it as difficult to read as possible just to cause pain in anyone who dared visit his page while multar's page was very neat and organized. The website had a bunch of bonus features that probably later made it onto DVDs That's the first place I saw the 10 minute extended version of fire ant for example. If this still exists somewhere please let me know I would love to revisit whatever is archived

Warren is such a weird fucking episode, not only for the looping thing. Like, Space Ghost gets straight up molested by a plant, in a Cartoon Network show. The entire vibe of the episode just feels strange.

    • @Maw0
      @Maw0 ปีที่แล้ว

It took me an entire minute to realize that it looped. I saw the scene with Space Ghost looking at his TV noticing Gary and I noticed "Wait, I've seen this before..." Then I hit the progress bar and I noticed "What the hell? It's 35 minutes long..." Then I checked to see if the looped version was the same, and it was.
