    Mate if you complete this trip, its probably the fist ever solo attempt on an electric motorcycle. Charlie and Ewan did it with manufacturers support, a convoy of support vehicles and a spare diesel generator on the back of a van. You are doing this solo, what a legend! Best of luck and have fun :)

    Hey Marc,
    I'm honest. I did come here for the Dominator, bc own one and doing small trips with it myself.
    I thought I wouldn't like your context anymore, if you switch your bike. But I'll stay.
    Bc it's not the bike. It's your way of seeing the adventure. Your style of editing. Your little talks.
    Like you said. Every bike it's an adventure bike.
    Glad you'll keep the honda tho 💪.
    Keep it up! Awesome work.

    Hey Marc, you legend! Having been watching the EV scene for the last few years, the fastest charging appears to be 10-80%, so with it pausing above 90% that's likely due to the battery getting too hot and it pausing to cool.
    There's likely to be charging and everything all over the UK, but if you end up needing an overnight charge/camping space in the Cambridge area you're welcome at ours :) If not, have a great trip and enjoy the beauty of the world! \m/

    Fun to watch! Was in Harz and were you were, June/July 2019. Believe you're right about the altitude/height! Lots of trees died due to drought back then. Really tragic to see. From the footage it looks like the damage isn't repaired by any means. Will go back there, and recommend to fellow riders to check it out.
    As for going electric, well I don't see that coming for me any time soon. Or at least not as long as the range is as limited as it is. My summer adventures/long rides are, on an average, 5-6500 kilometers. All depending on time. Last week returned home after 10 days and 5000 kilometers. With a substantially much more luggage.
    In a few years maybe. I can't afford to waste the time. Perhaps in 5-10yrs, we'll see. Cheers :)

    Hi Marc, what an awsome pioniering idea to do this on an Electric bike! Looking forward how it wil go in al the diferend country's. Charging in the netherlands won't be a problem becouse the chargers are growing like trees.
    If you are looking for some cool places to visit in the netherlands i like to ride at the national park the "Veluwe zoom" and "veluwe" with the "postbank" in it. From there to the ferry at Rotterdan it is a must to ride some "dijken" (the eleveted roads next to the rivers) like the "lekdijk" or "waaldijk". Its also cool to ride at the "Utrechtse heuvelrug" or when you Come in from the north is cool to ride the "afsluitdijk acros the "ijselmeer". When you Come from the South i dont know a lot of places but the "loonse and Drunense duinen" are pritty cool.
    This sunday there is a biker festival at Arnhem called motorfest. maybe cool to visit if it fits in your sceduel.
    Good Luck on your trip! If there are any problems send me a massage and meybe i can help.

      Thanx for your nice words! In my mind we all get better with sharing some i formation. Sometimes i have a hard time finding a nice route by speaking to a local that likes to show his country or neighborhood you can find the best roads. Here in the netherlands it can be realy flat and boring but when you want to see it and look for it the country can be butiful as well! But you have to get of the straight highwais en get on de b or even better c roads.
      Marc does a great job in editing but doing it daily does take a lot of time. I havent seen a video from you but will do it right now. Looking forward to see your trip and dream about doing somthing like this for my self as well. Maybe one day i can do it to but as you properly know there is always an excuse.

    Hi Marc. Another good video! It'll be interesting seeing how you get on with the electric bike. If you're coming to Scotland avoid the A9 between Perth and Inverness. The Braemar/Tomintoul road is far nicer and only takes a wee while longer. North of Inverness it's worth taking the road in to Bonar Bridge then back out to Golspie on the east coast.

    Be prepared for broken chargers in the UK, I don’t have an electric vehicle myself but one of my colleagues went electric a couple of years ago and broken or missing charging points seems to be one of the most common problems he has encountered.

    • @jtchivers
      @jtchivers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't think that's fair. For a start, your colleague was probably experiencing issues with DC rapid chargers (as distinct from AC fast chargers). Sometimes there are broken rapid chargers, but trust me, as an EV owner since 2014 (and an electric motorcycle owner since 2016), things are so much better than they were three or four years ago. At least there is far more redundancy now.
      Marc is also riding a Zero which can charge at 6/11/22 kW AC charge points, and there are thousands of those around the place. Very worst case scenario, he just needs a standard power socket.
      In June, I did 2000 miles on my electric motorcycle (Land's End to John o'Groats in one stint) from the Midlands to Land's End to John o'Groats to top of Shetland, back to Aberdeen and then back to the Midlands and was able to charge everywhere (and there were two of us riding that journey too).
      Ignore the naysayers. The key to EV life is have a plan B for charging, just in case. Served me well for 8 years and I've never run out of battery.

    • @duniek86
      @duniek86 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      this bike is charger down proof - bcoz this bike support only AC charging - AC points are cheap in bulit bcoz basicly its only relays inside - real charger is inside bike - also its a lot more AC points than DC
      he can even charge at private properties/hotels with full speed - for example energica emoto has DC fast charging but AC is only 3kW - 3kW means about 25-30km per hour

    I wish you luck Marc✌I travel too far and into remoteness to consider an ebike. I enjoy long days in the saddle, and some riders don't😄
    I'm sure infrastructure will challenge your adventure. It will be interesting to see this unfold. Told by a real traveller, like yourself. Not produced.

    I’ve heard with EVs that you should only charge to 80% otherwise the battery will get hot and it’s not good for it.
    Plus never run the battery down under 20%
    Well it’s just what I’ve heard on EV blogs
    Have a Safe trip!
    I enjoy your channel😁

    Liion batteries can not be charged to 100% on fast charging, this is to protect the battery from overheating. Usually the cutoff is at 80%.

    The cable bag seems a very big deal, having to take that everywhere with you… I hope they come up with something directly mounted on the bike like a roller extension or something

    Nice video as always 😎
    Suggestions:
    It would be nice if you could give us an idea, if/how the planning of your daily trip is different than before. now you might have to look for charging stations when starting to drive to more remote locations. Do you use a specific app or do you have a rough idea where you can charge. Do you look more on the screen because you can’t tell at the moment what’s your average range is?
    Looking forward to see your next adventure 😊 ride safe 🙌

    Good production, at little history with the right mixture of nature and riding. LOL, cut it myself. A little quite, maybe you need to put in Harley motorcycle exhaust background sound, Bach, or Rossini's Overture. 😃 Drive safe, and remember you're much more invisible than on a motorbike and people cannot hear you coming especially in a parking lot, around camp grounds or a crosswalk. Do you have to leave the key in the bike and turned on while charging?

      @MarcTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No you actually have to turn it off before charging. It wouldn’t charge with ignition on🤙🏼

    Nice to see you do this, I'm mean challenge the change in paradigm in terms of "electric travel"!!!
    I've been commuting to work since 2019 on a C-Evo LR (BMW) and clocked nearly 40 tkm so far - no regrets - and my Varadero SD02 (128 tkm!) is not too far from being exchanged by an Energica Experia. We need to prove the petrolheads that it can be done - it is the future of ecological & economical transportation!
    BTW - the last 10-15% during fast charging will always be slower due to the "balancing" of the cells - that is quite normal on all EVs ;-)

      EV's are pretty cool, but the future of ecological & economical transportation is public transport.

      In which Galaxy? If we all went EV how would you even meet the demand for all that electricity. Europe may not even have enough to get through the winter without possible power outages. Germany has gone mad and decommisioned most of their nuclear powerplants - the only sustainable clean energy - in addition to be dependent on LPG from Putin which control the flow at his discretion. I do not foresee an all-out EV in the near future.

      @@michaelandersen4745 Easy - plaster your roof w/ solar panels and put a battery in your garage. As for the vehicle choice - down-size to what you actually need.
      For the past 40-50 years Germans have lived/consumed beyond their means - its time to come to mind (nixfürungut) ;-)
