There's only 12 notes in the Chromatic scale, mate. Some stuff is bound to sound similar. I'm sure it wasn't deliberate. Doherty wouldn't sell himself so cheaply like that. He's a true poet.
It’s so sad that people think like this, imagine if I made an amazing wedding cake with intricate detailing and a wonderful flavour but was told I was lazy because I used the same ingredients as other bakers, would that detract from my cake? Or a pair of quality shoes, but I followed the same template as other oxfords. I think we’ve been trained to judge music differently because of runaway lawsuits in the us courts, which makes everything worse for everybody.
