    Quentin's Holden Torana is one of the most consistently quick genuine street cars in Australia so it's great to see if back on the road after an engine rebuild.

    The number of six second street cars is growing and growing. JUN 2 just ran a 6.54 @ 211mph today. Twenty years ago these were competitive numbers for Top Doorslammers. What a time to be alive.

    • @yarpos

      within my lifetime they were competitive numbers for Top Fuel. When I first went to the drags breaking 7 seconds and 200mph was special. Modern day drag racing engineering is simply amazing.

      Also high torque at low rpm means high cylinder pressure. The higher the cylinder pressure, the more load on everything and the higher chance of failure.
      High torque at low rpm feels great in a street car but doesn’t really help you much on the drag strip.

    Thank god, he’s back 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻! I’m glad he repaired the old engine! Short stroke small blocks are always fast! People just don’t realize, that when your just about out of turbo, or blower, smaller cubes will put you back into a much better efficiency range! Also the shorter stroke cranks are much stronger! The pistons don’t pull out of the bottom of the bore! Many good things with the shorter stroke! Besides if you build it right, the power will be very close! His limiting factors are those exhaust manifolds & the factory intake, probably not the engine or turbos! It looks like he put a much stronger rotating assembly in it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻! 7.40s in a street car with a very basic setup is badass! One of the fastest! I think that combination will go faster, but I believe the manifolds & intake are holding him back 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Probably the reason it sounds like it’s struggling 🙄🙄🙄🙄! He’s trying to move a lot of air, with shit parts! Anyway glad to see Australian Jeff Lutz/Tom Bailey back out, except Quinten doesn’t spend a fortune, like the pro mod guys do 😜😜😜😜! Best of luck with it Bud! Mark is a awesome guy, to tune on such a low dollar deal 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😂😂😂😂! I’m glad to see they were smart enough to restall the converter! Some people just have no idea 🤷‍♂️! The 4in stroke setup in the converter, would have been way too tight, for a 3.622 stroke engine! Really nice Job boys 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻! Don’t worry Quinten, the bills are in the mail 😂😂😂😂!

  • @3800S1

    I have seen this before myself a number of times, bigger cubes isn't always better. Some engines actually perform and make better peak and overall power standard or de-stroked vs stroked. From what I have been able to work out this normally happens due to head flow vs capacity. Eventually for a given head flow it plateaus or chokes the engine if the potential hp of the capacity out sizes the head's potential hp. Even if you fit the biggest cam you can, heads can only flow so much. Piston speed in stroked/standard/de-stroked also compounds this.

    Now that is a street car! Full interior, exhaust and meets all relevant regulations. Not like a lot of those so called street cars you see on the US channels where as long as it has lights and indicators itøs road leagal.

    • @johncarl5505
      @johncarl5505 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A street car is any car legal for street use. It doesn't matter if it's a tube frame car. The car in this video would be illegal in countries like Singapore. Do I stop calling it a street car? No. Therefore, the US cars you mentioned deserve to be called street cars.

      @@johncarl5505 For sure, but Tom Baileys car is not quite as streetable as this one! I love watching the drag and drive events, and anything that can do it counts as a street car. I just love full interior small tyre stuff going fast that much more.

      That depends on your definition of street car. I can attest to this car's street Cred. I know Quinton and his tuner mate from Motec, Mark. This car has done 1000's of street k's... That kind of makes it a street car man, he DOES drive it on the street after all... As for passing a RWC, no it wouldn't pass as is, but with a few minor changes it'd be fine to be a fully engineered street car- but then again I could knock 95% of cars on the road for SOMETHING... Even very new cars, under a year old will have roadworthy issues most of the time when you put 'em up on the hoist and have a good close look
