- Mini Motorways Part 13 - traffic lights have been buffed! There was a balance update not too long ago that affected the lights, but also brought a greater necessity to them with 3-way intersections getting nerfed. They now may be the most powerful item in the game.

Always take a motorway over a bridge. A motorway can act as a proxy bridge and you can only have 9 per level, so it's better to get all 9 and then take all the bridges you want in the end game
Always take a motorway over a bridge unless you are, or expect to be, low enough on roads that the extra 10 are likely to matter. Depending on city and luck they can sometimes be a very limited resource.
Everyone knows motorways are usually a better choice, but ALWAYS is not right.
You may not save sufficient tiles deploying it and be unable to reserve the later bridge route, then find it blocked.
Maps can have limits
The limit of 9 is not there anymore. I got... dunno exactly, 16 or 18 lately.

Ooo yea like a special road type that you could toggle to with 4 lanes
I feel like with the most recent update we do kinda need a wide road variant now, a lot of the time houses just can't keep up with demand when using segregation-related detours, but then using mixed roads inevitably leads to congestion.
On second thought increasing the motorway softcap could be an alternative

The fact that he had like THE PERFECT SPAWNS and he left so many houses disconnected when he needed more cars makes me upset. This could have been a 7k run.
This is what I was thinking too. Not to mention how he even lasted to 4K.

depends on how many buses there are...maybe the cars in the game are buses just taking a group of people to work....each house is a bus stop....who knows

I think it helps to connect the double building spawns together with correct colored houses at the closest entrance to the business. like at 6:00 I think it would be better to connect that motorway to the other entrance
I've been waiting for someone to notice this optimization since I watched the first episode, he did the same thing
I think it's just one big parking lot. It can help when you want the traffic to avoid cutting each other off though
The parking spots are all shared, it doesn't matter.
It's a small difference, feeding from the correct end shortens journeys by a slight amount early game. But cars stop anywhere in the 9 bays and collect the pin, so late game you can feed 2 round dests if the houses / motorway are short enough to keep journey times reasonable.
There's a one way circular flow in the car park so cars minimise conflicts
@@RobBCactive the biggest difference would be like if red left the mall on the right side and turned left and blue left the mall going straight...red's left turn would block blue sometimes. Segregating still helps but it doesn't really matter which side is which.
Mini motorways is basically: "this sounds so bad out of context" the game
When a building fills with pips, it starts sending pips to other buildings of the same color. Causes a chain reaction, so sometimes have to find the source and optimize that to save the other buildings. =)
How do you know which building is the source? Like, what do you look for? I've just started playing so I'm still figuring things out 😅

you didnt leave any space for businesses so the game increased blips to prevent explotation

@@sreezonpanchbibi9932 It's more there is a fixed amount of pips per week. If you block business spawns, then the businesses you have have to take on more. Also, if a business is "full" and can't spawn any more pips, it'll "give" that pip to another of the same business color. This is why small businesses seemingly out of nowhere will kill you endgame, it's because a big business has to start pip-dumping on it.

Tip: In the start, with the 2 Red businesses, if you place the road passing directly from the 1st one(1 road to the left), there will be less slowing down for the cars going to the 2nd business

I feel like it’s a good idea to keep a motorway and only use it in emergencies or to edit a current motorway
The game can force deployment, but using motorways unnecessarily is indeed a waste. Houses/bridges/tunnels can block the alternative road routes.
Yes, Traffic lights have become stronger but you woefully underestimated the worth of roundabouts. A roundabout in that upper right corner yellow neighborhood probably would've cleared out the traffic jam in that area very fast. Granted, at that point in the game it was pretty much over anyway, but still.

The lights are somewhat more useful now, but they still help most where heavy fast traffic passes a quiet side road. It can reduce the pins then from a dest.
They don't solve problems caused by junctions being too close or having to mix colours and house sources

with the tiny island on tokyo, i always add a line of road in the middle of it all the way along so that houses don’t spawn in the middle, making connecting houses harder.

Where the 2 pink businesses had the 3 way intersection in the middle, you could’ve put in a traffic light because it would’ve just kept all traffic from slowing down. This would be because the bottom left, up right roads would’ve had green light 24/7 since the up left road would’ve only had people turning right on red which is allowed

It looks like they made businesses ramp up after new businesses stop spawning.
That's pretty clever. It fixes infinite runs and discourages spawn blocking at the same time.
Spawn blocking effectively forces you into the late-game ramping earlier. And no matter how efficient you are, there's a limit on traffic flow through a business itself; ramp demand past that, and it becomes impossible to set up an infinite run.

I think part of the downfall was not connecting many of the houses and concentrating on only one problem for too long. Otherwise, great game, I want to try it out myself one of these days…

These traffic light actually not worst than not having traffic light anymore. They are actually letting car in one direction go then immediately let the other car go in a different direction. Before they were just stopping car which just make it so much worst than not having it

The game developers can code the "AI", although this game's AI is simplistic enough, that it looks like it just works on a few basic principles. The buff looks like they increased how fast the lights switch to green, as well as how little cars slow down for the lights (They look coded to run "yellows")

I believe it's a stream.
There's a certain point where you don't actually need to connect all the houses in order to satisfy a business. Sometimes the best thing to do is to ignore the random houses in the middle of nowhere until you actually need them, and that point might be at something like 7k score.
