  • If you didn't know, fat bike tire pressure makes all the difference when riding on groomed mountian bike trails. Just a couple more pounds of pressure can either make or break a ride.
I added 4 psi to my Surly Pugsley Fat Tire bike and it was so much easier to ride the mountain bike trails that were ice and snow covered.

Don't know which clothes to wear while riding?

Its really amazing how HUGE the difference of small changes can be. When I went from a 90mm to a 40mm stem on my 2012 ebike, it was like a whole new bike, it was crazy. I could list so many more parts, its insane.

Those small little changes really can make a huge change.

Glad you were able to get a redemption ride in. It’s better to start with a little too much pressure, you can always let a little out during the ride.

Nice! I only got one chance in the snow this year and I ran like 6PSI but I run in rocky trails at like 7PSI all the time.. I guess the psi depends on your weight but the fat bikes are fun!

I know it sounds weird, wishing for more snow, but I wouldn't mind getting a few more rides in this winter!
I definitely need to play around with and dial in the tire pressure because like you said, they are a lot of fun!

Apparently the trick to having a very mild winter in Northern Indiana is to spend money on a fat bike specifically so you can ride in the snow and then poof…hardly any snow. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Haha it seems to be that way!
Just like taking a leak on the trail, someone always shows up.

I just bought a fat bike this year and 1 psi +\- makes a difference, I usually run 10 psi in the back and 8 in the front. I can go lower 8/6 psi but any lower and i might as well walk the bike 😂.

I run 8-10psi on my 20x4, any higher than 10 feels rock hard on my butt with especially with no rear suspection on mu ebike, just ordered the Suntour NCX, hopefully it'll help with that going over speed bumps. I was in a dangerous situation going over one of them bumps, didn't tighten my seat hard enough and the kick from the drop pushed and tilted my saddle down 45 degrees, and stupidly I didn't have a rench with me to adjust it back up, lucky I was close to home.
