One thing that you always have to keep in mind is that the different grading companies emphasize different things when they grade. BGS is absolutely ruthless on centering, but I have seen tons and tons of cards that they've graded where the corners are absolutely embarrassing. On the other hand, PSA is really strict on corners and will give a bit on centering. The best option is probably to send to whichever company doesn't emphasize the specific card's flaws as much.
Grading is a dice roll - it's all humans. So early in the day they're sharp, late in the day they're not. Certainly an "art" and an exercise in stamina for graders. They're no different than you or I.
Nice job! Sometimes you gotta take (calculated) risks to make money. Its totally a dice roll. I just resubbed a 2019 Finest Haaland Purple refractor that was a PSA 9 but I swore it was a 10. Got it back this week...PSA 10.
It's wild the fluctuations between the grading companies. That being said, I wonder how thorough the RCR process is given that it is onsite and a quick turnaround.
SGC not consistent if your crossing , BGS will always be the toughest grades, if edges or corners are 9s I wouldn’t cross Worse case it would have been a 9 PSA which means break even so good on you for taking the chance
got to love it. 3k is ALOT of money for me.... The next day I was in London attending a Liverpool game... I am starting to think 3k isn't that much to you
8.5 to a ten is a big jump. I've sent cards in to BGS recently which I thought would mainly get 9's and 9.5's. Most got 8.5's. I sent cards from the same set in worse condition to PSA and they all got 9's. It all depends on the grader. I will crack out the BGS 8.5's and send to PSA when the fees come down a bit more.
I have also observed from the cards I have had graded, PSA may take into consideration if the card being graded is already heavily psa10s. It seems the more rare the card, the better a chance for a psa 10. Again my observations from only my ultra modern cards graded. Anyone else seen similar situations?
My take: BGS RCR plays it safe bc it's your guaranteed lowest possible grade if you chose to slab it with them. It's entirely possible that you could've turned this in and seen it bumped up. Their centering grade for an 8 is 60:40 front centering, hence the 8.5 (can only be .5 higher than your lowest subgrade at BGS). PSA allows up to 60:40 centering on 10s. They prefer eye appeal. Not trying to say this is a common thing and everyone should be searching for 8.5 BGS slabs with an 8 centering grade, just that it's not totally out of the realm of possibility and it doesn't mean either company missed something. I would bet that the guy that RCR'd it at BGS just played it a little safe when he saw the centering.
I’ve always been curious about the RCR process considering the fact that Beckett only has the card for a couple hours; needless to say I’d never put much stocking a card in a RCR case after seeing this.
Does this have you question now actual PSA10's - - how is that even possible, graded so different almost 2 full pts. . . . CONGRATS that must have been a huge relief. BGS must be a racket to pre grade cards at these shows!
Yeah it's really interesting. Was PSA or BGS wrong? I genuinely don't know. I've felt under-graded and over-graded at every grading company. I personally think there's a good amount of luck involved at every single one.
@@TRIKESportsCards To get an 8.5 from BGS you should get an 8 in one of the four categories or (at best) two 8.5 sub-grades. So we are talking about big or multiple errors in the grading process.
All this video does is raise even more question for me in relation to grading and this hobby, after coming across all the pwcc psa shenanigans. One can only conclude that none of it is reliable and what appeared to be a highly reputable system is a bit of a facade. Kind of devastating actually because I was really interested to get back into it.
My tricky little mind tells me that someone might hope that you sell that card back to someone at the card show for less than what it's really worth. They would be the one with tge "10" and more profit
PSA is just giving out 10s these days. A PSA 10 no longer holds the weight it used too imo. This is just another example of how a PSA 10= a BGS 9 or less.
If you had gotten a grade you wanted from BGS could you have sent it into BGS to get them put in an official slab? Do they regrade the card again if you do that?
Thus is the worst part of the hobby We as collectors or investors are at the mercy of a good grade and consistency doesn’t exist I hope to get a grader that has had a good day
So basically if you get a “bad grade” you can just get it graded again and again and again until it’s better.. (hopefully) 😂 I guess it depends on who the teacher is because apparently some give better grades..
You shouldn't say you made a $10000 profit when you haven't sold them yet. Profit comes when you actually sell not the idea of selling. You have a unrealized gain not a profit.
As far as the older guy you got the Trevor Lawrence from, if he indeed obtained an offer of $3K "CASH" offer from a dealer, then why wouldn't he go back to said dealer? Instead he traded you for the Josh Allen PSA 9 and $2K cash? If someone approached me with a story like that, my first instinct would be to offer far below that and if the guy even considers it and/or later accepts it, I would immediately decline. At the end of the day, I think he "SOLD" you on a story and you fell for it, it's okay, we all have at some point, especially me, who has been collecting cards since the early 80's. Wait, I can't say I was actually "collecting," I was buying the cards because my friends had them in their spokes and I wanted to buy them and place them in the spokes of my BMX bike, you know to be cool when you ride with that fluttering sound. Until the card rips or it rains, then back to the corner store to rinse and repeat! Brother, I love your channel.
So, does this mean RCR is a scam per say? Not a scam in sense of it being fake, but more of a cash grab and give an estimate from them. I dunno. Seems the RCR is kinda fishy.
You understand by making this video you jeopardized all the standards yours and our cards are graded by? PSA 100% has seen this video and now they know so they'll just toughen their standards. Good job, had to get the thumbnail and clickbait right?
There are a million examples of people cracking both PSA & Beckett slabs & sending back to same company. Most shown getting different grades, usually higher because the person was unhappy with a low grade. Also a PSA 10 can be 91/100 while BSG 8.5 can be 86… To me it more says the community should pick what service is better with specific standards. Example vintage sports PSA other BSG. Finally BSG express grading system is iffy to me.
Well I’m the one who made the deal with you… As i thought, the card looked great. Congratulations on the 10!

How about SGC? How do they compare?
@@theone031 SGC is a stickler for centering too.
The grading companies need to be more transparent with how they came to their conclusion on the grade if its less than a 10
Thats insane congrats u deserve it !!!
Thanks bro!
You definitely deserve it man!! Great upgrade!!
Appreciate it man!
Grading is a dice roll - it's all humans. So early in the day they're sharp, late in the day they're not. Certainly an "art" and an exercise in stamina for graders. They're no different than you or I.
same tiger sold on ebay for 1475 lol ouch same ID # and all
Happy for your grades! You deserve it :D
Thank you!
so, this card sold for 1475 on ebay and psa says it's a pop 1...

Wow! 😱🤯 Congratulations on the 10s.
Better keep that color blast in the next 5yrs that card will go up in value💪
got to love it. 3k is ALOT of money for me.... The next day I was in London attending a Liverpool game... I am starting to think 3k isn't that much to you
I have used the shoebox app on iPhone since the national where I met them there prescreening feature has made me alot of money

This is exactly why i stick to AGS now.
Do you think that’s partially why PSA is ahead of BGS in terms of grading? They’re super lenient in terms of grading
Congrats! What a roller coaster!
That's great 👏! Where will you auction them?
Shows again that grading is so random 😅 people just put way to much trust in all these grading companies, and pay all these premiums
Wow, what a great story!
Thank you!
Congratulations, but rather concerning for grading standards.
Yeah it's really interesting. Was PSA or BGS wrong? I genuinely don't know. I've felt under-graded and over-graded at every grading company. I personally think there's a good amount of luck involved at every single one.

If or when you do put it on auction, what would you put as a starting bid?
Crack it until you get a 10... thats the game especially on the cards 5,000 plus..eventually you get a 10
Why grade cards or pay higher prices for them if the grading companies are so horrible?

good work man!
Loved the video and yes nice roll no doubt
Sana All. Now that is truly lucky
My tricky little mind tells me that someone might hope that you sell that card back to someone at the card show for less than what it's really worth. They would be the one with tge "10" and more profit
U keep saying it was a bgs 8.5 to a PSA 10 but that's not right, it was a RCR 8.5 right?
PSA is just giving out 10s these days. A PSA 10 no longer holds the weight it used too imo. This is just another example of how a PSA 10= a BGS 9 or less.
Hey you are a Niners Fan awesome! Good info.
9:11 question is, will you mention it was a 8.5 once you sell/auction it ? If no. Why ?
Why would he? He’s not selling a BGS slab, he’s selling a PSA slab
Let us know how much they went for at auction
If you had gotten a grade you wanted from BGS could you have sent it into BGS to get them put in an official slab? Do they regrade the card again if you do that?
That is awesome Troy. I'm genuinely happy for you to get the upgrade! Too bad you had to peak at the grade pop though!! haha
You’re not the first fellow to go raw in LA to get out of their comfort zone!
Thus is the worst part of the hobby
We as collectors or investors are at the mercy of a good grade and consistency doesn’t exist
I hope to get a grader that has had a good day
I am happy your experience was a positive result
lol....I think I'm going to try this card collection thing out.
Is this the one that sold for 1475 in November on probstein? :(
It is 😮
Congrats!!
Yo can you pin a comment or take down the video?? You only sold it for $1500!
Ey Troy you still play in the PBA? Why not try the Japan B League.
raw pre grades from beckett are garbage
kurt's card care KAPPIN yaahhh diiiiip trike??? why you diiiiip trike
Did you sell it? Market movers shows t law tiger psa 10 at 1700.00 😅
So basically if you get a “bad grade” you can just get it graded again and again and again until it’s better.. (hopefully) 😂
I guess it depends on who the teacher is because apparently some give better grades..
sheesh maybe i should crack my BGS 9.5 ja morant silver prizm rookie and send to psa....
You shouldn't say you made a $10000 profit when you haven't sold them yet. Profit comes when you actually sell not the idea of selling. You have a unrealized gain not a profit.
Looks like you were right 😬 market is so tough right now
9:12 is insane
How much did you get for the Cards ?

Brother, I love your channel.
what an awesome story
Grading is so rigged BGS 8.5 to psa 10 when they should of been 9.5 bgs like wtf bgs so rigged
Sick card
must be easy living in the US (when it comes to sportscards ;)
So does this mean that PSA grades are unreliable?
So I guess PSA is just handing out 10s now loll
Who is the card care person am interested trying send some inn please help ??
That's a cheesy deal, where is the Companies name who graded it ?
Bgs 8.5 to psa 10? Lucky for you, but really kind of laughable. The whole thing seems pretty arbitrary and just a money grab by grading companies.
Goes to show how grading is a joke , nice hit tho
So, does this mean RCR is a scam per say? Not a scam in sense of it being fake, but more of a cash grab and give an estimate from them. I dunno. Seems the RCR is kinda fishy.
Nice cards men
That’s insane
SGC slabs are terrible looking 😭😂
sorry but all it does it add to the fact the grading is over rated and is just a money maker for these companies
nice
The Card sold for 1,5k LOL Fail
Well that's the goal. Thankfully it's not Brain surgery.
p̷r̷o̷m̷o̷s̷m̷

Lakeland....!!! I'm in Orlando
Could it be the Beckett Raw Card Review guy was exhausted, tire, or just a freaking idiot?
That may be the reason he gave you an 8.5 BGS.
