"Something in the way" is such a haunting and amazing song by Nirvana. May or may not be on unplugged. I cannot remember. I think so though.

It was so new in its day. I was 21 at uni in the UK before my long move overseas. I'd grown up on 70s and 80s music and found Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails in 1991,2.

Great song and great reaction. The grunge movement hit really hard right after I graduated from high school in the early 90s. I saw Alice in Chains and Blind Melon live in 1992 and they both opened for Ozzy. I also saw Pantera, White Zombie, Type O Negative, and Metallica live in the early 90's. I was actually planning to see Nirvana live, but Cobain had other plans. Cheers and have a great day.

If you enjoyed this song, I recommend “Killing Joke - Eighties”. There’s no question Come As You Are was influenced by this song, as Cobain was a fan of KJ, but each song is distinct and awesome in their own way.

Does anybody else recall several years ago when the naked baby on the front of the Nevermind album turned 18 and promptly sued the label. I dont recall if it was for royalties over his image, or a consent issue because he was just a baby, or maybe even claiming some bs about being ridiculed in life over his naked babyness (bs because how would anyone know unless you told them? And most wouldnt believe it was you anyway).. . .?

A lot of Cobain's lyrics are impressionistic - they don't necessarily refer to real events or people but are kind of a vibe. Also quite a few of the songs are about the music industry and how much he hated it

I have heard Kurt say when it came to his song writing that he was lazy and would often just throw random word together to make a song. Just another reason why i personally believe lyrics dont matter. They can be anything as long as the sound is catchy and cool.

This song is specially haunting becasue he keeps saying he doesn't have a gun. And we know how many folks out there have magically died of self cancellation with no reason to do so whatsoever. And many of them were anti-governement that had a lot of influene over the current tyrannical regime at the time in form of their music. The braindead folks usually would start screaming about how it's just a conspiracy theory and things like that doesn't happen. Oh they do. Most people have no fucking clue what world they're living in. Obliivous to reality.

I believe i was in 2nd grade listening to man in the box by alive in chains on the radio. Kids dont understand lyrics really so there is no bad time to listen to great music. As now as a 41 yr old i personally do not believe lyrics make songs good even remotely. It is everything else except the lyrics.
