@@camellia_vt Most important difference between them is ... not a fact that factorio is top down 2D game and satisfactory 3D. But fact that factorio is rather a time based tower defense game. You have to build rocket and leave which is very hard(or rather long process). In ACTIVELY hostile planet. The longer you play, and the more you build the stronger enemies will try to overrun you. Basicaly zergs. So you have to manage your production and resources during active defense.
Meanwhile satisfactory difference is in the name. Its satisfaction game. You dont rush, you dont have timers. Enemies exist, and they can be scary and deadly. But they stay in their spots if you dont trigger their radius they dont attack you. Also resources are infinite. In factorio ores can deplet and you have to move your base to different place. But it satisfactory if you build something that will work forever as long at is has power. Which also can be automated. So even if you are bad in game, dont make optimized stuff, dont expand to much.... you still can finish the game just by setting basic production and leaving game open.

"I'm not putting 400 hours in something", i thought the same but Satisfactory is one of those "just 5 more minutes" games and when you look up it was 20 hours and you have rebuilt your factory/road/rails etc for the 20th time, or you are chaining cables through the map. My 850hours on Steam speak by themselves

3:08 This may not be the best per se, but I like a game called Hydroneer. In it, you mine dirt, sell what you mine for better tools to mine better, and eventually automate everything. Josh has also played, and then broke, Hydroneer.

  • @Winter_Chill_

it's super fun to really get into and be OCD into "ah yes, with belt speed of X, i need 50 factories to maximise smelting this ore into ingots"
    and then it just grows
    more ore deposits
    more efficient belts and drills
    more parts to get made
made things that those parts need
    trains
    drones
    mega builds
everything done to peak efficiency so that not a single item is wasted and every item is made to requirement (or as spare for building the next factory part)
    and it just keeps going
    ...
and then there's the full 1.0 release updates
which add in alien material to make things EVEN MORE EFFICIENT

Dyston Sphere Program is really good. Your ultimate objective is to assemble a Dyson Sphere, a superstructure surrounding a star to harvest energy from it. It's much more 3d oriented and you have logistics between multiple planets and star systems while dealing with a hostile threat from space. The efficiency calculations are also much easier as well.

  • @tachrayonic2982

The Factories in games such as Factorio and Satisfactory produce three main things:
    - Factory Components, as the factory must grow
    - Tools + Equipment, to improve your ability to build the factory, or conquer the alien planet. Jetpacks, Weapons, Vehicles etc
    - Progression Items, which you use to unlock new factory components and recipes. Factorio describes this as Research, while Satisfactory is kind of an "offering to the corporate overlords" to "save the day"
The Progression will typically allow you build your factory bigger and more complex, and you will have to use the newly unlocked recipes for the next tier of progression.
Both games allow you build neat organized factories, balancing the quantity of each of the machines such that every machine is always running efficiently to produce as many resources as possible.
Or, you can just slap machines together to eventually build up enough resources to unlock the next thing.
    Usually a mix of both.

    To answer your questions:
    - If you are interested, I highly recommend watching Joshs Satisfactory videos in order. Not only show they the progress of the game over the years, but also introduce you to all the mechanics more easily.
    - As for Factory Games: Satisfactory and Factorio are the best in my eyes. But for a beginner, I would recommend Satisfactory a lot more. You have more leeway in the 3D world, options to do like Exploration besides building and planning, and most importantly for me: infinite resource nodes as well as indestructable bases.

It's a game where you get stuff to build stuff to make stuff to build stuff to make stuff kind of like what you said about Raft. Watching Josh's madness is about the most fun unless you watch the review videos of all the engineering "experts". They put 2,000 hours into their builds and are so shocked at what Josh does and they're pretty funny too, but in a different way. Actually watching Josh is what got me to play the game and all of my factories ended up pretty much like his. If you watch others videos they build incredible factories sometimes whole cities, it all depends on what you want to do. As for the nuclear waste at first there was no way to get rid of it but they updated the game with a way to turn it into other stuff.

There's a way to handle nuclear waste in game, you turn it into plutonium then send it to the resource sink, prior to 1.0 if you used the plutonium to power your reactors you'd get plutonium waste and there was no way to get rid of it. With 1.0 there's a way to handle the plutonium waste to make another type of fuel rod called ficsomium which produces no waste when used but has a lower power production compared to plutonium and uranium. I've got 600 hours in this game and i still haven't finished it, have to take breaks from the game or i get overwhelmed trying to automate and semi-optimize factories.
Prior to satisfactory, i had never messed with factory games, i will say it got me addicted, right now i bounce between this game and tectonica (another factory have but underground with terrain deformation as one of it's features).

I think I found a video where you would likely agree with the conclusions and, strangely enough, it's from The Act Man. It's his video about a list of woke games and how stupid it is, which is to say extremely stupid. Some of the things listed are so stupid it's downright funny in fact. He also has a video saying that Dr. Disrespect has brain damage which makes me want to unhear everything he reacted to.
Also, a game I enjoy in moderate amounts and is kind of like this is Hydroneer. The automation relies entirely on water in the base game and the DLC uses a mixture of lava and water. It can be fun so long as you don't play too much too often. You can also find some mods for it that still work, with me having a number of them for a list. Their all on the workshop as well so their easy to access. Trust me on this, you would definitely want some of the mods, they greatly improve things. The main differences are that production of the end product is manual instead of automated and it's mostly mining. Also there is no harming nature, you are limited to set plots and that's it.
