You can clearly hear the metal/rock elements even in Céline’s version.
Jim Steinman wrote it intending for it to be sort’ve a melodramatic rock operetta.

Céline Dion and Meat Loaf are 2 of the greatest singers in modern music and 2 of my favourites. Yet Tommy J gives justice to both with this fantastic cover!
Not many remember that this is a Jim Steinman song that Pandoras Box originally recorded. Celine then did her cover which was a massive hit. Meatloaf had fought to record this for years, including losing a court case against Jim for, and then he eventually released as a duet with Marion Raven. However, the song was supposed to be recorded by Bonnie Tyler but her record company declined the offer.
@@Cyannah117 yes. It is one more magnum opus by the late, great J. Steinman. And it sounds like him 100% in all the various interpretations.
I still find meat loaf better suited for some "hot" parts, as he's been the horny voice of Steinman for decades, whilst Céline, whose version I absolutely love, sounds great but looks a bit out of place in a "hot" video that they wanted to shoot.
This is AWESOME. . .I'm going to be honest. As a metalhead, I always imagined singing the song like this and pretending it was a power metal ballad so it felt cooler to like the song, LOL. Guitar riffs and everything. This is perfect.

He’s an incredibly generous, humble and extremely talented Multi-instrumentalist, Composer, Songwriter, Arranger, and more.
I feel very privileged to have found his channel early on, when he had 20K+ subscriber’s - he’s going to enjoy a long and prosperous career, I guarantee it, because I’m 53, (an 80’s teen) and was a massive Gary Moore fan, despite him being a bizarrely underrated solo artist. Tommy’s cover’s are usually better than all the original’s and his vocal range is knocking on the door of almost 4 octaves!

Great post, indeed. Week after week we discover, again and again, a Tommy who is not only a singer, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, showman, composer but is the SONG itself. Every song is Tommy. He is not the SINGER , he is the SONG.
I've never loved another male singing voice as much as I've loved Steve Perry's. Since my teen years, in the 80's. All other great male vocsls come in second. Steve is top on my heart's chart. But now, Tommy, you're side by side with The Voice. And that means me listening repeatedly, 10 times at a time! What an enchanting rendition this is! Thank you.
