I just purchased this car for my wife and didn't anticipate falling for it as we have. I can't over state how pleased we are with it. Just a lot of (premium) car for the money. We also love the way it looks (especially in platinum silver).
You make a great review, i like how you give the actual user input (gas mileage, wheel ruggedness, ect.), and not just some manufacture stated specs, very nice review!
@JF R the new genesis products are WAY more luxurious than anything lexus can put together. The GV80 shits on the RX, the GV70 shits on the NX, the G80 absolutely decimated the ES and the G70 is miles ahead of the outdated facelift they call the "new" IS. Genesis also offers a 100k mile 10 year warranty and the previous generation cars were nothing but reliable.
not to mention the Apple made bloetooth and voice-recognition radios even in the base models of every vehicle standard that adapts to your speech pattern and accent. and the Most USer-Friendly nav-systems that BMW and Mercedes owners would dream of having those options and ease of use.
Trust me , you don't need no paddle's. Engine and transmission is very refined.Car is great but has busy work on controls centers. Wife and I were looking at the most expensive model's and I was amazed how well these car's are built. 47,000, is way to much for this vehicle. Yes, you can get a demo (now) for 39,000. Few can afford this car so I bought a 2.0 liter car. I also have a M cycle (52 MPG).
Agree with you -- about lack of paddle-shifters. Also with the comparisons, Ron; an ideal head to head with the Genesis R-spec would be the Chrysler 300 SRT-8.
lol Seriously though... I lived in the UK when Lexus made a half-hearted stab at the market with the LS. It didn't do well in the UK or Europe because those folks just aren't the sort of badge snobs we have in the US. Honda brought some of their Acura cars in under the Honda badge (including the NSX). I like it that Hyundai has more faith in Americans than the Japanese. Meanwhile the Genesis selling as well as the Lexus LS (~20,000 units/yr) so Hyundai must be doing something right.
Great car - best I ever owned - but most of you are right - you do get what you pay for. I was very pleased with the far less expensive car insurance. That closed the deal for me
Comon' a 23$K Hyundai Elantra has more options and tech than a 52$K Mercedes C class with most of the packages in it. Heated rear seats COOLed Front seats and voice-controlled everything (works without hesitation) adjustable Steering Stiffness and Panoramic sunroof etc
In my opinion, Hyundai is the future, and will soon surpass Toyota and Honda, Just look at the cars, the styling of a Sonata is alot nicer than the boring lines of an Accord, and the Elantra is by far nicer than a civic or a corolla.. I mean a corolla is still using a 4 speed automatic, Whats up with that? A base elantra is using a 6 speed auto with tiptronic..
Good point. All I'm saying is that changing the marketing a little bit, would definitely increase their sales. If they had a luxury brand then it would be the same thing as the Japanese did. They were very smart to do it too. Toyota: Lexus, Nissan: Infinity, Honda: Acura. Noboby who was a discerning customer who wanted a Mercedes, BMW, etc. (and had the money to spend), would have bought a Toyota, Nissan, or Honda, instead.
i perfer shifting with the stick...auto with shift tronic or manual...not a big fan of the paddel shifters but i do agree...steering wheels does need to be changed....im sure i can swap it with another one....wonder how the coupe wheel is....hummm guess what my next video im going to watch next lol
Try 62 and change after taxes. I would rather drive this then a sl 500 at least this car has quality behind it and I do not give a fuck what anyone says.
Genesis is a large sedan mustang is a coupe.... thats about as good as its gonna get with a sedan this size and its better than other cars in its class.
I don't think it would increase their sales enough to make it worth their while. It would cost them at least $20 million to create a new brand. They'd have to pass that cost on to the consumer. We're talking about adding several thousand dollars to the price of each car. For what? Everyone would still know it is a Hyundai - like everyone knows Lexus is Toyota. Launching a new brand would be a case of two steps forward, three steps back.
That is a damn pathetic complaint about the car. fuck paddles. I own a 2010 genesis and I would rather die the cough up the keys to damn thing and my year only has 375 and I still drool every time I punch it
they can most certainly reestablish themselves and they have. What about this car doesnt make it a luxury car? Luxury has nothing to do with price. It has to do with size, power, and equipment and this hyundai beats out all other cars in the same price bracket in all of those aspects andthey are considered "luxury"cars.
I'm sure this car is a great car, but someone who is considering a luxury performance sedan and can afford it, is also likely thinking about the overall prestige of the vehicle and the opinions of other people. While that really doesn't matter much, it is going to make many people who want a luxury sedan stay away from Hyundai. IMO, Hyundai would have been much better off creating a different taylor made brand name, considering the english language and American and European markets/marketing.
I just bought one and guess what..... No Bluelink. Sorry, but you got it wrong. I really got it cause I used to have the onstar in my old lacrosse and I was told that Bluelink is very similar, but now I am left alone. Oh well. Just get your facts straight next time.
16/24 mpg. $35,500. $47,000. Well, you're certainly not going to buy this car if basic economy or fuel economy is a priority for you. I certainly respect Hyundai, and I think their $17,000.-$24,000. Elantra is a winner with a fuel economy of 29/40. But I really would have serious reservations about spending $35,500. - $47,000. on a car that got the not so good numbers of 16/24. SIDE NOTE: This reviewer also got excited about the VW Passat and to some extent the VW Jetta.
eternalhalloween1 for me personally, my right foot will be very happy with that if i'm cranking that much horsepower XD but I see what you mean. have you looked at the Volvo xc90 btw? great horse power and fuel economy that would probably be more down your alley
Well, if you can afford it and like it, ok. I can tell you I had a car with plenty of horsepower, but it was drinking me out of house and home with a miserable 15 mpg. I was VERY relieved when I got a cool Dodge Shadow that was giving me close to 40 mpg.
eternalhalloween1 I had a v8 jeep for a while and worked at a Chrysler dealership where I drove SRT8 models(charger, challenger, grand Cherokee) with nearly 500 horsepower so I'm a power junkie haha
Great review. I disagree with the paddle shifting flat bottom steering wheel you believe they fell short on. It is still a luxury sedan. If you add what you want, you will not get the middle/upper class adults who like to look suttle as well as drive a car with a lot of oommph. It will look tacky in my opinion. If the sedan were a two door, sure...start competing against a Mercedes black edition or something with those steering wheel options.
If an Accord with a CVT can have paddle shifters then no reason this car shouldn't. It falls short, period. Not a whole lot of course, but let's not make excuses on this.
Everybody copies everybody and everybody buys everybody's cars to improve on theirs. Hyundai is leading in Non-luxury segment in technology. Do you need a list on what?... GDI 4 cylinders, 8 speed trannys, 4 cyl turbo replacing v6s all these harnessed and made availableinmidsize, compactsegments and affordableandbetter than the rest. Audi 2.0 T=206 HPand 28MPG SAME SIZE ENGINE HYUNDAI IS 274 HPAND 34-35 MPGa+reliability.Look at VW and Audis 3 out of 10 2.0 t engines are failing before 36 kmiles
It would have been a waste of money. People who are badge snobs won't buy this car but they wouldn't buy it if Hyundai invented a brand new name either. People who want value for money are happy that the Koreans didn't waste their money on marketing nonsense.
Hey, I don't know where you have been for the past few years.... American car makers like Dodge, Gm, and Ford are not really american cars. Look at the corvette and camaro, they are both australian v8s. Dodges is now European because fiat and alpha own them. Hyundai makes great cars. If you prefer unreliable, inefficient, cheaply built, crappy looking, numb driving cars, than please don't waste a beautiful car like the Genesis R spec and go buy a chevy impala.
I just purchased this car for my wife and didn't anticipate falling for it as we have. I can't over state how pleased we are with it. Just a lot of (premium) car for the money. We also love the way it looks (especially in platinum silver).
🧛♂️
Best review I've watched yet, not too heavy scripted to the specs on paper. Not too overly detailed and an awesome overview as well.
ever since Ron left this Chanel i don't even watch their reviews. amazing how much of a difference presenters make
You make a great review, i like how you give the actual user input (gas mileage, wheel ruggedness, ect.), and not just some manufacture stated specs, very nice review!
He does a great job on his video - very straight forward!
always reliable review...like this guy
I recommend ur video, ur comments, & evaluation. coz it's quite fun but not biased, honest, precise, clear!! Nice to see u.
WOW, you are really good at this. That's a great review.
Thanks
People who say " but its still a hyundai" apparelty have no car at all and just being jealous
@JF R lexus is 10 years behind the competition in terms of technology and performance. Genesis is doing way better than them.
@JF R the new genesis products are WAY more luxurious than anything lexus can put together. He is right. You can not say that about a lot of cars!
Awesome vehicle. Big V8 @ 429 hp
not to mention the Apple made bloetooth and voice-recognition radios even in the base models of every vehicle standard that adapts to your speech pattern and accent. and the Most USer-Friendly nav-systems that BMW and Mercedes owners would dream of having those options and ease of use.
Hyundai Gesis R-Spec GOAT
You re such a wonderful reviewer! Done!

I can tell he likes this car a lot, not a lot of review he does past 2 mins video
Nicely put together Ron....
they are bridgestone potenzas . the V6 and the V8 4.6 and 5.0 luxury has michelins. the Rspec has Potenzas
Hyundai has really come a long way now soon they will be acknowledge by any other car companies
if you own a 2001 Mustang cobra or gt... STOCK... your still well under this hyundai's horsepower..
Great review! Well done.
Love the Genesis R-Spec. If I could afford it I would get one!
Great overview, thank you.

why is this always the top comment on car vids?
Great Review

Um its 429hp not 427 🤣🤣 which 2hp won't make much difference. I'm actually picking mine up Saturday
I find it odd only the driver seat is cooled. I would pay for the cooled passenger seat
i perfer shifting with the stick...auto with shift tronic or manual...not a big fan of the paddel shifters but i do agree...steering wheels does need to be changed....im sure i can swap it with another one....wonder how the coupe wheel is....hummm guess what my next video im going to watch next lol
that steering wheel looks horrible
Check the 2014 Equss! and tell me that's not a luxury car.
Good for you. I like open minded people who are not afraid of going for what they like no matter what others say.
What happened to this host? Is he still working for this channel?
why even pop the hood anymore? those engine beauty covers suck. the hood covers the Engine, why cover it again?
Love this car.. But Hyundai c'mon, when does this 5.0 get into the Genesis Coupe?
hyundai rocks
two things: will the 5.0 reach the coupe and the 5.0 is 429 HP
Try 62 and change after taxes. I would rather drive this then a sl 500 at least this car has quality behind it and I do not give a fuck what anyone says.
Genesis is a large sedan mustang is a coupe.... thats about as good as its gonna get with a sedan this size and its better than other cars in its class.
yea that would be the deal closer for me. MT absolutely get this, without it...Might as well go with Audi A6 with DSG...
He is so right!
@ZeroAsterixz I know.. it was a joke..

Every car review should start with a burnout.

1:55 Michelin tires

Hyundai has really stepped their game up in recent years. Still probably wouldn't buy one, but great progress
Looks like an E class from the back
I thknk you got your facts wrong... its 429 hp and Michelin tires. Right? I think IM wrong.
I just bought one and guess what..... No Bluelink. Sorry, but you got it wrong. I really got it cause I used to have the onstar in my old lacrosse and I was told that Bluelink is very similar, but now I am left alone. Oh well. Just get your facts straight next time.

+eternalhalloween1 yea but over 420 horses in that beast you always have to trade off
If you can afford that trade off. Granted, gas prices have been coming down recently. But I still wouldn't be happy with 16/24.
eternalhalloween1 for me personally, my right foot will be very happy with that if i'm cranking that much horsepower XD but I see what you mean. have you looked at the Volvo xc90 btw? great horse power and fuel economy that would probably be more down your alley

Gwynne, -I'm right and you are wrong. Just kidding ;-)
It's a lurxurycardommy guy
To each his own :)
everyone does dude
Thumbs up if like don't like the R Spec in this video because it's lacking TWO horsepower. LOL
Great review. I disagree with the paddle shifting flat bottom steering wheel you believe they fell short on. It is still a luxury sedan. 5.0L mustang makes 420hp and 390lb-ft torque and still gets better gas mileage with only a 6 speed....
If an Accord with a CVT can have paddle shifters then no reason this car shouldn't. It falls short, period. Not a whole lot of course, but let's not make excuses on this.
hmm every company does.
I really hate Hyundai to the bones because they don't launch this car in my country.
429
429hp wow
#WANT

That's a childish way of talking.
Nice car, but Horrible wheels.
What a shit car...no one can made v8 better than usa cars. .
