- It is official. Calaca is now a city. We are driving to Calaca City from Tagaytay City, Cavite via Madalunot Road.
This is the City of Calaca, a component city in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 87,361 people.
The cityhood of Calaca town in Batangas has been successfully ratified in a plebiscite.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) declared the municipality of Calaca, Batangas, as a component city on Sept. 3, 2022, with an overwhelming 29,424 yes votes against 3,781 no votes.
Calaca can now enjoy the privilege of a full-fledged city.

Nice pero Congress must enact the law on how to become a city. Kahit ma meet yung population or income criteria, include yung mga basic...good road without obstruction, walkable sidewalks, palengke maayos, walang problema sa basura, good drainage, walang open sewer. Meron parks not only malls. Itaas dapat qualifications.

I prefer Calaca way back 80's and 90's , malinis ang dalampasigan at beaches, but now punong puno ng mga pier at mga planta, sakit sa Mata tingnan
Sana magkaendeavor na mapreserve yung poblacion area as heritage zone. Kahit maliit na area lang na madaming lumang bahay at may church.

I think the Congress should higher or add more qualifications for cityhood not just the income, population and geographical size of the town. I think they should also like kung mukha talagang city ang lugar, how congested the place, road infrastructures, commercials, etc. Mayaman nga Calaca, but it looks nothing like a city. Well, hopefully may developments na ngayon dahil matagal na ang video na ito. Pero comparing Calaca sa Baliwag and Carmona, which are also new cities, Calaca is far behind.
We will visit again Calaca soon for our Batangas Series. Let’s see if may new developments ☺️

how to commute from Manila to Calaca?
We're not sure po, but there's a bus from PITX that is bound for Balayan, Calatagan, Batangas City. these might pass Calaca city. Let's wait for other people who actually know, to comment 🙂

From buendia, ride DLTB bus bound to Lemery. Then hop off in Lemery Terminal (infront of Xentro Mall). From the termina, you can ride jeep, van or Bus bound to Nasugbu or Balayan.

Marami Po proyekto s Calaca city n nkalatag na stadium,hotel, widening road, etc etc
Lemery, in my opinion, is more qualified to be a city than this town.
Same thoughts here, either Lemery or Nasugbu. I guess they considered the profitability and the location siguro since it's located at the center of Batangas District 1. 🙂
Baka di sila nag file for cityhood? Once ma reach na kasi ng isang municipality ang requirements para maging city, pwede na silang mag apply at mag submit ng papers for cityhood sa malacañang tas ipo-proclaim ng president thru a presidential decree tas mag plebiscite agad kung saan boboto yung mga tao sa munisipyo if Yes or No to conversion into a city
Kahit pa kasi ma reach na ng isang munisipyo ang requirements para maging city, kung di naman sila nag file for cityhood, wala ring mangyayari. For example Taytay, Rizal. Overqualified na siya para maging city pero hanggang ngayon municipality parin.

ung lemery 92 million ln ang locally income..hindi rin pasado sa population kaya hindi pa pwd maging city..ung calaca 517 million ang locally income nila.kaya pasado prin khit hindi pa abot ang population
