Such a sad story. As an educator in a public school, I see picking and bullying quite often among students. It starts small and slowly builds up. The key is to be aware of what’s going on and step in when it first begins. I don’t allow that crap to even start in my classroom.

I have a feeling some teachers tend to look away, is that correct?

Not necessarily look away, @@hankracicot1059. Some teachers don’t take picking on students very seriously until it becomes a major problem. In this day and time, I feel you have to take action on these situations before anything ever starts. First day of school, our class makes a social contract that we all sign and agree to follow certain rules, procedures, and principles. When they start to get out of line, even in the slightest of ways, I point them in the direction of our social contract that hangs up in front of the classroom from Day 1 all the way to Day 180, and ask both students, “Are we being kind and respectful like we agreed to, like you committed to with your signature?” That kind of tough love reminder stops a lot of this stuff right away. And if they continue to break that social contract, they lose that recess time in the afternoon. Kids hate to lose any part of their recess or any other privilege they have in my classroom. That kind of tough love typically keeps a lot of that picking on other students to a minimum and doesn’t fester into all out bullying.

It would be helpful to know what the police think about this situation.

Another thing I forgot to mention in the video: the boy killed himself on a Saturday night. Odd. You would think he would do it on Friday night, when the bullying was most fresh on his mind, or Sunday night, when having to face going back to school in the morning. Saturday night? Why not enjoy one last day with the family?

1.) Im going down there for myself as a parent and raising heck (legally and with documentation etc)
2.) They dont take it serious Im pulling my kid and we going to another school
3.) Net is off or we blocking his IPAD. Since schools required to have these electronics now
Institutions can be corrupt or complacent. 17 minute video and no Adderall advisory!? Thumbs UP!!

If they don't sue, you'll know the story is fake.
