i'm shocked over the news about max. he would have been the last one i would have thought oh turning himself in or getting caught. i'm thinking he's going to get suspended. thanks for the news cam.
WADA will change the thresholds in 2027 because now the tests are too much sensitive and you can get contaminated too easily. As WADA's director said, probably ten years ago Sinner and Iga would have had their tests negative. Purcell case seems a little bit different
If he had managed to overturn the suspension then it would have remained secret until the sentence was issued, as happened with Swiatek and Sinner, but since he is suspended and cannot play then it is made public.
Because he has accepted a provisional suspension while it's investigated. When it's not made public it's because they have successfully appealed the provisional suspension and it then remains confidential until the eventual judgement
The problem is, as WADA have now recognised, that tests are very sophisticated and are picking up very low levels of contamination- this is why they plan to introduce new thresholds in 2027. Unfortunately that doesn't helo anyone right now and gives the impression loads of players are cheating when they are not.
@@longinusgalaxy411 Yes, unfortunately it's impossible to know when the substance entered a person's system, so we really don't know if that "minute amount" is just the half life of a larger amount or represents a true contamination.
@longinusgalaxy411 that is of course a possibility and something WADA needs to think about when they introduce new thresholds. I personally don't see why successful athletes would take the risk with random testing etc. It's your career on the line. In Sinner's case he also had 2 positive tests within 8 days both with similar trace amounts- this would seem the support the team's account of contamination over a number of days when the physio was treating his finger, rather than the final trace not flushing out- why would it be there 8 days later in that scenario?
@@longinusgalaxy411you cannot flush your system for these types of tests. These are blood and hair sample tests. You can flush out your urine, but most of these tests are done by blood.
Purcell is a commoner and not royalty like Sinner or Iga, so he should be expecting a very long drawn out case like many others. Clearly the laws will be applied much more rigorously on him.
True. In fact Iga is very low ranked: 1 month, end of the story. Sinner: wada appeal (first ever), one year on the grill... One rule and worst treatment for the no 1 and different for the others
So a lower ranked journeyman like purcell gets banned straight away, but sinner and iga who are rich get off pretty much scott free. All cheats should be treated the same.
Purcell volunteered. If he didn't, may have never been found out. Maybe he suspects something or did something intentional unlike Sinner. Sinner also did get a provisional suspension.
The cases of Swiatek and Sinner were accidental and involuntary contamination, neither deserved a disqualification (and with the new regulation that will come into force in 2027 identical cases will not even be suspended), about Purcell nothing is known yet except that unlike Sinner he did not appeal to overturn the suspension or if he did it was rejected.

Sinner needs a 2 year ban and Iga needs a longer ban. At this point tennis is the new cycling 🤮🤮🤮. Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, and a Men’s Doubles slam champion all failed tests??? What is this?
At this rate in 2030, Ice Coffee will be a banned substance
