  • Had a lot of fun flying my ‪@prismkites‬ Sky Candy Hypnotist!
The wind made flying a little unpredictable at times, from a smooth 10 mph to wind gusts into the 20s.

Great fun & now when I get back to NE, I'm going to have to get a stunt kite out & fly!

They are a lot of fun, even if it's just doing loops. Hopefully next summer I can learn how to do more. 😄

I have not figured out how to loop the kite and keep control ie once the bridles are twisted, being able to untwist (loop in the other direction) and keep the kite in the air. New at this, clearly! Love the tail on it!

If possible, only try to do one loop at first. Fly the kite as high as it'll go and gently pull & hold on one line. Watch the nose of the kite and once it's pointing up, stop pulling by returning your hand back. Both hands should be even with each other.
Doing bigger loops are much easier to control.

It should be fairly intuitive, Stacey. With slick, quality control lines, you should hardly notice a difference in handling with just one or two twists.
If you bought a cheaper sport kite, it's likely it came with lines that are not very suitable for sport kites.
If you have Dyneema lines, then this isn't the issue, in which case I'm not sure what to say, other than fly a loop, then regain some altitude before untwisting in the reverse direction. If your loops are large circles, try tightening them by punch-turning. To turn left, punch forward with the right as you pull back with the left. While practicing punch turns, you'll notice you can even make the kite turn without pulling on a wing at all. From neutral, just punch right to make a large left turn and you'll see what I mean. Punch one hand, while pulling the other will turn that kite on a dime. If this is an "Ah-ha!" moment for you, then make an afternoon of practicing super-tight punch turns. Try flying in a perfect square by performing a series of 90 degree punch turns.

That tail looks great on it

      They match perfectly.
Been trying to figure out why the tail(s) don't inflate all the way. Usually they only inflate about the first 20 feet. I've tried rolling them up instead of just stuffing them in the bag, but it doesn't seem to help. 🤷‍♂️

@@JaredSmithWKC they may have some moisture in them that is holding the 2 sides together. Try a leaf blower or a hairdryer on cool down the opening. 😉

@eliotswett6608 I have used a leaf blower on them and I have been rolling them up nicely. Not helping 🤷‍♂️

I know this is 2 years old, but when I was in my late teens, flying kites, especially my Trilby diamond kites, I wanted tube tails.
I was told that they tend to stick half way, so it was just better to get a ribbon/straight tail.
One guy interrupted our conversation. He said he uses tube tails on some of his large RC gliders.
He stated that he buys a medium small size baby powder, clamps one end of the tail shut, and dumps the whole bottle in the open end.
Then he works it all down to the end, and pours what's left back into the bottle.
He stated that you could use a leaf blower, but it doesn't always coat the inside properly.
My son is 15, and yesterday, for the first time, I brought out my remaining kites that I had in the mid 90's, (94) and he actually enjoyed it, so I'm just checking out newer kites and tails, so reading this comment, i just wanted to share.
Sorry for rambling, and if your still flying, try that baby powder trick!

how hard is it to learn to fly this kite as a novice? I have no experience with stunt kites is this something that is learnable? it looks so fun!

If you do get one, definitely make sure the lines are the same length before flying.

How did you attach the tails to each other? Did you just sleeve the tail of the first one over the opening of the second one or something like that?

    • @JaredSmithWKC
      @JaredSmithWKC  ปีที่แล้ว

@@farklek there are loops at the end of each tail that you can hook them to.

@@JaredSmithWKC that's great I'll have to try it! I have one 75ft tail already so when I order my next kite I'm going to add a second tail too it. I really like the effect of the extra long tail! Btw nice flying!
