I loved my Syncros...both of mine had the rear locker. I had an '87 in that same color. I pulled a cow out of a mud hole out in the desert in Southern New Mexico. Interestingly enough now I have a 1997 Land Cruiser with front and rear lockers. Really miss all that space in the Syncro.
That's funny you mention the space. We just got back from a trip to Yellowstone in our Land Cruiser and the whole time I kept thinking how much I missed the space of the Syncro. We were doing 75-80 mph on the way home though and got about 17.5 mpg. Can't do that in our Syncro. They are both very cool vehicles and a couple of my all time favorites. Thanks for watching. JC.
Before watching the outcome, I would have said the tyres and the pull angle would make a difference here. The Land Cruiser seemed to be pulling almost horizontally, which can't help since it needs to come out almost vertically.
With a strap over a spare tire pulling up before pulling forward every vehicle could have pulled the culvert out. I pulled a 3/4 long bed Chevrolet 4x4 out of hub depth mud with a Suzuki Samurai using the strap over the spare tire method when 2 other Chevrolet full size 4x4 pickup trucks couldn't get it out. Shocked everyone to see a little lightweight Suzuki Samurai pull it out.
That was a good video, different flavor of sorts & yet a fairly real world comparison. Much better than say the stuper duper 4wd type shit! Syncro gave it's best tho - to a stall.

@@Volkswear the only thing slower was taking my 23 window bus on a 6000 mile journey. 😜

That's a nice group of rigs right there!
That was fun, I’d like to try something like that. I think it’s cool how a lower horsepower’s vehicle can pull more. Amazing what gearing can do

Syncro did try pretty hard. It just doesn't have the gears. It's still probably my favorite or at least top 10. ;)
This is way the swiss army is using pintzgaiers!!!
Looks like you straightened out the cocked bumper on the VW.
I was really rooting for the Soggy Syncro :(
should of tried pulling at "right angle".
