    There are about 350 different types of sharks, but researchers think there are other sharks that haven’t been discovered yet. Now let’s look at the top 10 facts about sharks!
    Number 10. Sharks do not have bones. Sharks use their gills to filter oxygen from the water.
    Number 9. Most sharks have good eyesight.
    Most sharks can see well in dark lighted areas, have fantastic night vision, and can see colors
    Number 8 Shark skin feels exactly like sandpaper because it is made up of tiny teeth-like structures called placoid scales while help the shark swim faster
    Number 7 Sharks have been around a very long time.
    Based on fossil scales found scientists hypothesize sharks first appeared in the ocean around 455 million years ago.
    Number 6 The Whale shark is considered the biggest fish in the world and weighs about 90,000 pounds
    Number 5 Most kinds of sharks can swim up to 20-40 miles per hour. The Mako shark is said to be able to swim at more than 60 miles per hour.

    Number 2 Unlike other species of shark, the great white is warm-blooded.The great white does not keep a constant body temperature so it needs to eat alot of meat to stay warm
    Number 1 The largest shark teeth found belonged to a Megalodon shark and are 6 inches long. This shark is extinct and lived more than 4.5 million years ago.
