"To the Calvinist" - A Voice Clarified, by Leonard Ravenhill

  • The Idolatry of Church History:
"We've too many preachers studying Church History, and too few preachers making history. Studying Church History is an indoctrination which, very often becomes I think... 'brain washing'." (beware of "blind indoctrination")
Is modern Christianity the blood-bought Church?
"He didn't die for this freak of a thing! This powerless thing! This pale, pathetic, powerless, putrid Protestantism that dares to label itself with His Name!"
Is the Holy Ghost always with a man?
"The Holy Ghost may not come back to you...
Some of you preachers are preaching a theology and you're sheltering behind a denomination, and you're scared stiff to preach the revelations God has given you..."
"God's going to do a new thing in this generation."
    How does a Saint Backslide?
"Resist. Strive. Grieve. ...when you finish that, He leaves you. You can't get back to God when you want."
    Blood Atonement:
"I have to put off the old man.
I have to put on the new man.
I have to renounce this world..."
"We're living in bankruptcy as the Church of Jesus Christ, compared with where we ought to live."
"Paul says, you're to put on the whole armor of God - it's not something automatic you've got to put it on."
(shun over-simplistic definitions of The Atonement)
    To the Backslider:
"Tonight, in one act of mercy, He can take your record and cast it behind His back forever..."
"He'll be weeping until you come back. You said no to His blood."
(a backslider is a regenerated man under the guilt of unforgiven sin)
    Cleansing From Sin:
"Lord, I'm glad that Fountain is still open tonight..."
(cleansing from sin is a present continuous experience)
We're Going to be Found Out:
"But if I am living now with eternal life, why should I need to change before I get into heaven?"
"'Don't you worry, God will never forsake you... it doesn't matter, you may leave Him but He will never leave you.' That is entirely against the scripture."
"If the Spirit troubles you this morning, thank God He is troubling you... before you go to hell."
    What Pastoral Burden?
"You think they'd go in to that sin if they had an eye on the Judgment Seat?"
(that the fallen would be restored by rediscovering the Judgment Seat)
    The State of the Church:
    "The Church is asleep today."
"God only had one problem in the Old Testament, and that was Israel. And I believe Almighty God only has one problem in the world tonight, and it's not communism or romanism, it's the Church of the Living God!" "The Glory has departed!"
(the Church has fallen asleep... are you awake?)
    The Church needs God:
"You're too late, I'm getting rid of you. Your House is left desolate.
You say America needs God, no she doesn't... the Church needs God! If the Church gets God, America would soon feel it - she'd be staggering."
"There's one promise God hasn't kept... I think He's about to do it: He said He'd spew us out of His mouth."
    Who's the Bride of Christ?
    #1) Him that overcometh.
#2) Those of us who are living in victory
    #3) Walking in the Light.
    #4) Walking in the Spirit.
    #5) No bitterness.
    #6) No defeat.
#7) Your living in union with the will of God.
#8) People hate you and despise you.
"You don't want Jesus to come as you are now..."
    The State of the Church:
"Your Church has no vision, because you have no vision. The Church has no passion, because you have no passion."
"He's not coming for a limping, lame, ragged woman..."
"The hindrance to His coming tonight is that the Church is impure." "Do you think Jesus died for this dirty, rotten system we call 'Christianity'?" (preacher, have you prepared the Bride?)
    A Midnight Cry:
"There is only one reason that the world is going to hell tonight, and that is because of the unbelief of the Church."
"I believe almost (not all), almost every pulpit in the land is an insult to the Lord Jesus today." (will you respond to the cry?)

I notice you left out the sexual connotation in the word, your position is a gateway to some very evil stuff, I repeat, nowhere does my Bible say this. Suggest you think on this; "THAT YE MAY PUT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOLY AND UNHOLY, AND BETWEEN CLEAN AND UNCLEAN." Leviticus 10;10. We will continue to disagree no doubt.

One thing I couldn't shake was how easy it was to do dirt and hard it was to stay clean. This is mostly after I got clean so it's crazy to look around with, only with the Holy Ghost and it is impossible to deny. I know the world a little, but I want to live God's word. A moment to share what I am coming to know, and maybe the last time I speak it before I get lost in the word. Jesus Christ is my teacher and my saviour, and I desire to be like Him, and it is because He pulled me from a pit where I was beginning to believe I was alone. The devil thinks he has you when you're in that pit. That dark force controlled my thoughts and I've been clean for about three years. Jesus Christ pulled me from that pit and showed me my family and loved ones, through His love. I saw more deception, but it is our faith in Him that carries us through. My brothers and sisters, it is only going to head towards the downward pull! The world is heading that way, but walk with Jesus, follow God's commandments and laws of life, and stay hungry! NOT paranoid, hungry for God's word, for the Holy Ghost to show you the way. to allow Jesus to come alive in you. Stay strong in Jesus Christ!

    • @dennisking4589
      @dennisking4589 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Brother, I know that pit, was born in it. thought I could crawl my way out on righteousness, only to find myself dragging my children and wife into it. Christ found us and only through His Grace I found faith enough to let Him lift me out. Continue in Christ Brother, it is not much longer now.
      Come quickly Lord Jesus. Amen.

Watchman D How many times are we supposed to forgive a brother? 7x70 in a day according to Jesus Matthew 18:22 Do you think that He extends the same forgiveness? Of course He does, if He didn't, it would make Him a hypocrite. We just have to ask for it, of course we can't continue living in sin, but you will sin again. Whether it's pride, lust, greed, etc. sin can take place in your heart, not just in action. much love brothers and sisters Jesus Christ is King

    • @jasonvanengelenhoven3063
      @jasonvanengelenhoven3063 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@Watchman D i dont think Kevins comment said "HE HAS TO REPENT CONSTANTLY."
I believe he was commenting on the conviction Leonard Ravenhills sermons make him feel...(something good preaching does) and when Kevin feels that conviction, it cause him to repent of all of his shortcomings and sins and imperfections.
REPENTING is exactly what we need to do when we feel that conviction...

      @brandedforchrist 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Watchman D we die to self everyday , there's none that's good no not one.. we always pick up our cross and follow him everyday , it's not a one day thing , it's a narrow path and he didn't tell us it was going to be easy ,we fall short everyday but we pick up ourselves and carry our cross..I believe you do same too .. God is working on each and everyone who saw this video from start to finish .. God bless everyone who is pursuing holiness 💛

    • @jasonvanengelenhoven3063
      @jasonvanengelenhoven3063 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Watchman D are you saying you are perfect and no longer sin?
I have never met a Christian who would say they are perfect this side of heaven.
We all fall short when comparing ourselves to Christ. When someone says they are convicted by a message, it can mean they feel convicted of a certain sin...of that was the focus of the sermon. But other times saying you feel convicted can simply mean "I need to try harder at that thing the sermon was talking about."
None of us love God perfectly each day or our neighbor or our enemies perfectly each day.
None of us are as patient as Christ either and we can all work on being more patient.
So you see, it doesn't have to be a disobey and repent, disobey and repent cycle as you describe. There are more options and meanings attached to the phrase "I FEEL CONVICTED BY THAT MESSAGE," then to just assume as you did that ANYONE who says that MUST be living a lifestyle of habitually sinning and disobeying God and then simply repenting so they can feel better and then go back to their sin all over again...which is what it seems like you are implying.
I don't think anyone here in the comment section was trying to give a defense of that behavior and I believe we all would be against that as you are.
      Hope that helps.

I have studied Calvin and understand the theology-- I don't live in fear of losing my salvation--But listening to Ravenhill convicts me that I should never get comfortable in that knowledge because I can become an ineffective Christian: 1 John 5:10-12
The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
If we truly have the Son--or as Paul said he was apprehended by Christ-- then we will live in light of eternity!

The man executed was going against the law. Christianity says follow the law of the land or be punished. I do not agree with theocratic govt but these facts are true. It was the state that executed Servetus not Calvin. Calvin only provided testimony I think.
Calvin agreed with his death but wanted a quick clean death, not by fire. The authorities above Calvin burnt the man Servetus alive. Calvin warned Servetus at least once not to come back to Geneva or he would be punished by the state for heresy but Servetus did anyway in rebellion.

    • @Hebrew42Day
      @Hebrew42Day 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@praying saint - no, many of the martyrs murdered by Calvin and the Catholic Church worshipped God of the Bible.
Michael Servetus, a Spaniard, physician, scientist and Bible scholar, suffered a worse fate. He was Calvin's longtime friend who resisted the authority of the Roman Catholic Church. However, he angered Calvin by returning a copy of Calvin's Institutes with critical comments in the margins. The next time Servetus attended Calvin's Sunday preaching service on a visit, Calvin had him arrested and charged with heresy. The 38 official charges included rejection of the Trinity and infant baptism. Servetus pleaded to be beheaded instead of the more brutal method of burning at the stake, but Calvin and the city council refused the quicker death method.

and I am also right there regarding intimacy with God, and understanding, Jesus is a Person-not a concept or a set of doctrines. But, I also won’t write doctrine off because of the fear of it becoming that. Doctrine is of extreme importance, to the degree that my vision and understanding of God expands and ignites greater love for Him.

My friend, you just gave the best answer possible. The bible is written as instructions to us, and is a means to an end to fix mankind through redemption, and become more and more godly, that we may love God as it was in the garden: without effort through the power of the Holy Spirit.
What a great way of putting into words what I feel on the inside, and could not put into words. Bless you in Jesus name.
In short: the more we obey, the more we get of the Holy Spirit, and from there, more of the Love of God; rinse, and repeat.

I just left a denomination that is all about Scriptural theology and God's sovernty, (as far as the leaders in the church acting like gods). I have been though 5 years of theological studies (or training) of how to understand the Bible and how to run a church like a business. But I have never seen the power of God move a any significant way. I have resolved to just go with what the Bible says. just like the preacher which is preaching. Jesus said "I will build my church" Matt 16:13-20 KJV. Our job is to give out the truth that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God. and teach all doctrine and truths from the Word of God.

There is no way that the sovereignty of God has changed and will ever
change because of situations in this universe. God works situations out
for the benefit of those who love Him and seek His will for their lives.
      (Rom 8:28)
I strongly believe that what has conspired the last year has brought me
closer to the Lord God. It was in His plan to have it happen the way it
did so that I will be more dependent upon Him. A year ago when this whole
fiasco started I was considering going into full time secular work and
forget about the ministry. That was with the thought that if what the
Baptist College in Winkler, MB, Canada (which is where I did four years of
training) taught about pastoral authority is correct than all ministry
doors would be closed by God and would not be opened to me again. But by
the grace and mercy of my Lord Jesus Christ, of whom I try to seek above
all else, has opened more doors and we had the first church service in the
area where God has called me to minister (Camperville, MB, Canada) on Aug
      28, 2016. (Matt 6:33) Praise the LORD.
Like I told those pastors “I am through with putting my dependence upon men
and man-made organizations, my sole dependence is upon the Lord Jesus
Christ”. I wish for everyone to feel the liberty which we (my wife and I)
have felt from the day we kick off the denominationalism from our back to
      now. (2 Cor 3:17)
*Heb **4:14* Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed
into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast *our* profession.
*Heb **4:15* For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the
feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as *we are,
      yet* without sin.
*Heb **4:16* Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we
may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

I believe that the pastoral authority that most churches and collages teach is demonic and not of God. It is no different than the authority of the Pope and the Catholic fathers (priests) have over their subjects. Christ wants a relationship with all His children not through a man (pastor) to His children and or servants. There is a time when baby Christians need to have their hands held and there is a time to let go of that hand so they can grow in and with the LORD Jesus Christ.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Many times pastors have advice me against what God had told me to do. Those things I did anyways and now I know that they were to prepare me for the ministry I am in now. If a person is taking the place of Christ in a person's life that is either of demonic or phycotic influences. That is a very strong statment I know. I have seen many people hurt and turned away from Christ because of that. Most of the people I am dealing with now are in that state. Now I did not say the people that teach and or practice pastoral authority as it is known in most circles are demonic I said that teaching is demonic. I stand by that because of its very destructive results. Look at the dead churches around you. This conversation encouraged me because I think you are a life one. PRAISE THE LORD.

You are right that the current pastoral authority seen in churches is not of God. Lord Jesus said clearly “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their superiors exercise authority over them. It shall not be this way among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Yet the pastoral system in constitutional churches go against this command of Jesus and lord it over the laity.
Lord Jesus also rebuked a group called Nicolaitans in Revelations, and according to my research, the name itself means having lordship over the laymen, which is what the pastoral system is all about. Modern pastors follow the teachings of Balaam (serving God for money - commercialisation of Christianity) and Nicolaitans - both of which the Lord condemned.

I'm not a Calvinist, in fact I profoundly disagree with full five point Calvinism, but I believe this video is intentionally misrepresenting Ravenhill. Ravenhill was not a Calvinist but neither was he a Calvinist basher. None of the sermons from which these excerpts were taken were addressed specifically to Calvinists. If the maker of this video has something to say then hadn't they better man up and say it their own words instead of trying to impose their own agenda on another man's preaching.

There is nothing wrong with knowing the history of the church my friend. Like all forms of knowledge, nothing but God's Word, received meekly and obeyed willingly can save the soul. Nevertheless, you don't stop learning and reading. I read the scriptures everyday. Sometimes a book at a time and am grateful for the saving power of Jesus Christ. However, I have many books on my bookshelf that have helped me to understand God's Word a little better than I would have understood it on my own. These books have challenged me to look further into the scriptures and have caused me to examine my life more carefully and turn to Christ with greater passion. Without a doubt, the Bible is the only living book, able to bring revelation and faith to the heart. But we need not discount all other literature because it is not divinely authored. As a child you needed many books my friend in order to give you what you needed to be able to actually read the bible. I am not saying this about you, but I have met too many super spiritual believers who discount any form of knowledge outside of the bible as being wrong. They look down at people whom God has given mighty intellect (Just like the Apostle Paul himself, a might man of the Word and powers of reason) almost like it is a sin to be rational, realistic and reasonably intelligent in ones view of life. Please don't do this friend because Jesus is loving to all who would come to Him. To the fool and the wise, the rich and poor, He receives and welcomes all who would truly repent and believe the gospel. God bless you brother and may your heart remain steadfast in the Love of Christ.

Have you really listened to what Ravenhill said? I'm seriously concerned that our doctrines often mask the fact that were responsible to listen to God and do one simple act. Trust the testimony of Jesus when He says "Believe Me!" If you do this, you will stop trusting your own understanding! You will search the Word of God to find out what He wants of you! At that point you will begin to understand that He will provide direction for your life! This is a simple expansion of Proverbs 3:5,6! Like Ravenhill, I call you to do what God tells us to do. If you listen and do what God tells you to do, you will be a new creation 2nd Corinthians 5:17. I pray for you! LISTEN TO WHAT GOD SAYS AND DO WHAT HE SAYS! Meet God today!

Right , and you never can know, as a Calvinist you hold to the position that Jesus's blood is not effacious enough (all powerful enough) to save the world, but was only meant for the elect. "By the law comes the knowledge of Sin".... an 8 month old cannot know the law, and cannot know of the Light of Jesus Christ spoken of in John "now that have no excuse for their sin" ... so to believe you are "chosen" is not only blasphemy but outright arrogance... Almost 9 times out of 10 EVERY Calvinist I have spoken with or talked to their major stumbling area is "PRIDE" .. and they are puffed up... 'i'm chosen.. i'm the elect'... well let me ask you... how do you know you're the elect.. and how can an 8 month old "know" they are of the elect or even have a chance of being born again.... that is saying to God.... "ok God, well I don't know about this.. and even though that 8 month old might not have been "elect" she could be in hell and screaming for it's mothers breast" That is NOT THE GOD WE SERVE. scripture clearly states... "by the law comes the knowledge of Sin".. if you don't know you're a sinner, you have no chance or ability or desire to "repent" and come to God. I pray you would look more into Calvinism friend and why attach a name to your belief... and why not just say "you know what.... i'm just a believer, i'm a Christian".... I liked billy graham.. but I don't say... i'm a grahmist' or graminizer .. or you get the idea..... Calvin was a Blatant outright murderer.. over 35 people under his order or hand... "no murderer (practicing) shall inherit the kingdom of heaven.. so the very man you "attach" yourself to was in fact a murderer friend.. do we now go around killing people who do not agree with us? Lord Forbid... Alvin died a practicing murdering False Teacher.... show me ONE verse in the bible that says "ONLY the elect will be saved"... God says "God does not desire that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance"... you take the one cherry picked "predestined" verse and base an entire sect to it.... I pray you will consider what I have had to say, no I did not have an 8 month old that died..... but as an analogy because I knew you would have no answer for it... and as a Christian there is an answer for everything and every question in the bible.... here is a link to a great quote said by a President about John Calvin.... I suggest you rethink your "position" and why you have to attach a name to your belief... it's the doctrine, the Word, not a man ... we are Christians... believers.. that's it............(ps. he was not "of God, nor did he "hear".... the love of God would have prevented Him, not motivated him to kill dozens of people" yes? 1st john 4:6-8...........www.google.com/search?biw=1033&bih=480&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=i5bgWsv4NIugtQWjir_YCA&q=jefferson+calvin+quote&oq=jefferson+calvin+quote&gs_l=psy-ab.3...109821.113365.0.113517.24.14.1.5.5.0.278.1990.0j9j2.11.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..7.15.1929...0j0i67k1j0i8i30k1j0i30k1j0i5i30k1.0.vYfXpiAp23A#imgrc=aI54O8fBIkn0PM:&spf=1524668157692

@@benredeemed7204 Ever notice how it is really hard to rail on how prideful everyone else is without coming off looking like the prideful one? A lot of your claims sound like you are too proud to even be bothered to know what Calvinists actually teach.
_"as a Calvinist you hold to the position that Jesus's blood is not effacious[sic] enough (all powerful enough) to save the world, but was only meant for the elect."_
Calvinists say the atonement was sufficient for all but efficient for the elect.
_" an 8 month old cannot know the law, and cannot know of the Light of Jesus Christ spoken of in John "now that have no excuse for their sin""_
Don't look down on children, they are smarter than you think. Besides, there is only one way of salvation, the grace of God, not two, one for young people and another for adults.
_"so to believe you are "chosen" is not only blasphemy but outright arrogance..."_
If the Bible says Christians are chosen, it isn't arrogance to submit to what the Bible teaches.
_"Almost 9 times out of 10 EVERY Calvinist I have spoken with or talked to their major stumbling area is "PRIDE" .."_
Well, I've heard Calvinists say all sin is related to pride, the lifting of man above God and his law, so that would make sense.
_"and they are puffed up... 'i'm chosen.. i'm the elect'..."_
If you are a Christian, you are elect too! This isn't a claim we are making about Calvinists only.
_"they are of the elect or even have a chance of being born again...."_
FYI, salvation isn't by chance, but by the grace of God. I think it is odd that non-Calvinists so often associate putting away their trust of salvation in their own deeds (a prayer, a repentant act, a belief or faith they produce in themselves, or something else that originated in them) and placing it in God alone by his grace with the notion of being saved by 'chance' or 'randomness' or 'luck' as if God can't do any better than man or God needs man's help, or worse, as if God isn't an intelligent person but more like a naturalistic phenomenon. It really makes me concerned about who they think God is.
_"I pray you would look more into Calvinism friend and why attach a name to your belief..."_
It's because (ironically enough) a Lutheran used the term and the name stuck. You'll find the term 'Reformed' or 'Presbyterian' to be a much more common self describer for Calvinist churches and denominations.
      _"i'm just a believer, i'm a Christian"...."_
Is Christ divided? If you are going to claim that Calvinists are following a man because of the name "Calvinism", you place yourself under Paul's condemnation of dividing Christ by claiming to be a "Christian". It is amazing how often people use 1 Cor 1: 10-17 to be divisive when the passage is against that very thing.
_"Calvin was a Blatant outright murderer.. over 35 people under his order or hand..."_
[Citation needed] Personally, I don't blame the pastor of the town when the city council tries and executes criminals, but that's just me.
_"God says "God does not desire that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance"..."_
Do read verse 8 which gives the context. Notice the change from the 'scoffers' of 1-7 who have a day of judgment prepared for them to the 'beloved' of which God does not want any to perish. That is the problem with single verse theology, it makes a great sound bite, 2 Pet 3 is really teaching something quite different if we allow Peter's full thought to come out.
_"and as a Christian there is an answer for everything and every question in the bible...."_
Sweet! So what passage explicitly says that all humans below age X will be saved? Some are, such as David's child, but I don't know where it teaches that all are.

Lying and distortion is also sin. Servetus was the only one ever that Calvin was sideling involved with. However it was not the 21th.. cent. It was the 16th. Should we stop reading the Gospel because Luke 9:54 When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do You want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?” 55 But Jesus turned and rebuked them,…
Peter was planning to split his Scull not his ear but Jesus made the sword go beside the head : John 18:10-11 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
After being condemned by Catholic authorities in France who were going to kill him, Servetus fled to Calvinist Geneva. On 4 April 1553 Servetus was arrested by Roman Catholic authorities, and imprisoned in Vienne. He escaped from prison three days later. On 17 June, he was convicted of heresy, and sentenced to be burned with his books. In his absence, he and his books were burned in effigy.
Meaning to flee to Italy, Servetus inexplicably stopped in Geneva, where Calvin and his Reformers had denounced him. On 13 August, he attended a sermon by Calvin at Geneva. He was arrested after the service and again imprisoned.
Nicholas de la Fontaine played the more active role in Servetus's prosecution and the listing of points that condemned him. Calvin could not have stopped it. He tried to change burning to beheading but they would not listen to him. If Calvin would have suggested to let Servetus go free that would never have happened. At his trial, Servetus was condemned on two counts, for spreading and preaching Nontrinitarianism, specifically, Modalistic Monarchianism, or Sabellianism. and Servetus had said, about infant baptism "It is an invention of the devil, an infernal falsity for the destruction of all Christianity."
As Servetus was not a citizen of Geneva, and legally could at worst be banished, the government, in an attempt to find some plausible excuse to disregard this legal reality, had consulted other Swiss Reformed cantons (Zürich, Bern, Basel, Schaffhausen). We have to place all this in the 1400 - 1500 and not in the 20th. Century.
We do not follow a man Calvin we follow Scripture. An enormous happening all over Europe and later even beyond was not a work of a man but of God. Calvin was just a small part of the Reformation. God used Martin Luther a thirty-three-year-old Augustinian friar. Shortly after the Luther nailed the 95 teases, what was later called the Reformation started. The impact it had cannot be men’s work. Reformations arose all over Europe. From town to town, preachers started to bring out the heresies of the pope church and told the parishioners that they should no longer put up with the rules of the Roman Catholic church Luther led the movement mostly by his writings. Meanwhile, he did what he thought was his main job in life, teaching the Bible at the University of Wittenberg. The Reformation wasn’t led, exactly; it was the Holy Spirit working. Besides the Catholic church there were only the Waldensians founded by Peter Waldo in Lyon around 1173 In 1520 the joint the reformation with William Farel who became good friends with Calvin
Calvin wrote commentaries on the whole Bible except Revelations. This while no complete work was available. What was available was mostly short portions and spiritual.
William Tyndale was an English scholar who became a leading figure in the Protestant Reformation in the years leading up to his execution. He is well known for his translation of the Bible into English. Born: 1494, Kingdom of England Died: October 6, 1536, being Burned at the stake. Why not call it Tyndalism instead of Calvinism.
Jan Hus, sometimes Anglicized as John Hus or John Huss, was a Czech theologian, philosopher, master, dean, and rector of the Charles and he was burned at the stake on 6 July 1415.Born: 1369, Husinec, Czechia
He was a strong Influence for the Reformation, Martin Luther and Jerome of Prague,
There was Huldrych Zwingli, Martin Bucer, Heinrich Bullinger,Theodore Beza,
William Farel, John Knox, Andreas Karlstadt and so many more less known but not less influential.
You know what happened if you call God’s work the work of the Devil?

@@daveg7970 Thanks Dave It is always nice to hear from a brother. I sometimes get tears in my eyes if I read and listen to the mockery of those people like Leighton Flower and Kevin Thomson, with their friendly sounding lies.
Matthew 24: 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, IF IT WERE POSSIBLE, they SHALL DECEIVE THE VERY ELECT.
WHY DOES IT SAY IF POSSIBLE? BECAUSE IT IS NOT.
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

Justification is a work of God the Father and the Holy Spirit in us and WITHOUT US. Justification and faith do not have a sequence in time but in order Faith- Justification but are simultaneously in time. Sanctification is a work of The Holy Spirit in us but not WITHOUT US. Justification and SANCTIFICATION cannot be separated. There is no sanctification without justification or justification without sanctification, this even when sanctification is just a begin of regeneration through all our life. Faith is by Grace and the free gift of God. The Bible teaches us the Justification of the UNGODLY. [Made/ declared Righteous] Not a believer or chooser is justified.
James 2: 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works [read FRUITS] is dead? Faith First then Fruits of Faith
There is a general working of the Holy Spirit in the hearing of the Word that convicts and precedes faith but not always leads to salvation. See the parable of the sower.
This Conviction is necessary to become a SINNER and Hell worthy before a righteous God and He is always the First. It was said of old Who works first we know last.
This is how Calvin preached the Gospel
FREE OFFER OF THE GOSPEL (Calvin's Wisdom p119-120)
He calls all men to himself, without a single exception, and gives Christ to all, that we may be illumined by him. When we pray, we ought, according to the rule of charity, to include all. God invites all indiscriminately to salvation through the Gospel, BUT THE INGRATITUDE OF THE WORLD IS THE REASON why this grace, which is equally offered to all, is enjoyed by few.

Other than the result of men’s refusal. Calvin never preached Double predestination as you can see and put the responsibility by men. It is 100% sovereignty and 100% responsibility of men

@chjaka If you don’t like liars than seek out the truth. Arminius was from Oudewater Holland in Oudewater was what you call a “Heksenwaag” translated “Witch Scale” People most women were put on the scale, convicted of witchcraft and burned at the stake. So did Arminius murder people? He never did anything about it. Considering these executions, it is important to note that Calvin never held any formal power outside the Church during his time in Geneva like Arminius did not in Oudewater Holland. The government of the church in Geneva was Presbyterian ¡- it had a pastor and a consistory, or board of ruling elders. Contrary to popular portrayal, the government of the church was not the government of the city. The government of the city was called "the Council". The consistory handled moral matters, and the maximum penalty it could impose was excommunication. However, for many years they could not even excommunicate someone without the prior approval of the Council. The maximum penalty that the Council could impose was death, however, even the Council's decisions could be appealed to another body called "The Council of Two Hundred", so named because it consisted of two hundred citizens of Geneva. Calvin himself was not a citizen of Geneva during the upheaval in Geneva, and thus was disqualified from voting, holding public office, or even serving on the Council of Two Hundred until very late in his life, and at least four years after he achieved "the height of his power" to which so many Calvin detractors refer. Thus, it is with this understanding, the understanding that Calvin held no formal secular power, and that any power he did have was subject to the review of two different citizen's councils that we turn to the discussion of the executions in Geneva.
So the bulk of the executions were for conspiracy to commit murder and for adultery. In addition to these, there was one girl who was executed for striking her mother - another capital crime in the Old Testament which could be, at least in ancient Israel, justly enforced by the penalty of death in certain instances. We need to consider that it was 1500th not 2020. We are not told by history whether Calvin approved of this execution, but if he did, it was because he believed that it was the proper application of Old Testament law. Of the other executions, history has only given us details of two - the beheading of Jacques Gruet and the burning of Michael Servetus. Gruet was executed for heresy and sedition. He attached an anonymous note to Calvin's pulpit threatening to kill Calvin and overthrow the government of Geneva if they did not flee the city. He was arrested, tortured for 30 days, and, upon confession, beheaded. History does not tell us whether Calvin approved of the torture; if he did he was wrong to do so. The execution, for conspiring to overthrow the government, may have been justified given the danger to the citizenry that such a conspiracy entailed. Either way, Calvin did not have the authority in Geneva to arrest, torture, or execute anyone. Those were the decisions, not of Calvin or the church Consistory, but of the Council ONLY and of the Council of 200.

Salvation is a gift, but a gift can either be taken care of or thrown away. The doctrine of eternal salvation sounds good, but it is not what the Bible teaches. We are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. The only way there is eternal salvation is through daily and sincere repentance.

4 But when the goodness and kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared [in human form as the Man, Jesus Christ], 5 He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we have done, but because of His own compassion and mercy, by the cleansing of the new birth (spiritual transformation, regeneration) and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out richly upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior,
    Ephesians 2:8, 9
    - 8 For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation]. 10 For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above-spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].

I was on fire for God for a month and immediately upon repentance even flew back from CA to VA to reconcile to my wife I left for two years (we were in process of divorce), but sadly i have discovered i cant beat lust or intense winter depression and fear “there is no room for repentance” because i cant stop lusting ( i dont mean porn but just even seeing girls in public in general, i lust at every single one i find attractive, even at church), im afraid i will end up leaving again and be a false convert or reprobate . I tell myself “if i married someone i was attracted to then lust would not be an issue” because i had not attraction to her physically when we married.,, i never have or will. Am i really going to hell because i chose a spouse i had no physical desire for and thus no aid in not lusting?! Pray! I fear i am at a cliff spiritually of no return.

Brother, I understand. We have to understand first what Repentance really is. True Repentance is Turning back to God ( Changing your Mind) , you turn 180 degrees back to God. The Repentance in Many Christians is impermanent because they haven't changed their will. I have been living to please myself from now I'm going to live to please Jesus. Repentance is a Decision.

You can be set free. If Christ cannot set you free from lust then the gospel isn’t true. In romans it says “sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under law but under grace.” We must reckon ourselves dead to sin. By faith we believe that we are free from sin even if our experience doesn’t change immediately. Then by standing on the promises we will see chains begin to break in our lives. Sow to the spirit, fast, pray, read the scriptures and your faith in the power of the blood of Jesus will begin to grow and you will see freedom. I tell you this as someone who has personally experienced deliverance from all lust. Things that used to tempt me have absolutely no power anymore. If God freed me he can free you as well. Next time you feel tempted say “ I am free from sin, this has no power over me” and believe it! When you make a mistake say “ I thank you father that the blood of Jesus has taken away from sin and I am free from it”. Stand on the word memorize the promises for deliverance from sin and don’t back down until you’re free.

I agree that e video is for everyone. I think people are in danger of heresies when they stop relying on Christ to teach them in prayer and his word and instead turn to man to explain what the scriptures say. This is what denominations and schools of thought do. Calvanists always try to insult me by calling me an Armenian and Armenians always call me a calvanist. It's sad that men have let themselves be turned away from truth to a intellectual (carnal) pursuit of God. God must be found in the bible and prayer alone. Let God be true and every man a liar. Throw out your calvanist and Armenian books. This is truly trusting in God alone. I would rather stand with God alone than without God.
