    From the first day I heard Su-Metal sing it was an experience like no other. I can't explain why, but her voice reaches right down into my soul. No one else in my 53 years of life has come even close to doing that. A day has not gone by in the last 2 1/2 years where I have not listened to at least one song. Usually it's a LOT more than one song. Yes!! It's an addiction! haha

    No relation at all between anyone. This is a creation of Key Kobayashi is the mastermind, and the group as a whole is owned by Amuse Inc Talent Agency. Babymetal itself was born out of another group named Sakura Gakuin. A developmental Japanese Idol Group (a group Amuse uses to train and promote young female talent between 10-15 years old with interest in Singing, acting, dancing, and Modeling) in which Suzuka Nakamoto (22), Yui Mizuno (20), Moa Kikuchi (20) and 2 of the three Avengers Kano Fujihara (15) and Momoko Okazaki (16) were apart of. (Kano is still a member and current student council president/ leader of Sakura Gakuin.)
    Suzuka graduated (Left the group) from Sakura Gakuin as President in March 2013, Moa graduated as president in March 2015, Yui graduated also in March of 2015. Momoko graduated in March of 2018, and Kano will graduate in March of 2020.
    Yui original member of Babymetal last performance with Babymetal was in October of 2017 due to injury, she would not officially leave the group until October of 2018 due to that injury. Also in January of 2018 one of their lead guitarist Mikio Fujioka saddly died after a fall off an observation deck while star gazing with his family leaving behind a wife and child.
    2018 was a very difficult year for the Babymetal family and compounded the problem due to lack of communications with fans. It was a very frustrating time for the fandom as they would explain nothing about Yui if she was okay (The Yui issue grew into a cult onto itself that is still a minor annoyance).
    Dealt a bad hand Kobayashi tried to salvage 2018 by adding 2 nameless back up dancers with no explanation (what you saw in the Distortion Download video). Later identified as Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. It was an overall mess.
    A series of shows in October 2018 had 5 backup dancers and though a spectacle was very disjointed as Moa disappeared in the crowd. They ended the year returning to the triangle formation of just one backup dancer in the form of Saya Hirai, which brought some stability to the fandom.
    2019 season started in Yokohama with the debut of the Avengers concept, Three randomly rotating dancers that will fill the third slot in the triangle formation. Which they explained, as communication with the fandom returned. Momoko and Kano from Sakura Gakuin and the third, the very talented Riho Sayashi a graduate from the professional idol group Morning Musume, a group with no direct relationship with Sakura Gakuin, or Babymetal's parent company Amuse Inc. However went to the same performance art school called Art School Hiroshima or ASH together, when they were between the ages of 13-15. They were considered friendly rivals.
    That is Babymetal in a nutshell.

    • @autohmae
      @autohmae 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Just a little note: ASH is Actors School Hiroshima, not Art.
      Friendly rivals and Riho was knows as the biggest dancing talent of her time at ASAH and Suzuka as the biggest singing talent at the time.

    This performance of 'No Rain, No Rainbow' is great.
    The Tokyo Dome performance is even better.
    And the Legend S - Baptism XX performance is the best yet.
    Of course that's comparing Su at 16 and at 20 years old.
    BTW, the comparison you need (and don't know about) is X-Japan.
    Especially the songs 'Silent Jealousy' and 'Endless Rain'.
    Suzuka isn't related to anyone in the band, although her father was in a rock group called the Hooligans before she was born.
    And her middle sister Himeka is a former member of the Idol group Nogizaka46.

    • @autohmae
      @autohmae 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think for those that don't know X-Japan, Guns N Roses "November Rain" might help them understand.
      Some people on the Internet thought, maybe "November Rain" was inspired by "Endless Rain".
      A compilation video on bilibili exists which includes "Purple Rain" from Prince.
      "Purple Rain" existed first.

    I don't know how many dozens of times I have listened to this song, and it still brings tears to my eyes every single time. It's so good, and Su delivers it so perfectly. Her eyes after that last note are incredible. On another note, I don't think I have ever heard any other band with dual guitar harmonies sounding so perfect live.

    The girls started when young in BABYMETAL (13 and 11) - 2020 is the 10th anniversary for the group. Sumetal is now 22 and Moa is 20. Early on partly due to the physical demands of their concerts they would often split. Sumetal would do solos while Yui/Moa had a break then Yui/Moa would perform (known as BLACK BABYMETAL) while Su had a break. Recently the girls being older (and Yui having left in 2017 due to ill health) they have not done any solos.

    As a simple note of little info, the name of the hall is the "Nippon Budokan" or "Nihon Budokan" and the original purpose of this building was to... i´m not sure about the word (english isn´t my 1st language) to be the place to celebrate in the Olympic games of 1964 the competition of Judo and Karate, the ist group to use this place as a concert venue was no less than the Beatles in 1966. Artists like Led Zeppelin or Eric Clapton to concerts in this place. Anyway is a popular place for concerts because have a very access in Tokyo. The Budokan is so "centric" that is literally inside of part of the walls of the Imperial Palace (in a public part where is also a popular garden among other facilities. It´s inside a beautiful place, to access you must cross a bridge over a water trench who encircle the grounds of the imperial palace and cross a very big wood gates in a great wall of stone to enter this place, the Budokan is one of the buildings inside.
    Is also interesting to compare this version of the song with the one of Tokyo Dome and the version of Hiroshima (among the ones to easy access in youtube) because you can feel who the voice of Suzuka changes over the years and gets more deeper and with more control. No much songs let her use her voice like this one. The change is inevitable, she was about 16 in the Budokan, about 17 in the Tokyo Dome and 19 in Hiroshima so some changes are normal (near 20 years, the concert was less than a month before her birthday)

  • @paulbenwell3560
    @paulbenwell3560 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is a very emotional power ballard. She was just 16 year old here! If you thought this was good watch the version from Baptism XX, Legend S show. She was turning 20 for that show - that version was literally her special birthday show in front of her home town of Hiroshima. She felt more mature for that version and it is an amaziingly powerful version. This song is VERY rarely sung live (only a few times ever).

    BABYMETAL as you have noticed just have this huge diverse rang of songs. No song is ever the same as another. Also no Sumetal is not related to either Yuimetal or Moametal nor any of the band. (The Kami band are in fact a group of exceptionally talented session muscians that get pulled in for their concerts. Though usually the same small group).

  • @Wombatmetal
    @Wombatmetal 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    To think Su wasn't pleased with her performance of this song here; she did not in her opinion project the emotion under the well enough. After this performance they retired No Rain No Rainbow from performance for a couple of years, and it was not on their first album; it did make the second.
    Su is not related to a band member. Her dad played bass for the rock band the Hooligans for a decade, and perhaps because of that he is good friends of Hrionobu Kageyama, a founding member of the super group The JAM Project. Kageyama refers to Su-metal as feeling like his daughter in interviews, and she has performed by herself with the JAM project in the guise of Su-metal, which was unusual.
    Babymetal also appeared with the JAM Project once in a Rock Beats Cancer show.
    Hideki Aoyama is often the drummer of the JAM project. Hideki is not the original drummer of Babymetal though, nor the only one.
    Kageyama is huge in the industry though. The JAM project is a super group of artists who have hits singing anime songs. If your looking for connections, he would be the one but it is speculation at best.

    Babymetal was a manufactured band. The only real relationships are Yui and Moa's friendship since they were around 6 and the fact that they and Su went to the same school. The girls ARE Babymetal. The band was made around Su's voice. The Kami Band was actually brought in a few years later to back up the girls. Until that time they just used session bands.

    • @LouieGrandie
      @LouieGrandie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      while many say that the group is "manufactured" in reality they are not much different than many US bands where the members knew each other for years and got together to form a band. Yui and Moa and Su developed a strong bond in school since the age of 6. See Su's graduation ceremony on how strong the bond is.
