I don't really care what the politics are but Stephan made a huge career mistake dismissing Kevin. I worked in the record industry for many many years and I'm convinced this band would have had much greater success had that original lineup remained intact. Stephan had one of the ingredients and Kevin had the other with the other guys filling in the gaps for sure. Without Kevin in particular, this band will never be as great as it could have been.

I felt the same about that beautiful little guitar lick by Cadocan in Jumper at 17:12 then Stephen taps him off at 17:36 with a "that's enough, asshole"
I remember in the 1990’s when Stephan was complaining about Kevin’s choice of guitars and I wondered what the F was his problem. His choice of guitars literally shaped the sound of 3eb that we love. What a nutcase.
I think Jenkins was jealous of the attention Cadigan was getting and that Cadigan wrote a lot of their best songs. Jenkins was quite histronic i believe. Also, what didn't Jenkins like about Cadigan's guitars? What kind were they?
This was one of the first concerts I ever attended, less than a month after turning 16. I can't believe it was filmed and surfaced on youtube some 20 years later! It took me another year to realize just how good their first album was, but to this day I still rank it as one of the best rock albums ever, and certainly in my top 5 favorites. @@billybutcher4995is definitely wrong, my friend. Tony can really solo and shred. I assume that his really out of place tunings made that magic. You can't solo in that kind of weird open tunings. Jenkins is obviously a good songwriter and lyricist, but dear god is Kevin Cadogan an absolute genius. When he was ousted, the heart of this band was ripped out. Also, a nod to Arion as well as the combination of him and Cadogan is simply electric.

Yes! Finally someone says what I’ve thought all these years. Cadogan had the magic, he was the soul that drove the emotions of those songs. Without him the songs have felt like knockoffs with different guitarists. His sounds were were a voice of their own and you couldn’t just replicate that voice by following sheet music. They were so great with Kevin Cadogan. I still don't know why he was fired. They were so much better with him. Maybe the tension between him and Stephen was a good thing if there was tension at all. They lost some chemistry since he has been gone.
Kevin thought ownership would be split in two, long story short it wasn't. Stephen went behind his back and now owns all of the music/band. Sad really, but kevin sued; got a settlement. Dont blame him he wrote alot of the music....
SJ was cool with it until they exploded. It happens all the time. Unfortunately there are more Kevin's than Stephan's in the industry. SJ had the spark of genius that created the songs but his personality unfortunately sucks.
@@kzeich Reminds me a little bit of the dynamic in Oasis. Liam and Noel are way better as a team than they are apart. Noel doesn’t have the frontman prowess or voice that Liam has (or at least had in his prime), and Liam can’t write songs anywhere near the level that Noel can. SJ may be a gifted songwriter, but that’s clearly not enough given that he stopped writing hits after Blue was released. His songwriting served as an excellent foundation but Kevin brought the songs to life
Summer time and the wind is blowing outside In lower Chelsea and I don't know What I'm doing in this city The sun is always in my eyes It crashes through the windows And I'm sleeping on the couch When I came to visit you That's when I knew I could never have you I knew that before you did Still I'm the one who's stupid And there's this burning Like there's always been I've never been so alone And I've never been so alive Visions of you on a motorcycle drive by The cigarette ash flies in your eyes And you don't mind, you smile And say the world it doesn't fit with you I don't believe you, you're so serene Careening through the universe Your axis on a tilt, you're guiltless and free I hope you take a piece of me with you And there's things I would like to do That you don't believe in I would like to build something But you never see it happen And there's this burning Like there's always been I've never been so alone And I've, I've never been so alive And there's this burning There was this burning Where's the soul I want to know New York City is evil The surface is everything but I could never do that Someone would see through that And this is our last time We'll be friends again I'll get over you, you'll wonder who I am And there's this burning Just like there's always been I've never been so alone, alone And I, and I've, I've never been so alive, so alive I go home to the coast It starts to rain I paddle out on the water alone Taste the salt and taste the pain I'm not thinking of you again Summer dies and swells rise The sun goes down in my eyes See this rolling wave Darkly coming to take me home And I've never been so alone And I've never been so alive

This is so fucking good, I remember those days. Had a bootleg VHS of one of the shows from around this time, wore that thing out. This band ain't shit without Kevin.
Yup, Kevin and Salazar, the bass player. Stephen said he kicked out Salazar because he was crazy, but that's no reason to kick someone out of a band. Jesus!!

His songwriting served as an excellent foundation but Kevin brought the songs to life
is cadogan rocking a duster?
Indeed he was. Happened more than once. And I believe in A Blue era video, possibly Never Let You Go, he's borderline ready for the Matrix, lol
@@the_vespertine7195 hahah i always think of its always sunny when it comes to dusters. such a classic piece of attire
Summer time and the wind is blowing outside
In lower Chelsea and I don't know
What I'm doing in this city
The sun is always in my eyes
It crashes through the windows
And I'm sleeping on the couch
When I came to visit you
That's when I knew I could never have you
I knew that before you did
Still I'm the one who's stupid
And there's this burning
Like there's always been
I've never been so alone
And I've never been so alive
Visions of you on a motorcycle drive by
The cigarette ash flies in your eyes
And you don't mind, you smile
And say the world it doesn't fit with you
I don't believe you, you're so serene
Careening through the universe
Your axis on a tilt, you're guiltless and free
I hope you take a piece of me with you
And there's things I would like to do
That you don't believe in
I would like to build something
But you never see it happen
And there's this burning
Like there's always been
I've never been so alone
And I've, I've never been so alive
And there's this burning
There was this burning
Where's the soul I want to know
New York City is evil
The surface is everything but I could never do that
Someone would see through that
And this is our last time
We'll be friends again
I'll get over you, you'll wonder who I am
And there's this burning
Just like there's always been
I've never been so alone, alone
And I, and I've, I've never been so alive, so alive
I go home to the coast
It starts to rain I paddle out on the water alone
Taste the salt and taste the pain
I'm not thinking of you again
Summer dies and swells rise
The sun goes down in my eyes
See this rolling wave
Darkly coming to take me home
And I've never been so alone
And I've never been so alive
I really really really miss these guys!! Shit
❤❤❤❤❤

Absolute. Fucking. Magic.
17:34 they seemed like pretty close friends
Until money got in the way 💰
the viva la vida of 1998!
This was the 3EB lineup! So good, until Jenkins got greedy
Awesome....sadly the electric factory is no more, now called franklin center or some bs like that....
These guys have as much talent as the Chili Peppers with Frusciante. Maybe more. It’s a shame they couldn’t stay stay together for more than one album.
yesnoyesnookay they did for 2
@@Daneiladams555 One and a half. They ditched Kevin before the tour for Blue.
Kevin in third eye blind is like the frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Brilliant songwriter and great musician.
Jesus!!
Dude I wish they still sounded like this and played the same shit
Same here
Scooby Doo on Zombie Island made me a fan of this band Stephen Jenkin's voice is timeless every time I hear him sing I think about that movie
Who tf thumbs down this? Smh....
AVMS thank you for posting!!! Do you have night 2? Kevin's in an Orange t-shirt that night? I have a ton of stills of these gigs, super rad shows! Also Eve 6 and Our Lady Peace opened!
