      Ride1up 500. Unfortunately discontinued but they have the Ride1up 700 now. And the iGO brand is similar!

    As someone who's ridden the bus for years, what you don't do, is put a heavy expensive ebike on the front of a city bus, where it's prone to being scratched or damaged not only the rack itself, but another person using the second rack, as well as the potential for the bus to be in an accident and the bike being destroyed. Also you risk the bike being stolen straight off the front of the bus while it's stopped, and the bus driver just kind of sits there and is like "Oh hey dude your bikes being stolen" because they don't give a shit and the transportation isnt reslonsible for your property. Secondly you don't use a HEAVY expensive ebike especially if you have multiple busses to ride because your going to be struggling taking that bike on and off that rack 10 times a day 5 days a week.
    What you do do, is buy a cheap commuter 700c fixie bike that only weighs 20 pounds, is durable as hell, your not afraid of it getting damaged and if it gets stolen its kind of like, "shit that sucks", but your not freaking out for the next 3 months because your 2000$ bike got stolen off the public bus and your helpless to do anything because nobody really gives a shit about your bike.
    Depending on the city your not going to have time to react to your bike getting stolen because the bus is full and your going to piss some people off bumping into them trying to get off the bus to run after the guy. And trust me you'll stop locking that rear tire after a few days because your going to get sick of locking and unlocking it every time.
    Take my word from experience.
    Don't be like this guy and put a 2000$ Ebike on the front of a city bus, it's gonna sucks.

      I'm sorry you had a bad experience. It was our goal to just show people how the racks are used. We showed some safety strategies for bikes, but of course nothing is zero risk. Not everyone will be a multi-bus-per-day commuter, but for those that are, I agree with you that a cheap, light bike could be of use. For some, this opens up an option where there may not have been one before, be it every day or just in a pinch, to get your bike to your destination when you can't or prefer not to ride.

    what happends if the rack is full? also what ebikes do you think is cost effective and afforable?

    • @heinminthu-gn6lx
      @heinminthu-gn6lx ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The rule is first come first serve, if the rack is full, you have to wait for next bus.

    • @BenDurham
      @BenDurham ปีที่แล้ว

      @@heinminthu-gn6lxyep, that. Only happens occasionally though!

    • @BenDurham

      Honestyl Ride1Up and iGO ebikes are pretty affordable.
      Edit: my ebike (in the video) is the ride1up 500.

      I know, only 2 bikes? City buses i drove (including articulate) carried up to 5 and ebikes were the worst as they barely fit or not at all.

    Do yuo have to pay for the bus ride before using the rack

    • @londoncyclelink
      @londoncyclelink  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We didn't have to. This may vary in different cities though.

    • @BenDurham
      @BenDurham ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, typically you're going to put your bike on and then go into the bus to pay for your ticket and ride.

    Are e bikes ok anyone know ?

    • @londoncyclelink
      @londoncyclelink  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In London, Ontario, they're not. We removed the battery on this e-bike before we put it on the bus. That may or may not change whether it's officially allowed, depending on the reasoning behind not wanting e-bikes on the bus (could be the weight, the circuitry, or the loss-related liability).

    I’ve never seen a bike onfront of a bus . Seems a big effort and inconvenience to everyone tbh

    • @briannap6733
      @briannap6733 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Really? I see them used at a fairly moderate frequency and only takes a couple extra seconds. I’ve never used it personally, but have seen many many people use them :)

    As someone who use to drive buses doing the tightest turns humanly possible with barely a foot in frobt of me this would drive me nuts. But this is good to know.

    Only 2 racks?

    • @londoncyclelink
      @londoncyclelink  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yep, it would be a bit of a challenge to have more than that on the front of a bus.

    • @BenDurham
      @BenDurham ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Having one with 4 racks on the gront of yhe bus would be kinda hard to use haha
