I'm also low maintenance, dye my own hair but use the whole bottle. Not anymore, going to use half instead. Thanks for the tip Jane. 😄

I've been enjoying making some handmade greeting cards using recycled bits and pieces. I find it so relaxing. My nails could definitely do with some attention though too! So maybe tomorrow I will make time for that ;). Greetings from an English expat in Nashville, Tennessee!

I had to stop the video at one minute in to make this comment: that was the BEST start to any video I have ever seen on TH-cam. Seeing your dog being lovable and sweet and being pet…just lovely. Ok. Thanks again for that. Now I will watch the remainder of the video…

I would put myself into the low maintenance category. Many years ago I would go regularly to the nail salon, get waxes and massages…but in the end, my natural nails would get ruined and look hideous by the gel nails (as you shared), I got ingrown hairs from so much waxing and the massages only lasted while I was on the massage table. So now, I do my own nails at home (basic filing and usually clear polish - I am no prize nail painter, either!!), I no longer wax anything and it’s all just fine, and to replace massages - I move my body daily and as much as possible, I get outdoors to take in the sun and nature and I take hot, relaxing baths about once a week or so. Thanks for this fun video. Loved seeing your pets!

You’re right about a hot, deep bath. As good as your average massage, along with a bit of a stretch

Ive started wearing rubber gloves ( like you, always had soft brilliant nails and autoimmune disease).. the difference in incredible...really saves your nails. I dont over pluck, as ws get older, less growth with hypothyroidism...and already split the hair dye bottle...cheap as chips..❤❤

I really should wear gloves. I do sometimes, then they break and I don't get around to buying more.

Great video. Your hair looks lovely Jane. I dye my own hair. Poundland dye and people often say what a lovely hair colour I have, which makes me smile as I do it myself. Cut my hair for first time last week and had compliments. So will continue to do my own hair. I copied from the video of frugal Viv. I have a tip put a little castor oil on your hair rub in and massage, leave for couple hours then wash hair. Your hair will be lovely and soft and looks so healthy. I do yoga every morning apart from Sunday. So many things you can do for self care which does not cost a fortune. Loved Archie having a rest in bed with you and then joining you in yoga. Beautiful happy dog.

I was well plucked in the 1960's so have to draw eyebrows in these days. When i was little my big sis used to send me to the chemist for the powder that you mixed with peroxide (and the peroxide) 20 cigs and a bottle of 'tizer'.... No elf and safety back then.

I'm also low maintenance. I stopped colouring my hair over 10 years ago and I'm all grey now! I only use moisturiser on my face, don't wear makeup, and can't stand nail varnish on my nails. It makes me feel like I'm carrying a heavy weight on them. I get my hair cut every couple of months or so. I don't feel the need to use any of the products that others use, so I save money that way! 😅 Each to their own!

    • @ShoestringJane

I'm so pale, but I feel better with a bit of makeup on. A decent moisturiser is a must I think, or my skin gets super dry.

When I was younger the amount of products I would buy, get waxed, pampers etc
Now I’m a mum and wife I do things myself. Face masks, paint my own nails.
I do treat myself to have my hair done again as
I work and it’s nice to have a pamper and treat when I need it Donets
I love your video I’m to scared to dye my hair as I have done so before it was a disaster x 😂

Dye my own hair too but so tempted to just let it go. I think once I’m completely white I’ll give up but not just yet! Also do my own manicures and such. Face and hair mask with a long bath is enough for me. And I don’t wear nail polish, exactly as you said, my hands are not as they were when younger and I do not want to attract attention to them! 😂 Thank you for the video x

I remember you included this in your budget. I’m almost at the point where my mirror isn’t good enough so might go back to waxing at some point. Or just let my eyebrows do their own thing 😂😂

That sounds like me. I caught an eye infection at the beginning of December, 2023, which seemed to turn into an ongoing skin infection as well. It’s coming up to the end of January and the skin infection is still there but slowly going away, only because I’ve been massaging in cocoa butter everyday which seems to help with the itch. A doctor I went to said he thinks it was a viral infection that just had to run its course!

I have been touching up my roots for quite awhile, since I found out it cost almost as much for a touch up at the salon as it did for the whole treatment.
Scheduled a cut and lowlights with eyebrow color ( so many greys now) for next month. It's been almost 9 months and I have the money saved for it.
    S
Archie looked so sweet first thing in the morning. Hope Justin is feeling better.
