Actually, if this is 1955, this was during a low stretch in their collaboration with the relative flops Me and Juliet (1953), and Pipe Dream (1955). The Sound of Music came onto Broadway to great success in November of 1959. Very sadly, Oscar died of stomach cancer in August, 1960. The final song he wrote lyrics for was "Edelweiss".

the original cast of 'Flower Drum Song' were actually on Ed Sullivan too.
No wonder Stephen Sondheim idolized him. A kind, brilliant man whose contribution to the American musical theatre is immeasurable. 🎭
