To be fair, most artists such as himself who are fairly quiet and to themselves always play the eccentric characters because they are curious and almost always love BEING their polar opposite selves. Sam Reid, Johnny Depp, Mark Rylance, Tom Hardy, etc etc.

I love “Matt Berry the actor”… I have never seen him just being himself… not being “on” before. I love him even more. And… it’s interesting to see someone’s musical tastes.
There's a really good, at home, interview with him talking about his home studio. He was comfortable. Apparently, hes not always comfortable to do interviews. Matt Berry is an introvert. Such a contrast to the characters he's known for.

What country was this filmed in? I didn't recognize the flag they had up. It had a lot of colors and like a triangle on the left side. I thought this guy was from england, but that's not an English flag.

I cannot hear him speak now without hearing in my head " my darling lady-wife " in that incredibly nuanced way he does it. It kind of warbles, reverberates then rolls off his tongue. What a gift to be able to transport the audience with just your voice, speaking. He's amazing.

Matt Berry is super underrated. He's been in so many pivotal comedies throughout his career. Dig that he's so into music!

Hot Rats was my first introduction to Zappa when I was 17 (that was 1991) and I've been hooked ever since!
He is absolutely hilarious! His IT Crowd character is in my top 5 tv characters.
And yet it was a massive step down in brilliance from Chris Morris's character

@@drssexy2142 Respectfully agree to disagree on that. I feel like Matt Berry's introduction really helped elevate the IT Crowd. Chris Morris was much better in his other stuff like Brass Eye, Jam, The Day Today. Chris always felt a bit out of place in the IT crowd's early shows.
I saw Matt berry on tour in 2000 and something and it was incredible, they did a cover of the Sorry theme tune and it was so god damn enjoyable.
Didn't know much about Berry before seeing him in Community a few years back, and doing the Leo pointing meme. Familiarizing myself with his work has been an immense pleasure.
I’ve been listening to Hot Rats since the early 70s and still think it’s an amazing experience (and Don Van Vliet, aka Captain Beefheart) singing Willie the Pimp is the icing on the cake.

Have to really appreciate someone who buys a record and admits they have no idea what it's going to sound like but that's what's interesting. If more people would only do that today, just think of how many more artists would be discovered, their music heard. I think that's great.
