    We’re planning on scattering some poppy seeds in the ground this week. Glad we saw this because we would have tried to bury the seeds!

    Perfect timing - getting ready to sow poppy seeds in pots - tried sowing in ground last year but not successful. Thx!

    In this RV park I've been collectiing a LOT of soil from the surrounding forest for my grow bags. It looks nice and dark and crumbly, I hope it works.

    Love your videos . Would it be easier if I dampened the soil first? I'm afraid I will wash the seeds away, I will try it with a watering can maybe that will work better. I am in Zone 6 Missouri. Thanks Brie for all your videos.

    Hi Brie, how about setting the soil before scattering so as not to dislodge them? Thanks

    I just sowed some Black Barley and poppies in a couple pots. Hoping they turn out good. I don’t seem to have good luck with poppies in the ground. Last time I got a few to grow but they were tiny like the size of a quarter! I have terrific luck with larkspur though. This year I don’t even need to sow them where they normally grow. They already self sowed!

      @@violettevbunni9508 The barley grows great in pots! I did it this year too. Super easy! Nice pop of bright green in the cold. Poppies were ok in the pot. So far I am having success with seeds that I got from Brie this year. We’ll see how they progress. They’re in the ground. Still haven’t given up! I have found CA poppies work for me. Thanks for asking!

      @@violettevbunni9508 No problem! I have only tried in ground, but they might do well in pots too. Some of mine overwintered in ground. Should look pretty this Spring! Need more!

    Can I successfully sew poppy seeds in late spring in Upstate NY if I kept them in the refrigerator at near freezing temperature all winter? I missed the early spring planting season

    This year was my first time trying to grow breadseed poppy, I planted them in a pot and before they germinated a squirrel dug around in my pot and once they germinated they all sprouted around clustered around the rim of the pot🤦🏻‍♂️ should I just let them do their thing or take it as a loss because they seem super crowded

    • @BrieThePlantLady
      @BrieThePlantLady  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Leave them alone and I bet you’ll get a few blooms! Squirrels are jerks. I recommend putting chicken wire over the top of the pot so they can’t dig. Leave until the seedlings are large.

    I'm too old to use a tiller and potted plants are fun to do anyway and get a little exercise to boot

    Hi Brie! First of all, thanks again for such an enjoyable vlog as well as very educational. I bought this bag of variety mix of seeds, including poppy seeds. The name of the company Is Rocky Mountain Valley mixed seeds. Since there are 17 types of flowering seeds, which has different length of germination. My predicament is when is the right time for me to sow these seeds?
    I need your advice. Thanks again!

    • @BrieThePlantLady
      @BrieThePlantLady  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TeAh these seed mixes kind of set oriole up to fail because the mix isn’t seasonally appropriate. I’d sow now and maybe half will germinate.

      I’m out of town now and won’t be home much this week. This is why I start selling seed at the fall pond garden and at in person events all fall. It’s difficult to accommodate random stop offs for Seed sales.

    So even when growing poppies in pots she doesn’t thin seedlings? I guess a lot more poppies can fit than I thought…
