  • YORKSHIRE DALES WALK FEATURING REETH, GRINTON AND REETH SWING BRIDGE
    "Relaxed in Reeth”
    Filmed 28th March 2017
    Post-production completed 12th May 2017
    *Contains some swearing*
There is something about Reeth in Swaledale that makes me feel completely comfortable and relaxed. It may be down to the beauty of the village, its setting, its amenities, or perhaps just the friendliness of the local people. I always feel the same way whenever I visit this part of the Yorkshire Dales, so today I enjoy a walk around the wonderful village and part of the two lovely dales between which it is positioned. During my day I recall an amusing and rather humiliating time I had in Reeth some years previously, which my friends never allow me to forget…..
Filmed in the Yorkshire Dales in the county of North Yorkshire. Locations include Reeth, Grinton and Reeth Swing Bridge.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

My husband and I have visited Reeth hundreds of times as we live nearby in Richmond and we know exactly what you mean when you say you can’t describe what is so special about it, but special and wonderful it is and I’m so glad you have enjoyed it whenever you visit. We love your films, thank you for making them.

I think Reeth is a very special place indeed. I've not been back since filming this in 2017, but I've always loved it there. Thank you for taking the time to watch and for all your kind comments. All the best 👍

Looks absolutely beautiful. After watching your wonderful walks around Reeth I’ve just booked a 3 night stay mid September for my myself and my wife. Really looking forward to it. Thank you for sharing the delights of Swaledale.

Amazing place, nice people and nice atmosphere... I worked in the Buck Hotel couple years ago and had nice time. Summer was nice and the cold winter was treated with chimneys and Ales.

I'v never been to Reeth nor even heard of it,but it looks lovely,so peaceful with three really old pubs, how great to have stopped in one of them.
I always wait till the credits at the end finish so that I can hear the music a little longer than it's often played in the segments, really enjoyed it,the whole film was really good, will definately have to pay a visit here some time.
    Thanks Patrick.
    Pete.

Reeth really is a wonderful village, and although I was pleased with my film, I was a little disappointed that it was misty. Anyway it was lovely filming here all the same. Thanks again Pete for watching and for all your kind comments. Cheers, Patrick :)

Hi, Patrick. This brought back very happy memories of my first holiday on my own, way back in the early 1970s. I had spent a couple of nights at Grinton Lodge Youth Hostel, and had continued my walk through Reeth after leaving Grinton. You'll turn into a Yorkshireman yet!

I first discovered Reeth nearly 30 years ago, when I walked the 192 mile Coast to Coast route from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay. It certainly left it's mark on me and I love to go back to Reeth as often as I can. Another lovely film Patrick. I'm enjoying catching up every one that you've done, right from the beginning!

I have no idea why I have never visited Reeth especially as it is so close to where my sister lives (Scorton near Richmond) so when we are allowed to visit, it would make sense to check Reeth out; your video makes the place look like somewhere we would really enjoy. Great work Patrick, thanks.

Thank you once again or introducing me to another place i ve never heard of , Shame about the mist because i bet its simply breath taking when you can see all the hills , interesting to see a couple of new camera angles with the front facing shots and the lower facing approachs Patrick ..
Made me smille at your toilet tripping episode , and i was very taken with the reeth swing bridge , there is a similar bridge that crosses the river ribble near a spot called hurst green in lancashire....Thank you once again Patrick for yet another really nice walk , regards as always Frank and Lee ....

    • @solitaryrambler
      @solitaryrambler  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It was a bit of a shame about the mist, but for me it didn't ruin the look of the video. In many ways it added atmosphere and was nice for it not to be sunny like in so many of my other films. Glad you spotted the new camera angles, more of those to come I think. Reeth is often mentioned when I have a beer with my mates, and still we all laugh about the toilet saga even after all this time. One of those stunts I couldn't do again if I tried! :-) Thanks again for watching Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :-)

During a fantastic camping weekend near Leyburn, (23rd to26th Sept 2021) Me and my Mrs visited Reeth, which is why I watched this fab video again! I have to say, what a stunning village it is. The situation, elevated, with those views...Wow. It was overcast when we visited but there were plenty of tourists, all in good spirits simply enjoying the astonishing surroundings and best of all the price of food and drinks were so reasonable, we loved it. Very sad to see though that the pub you stayed in was shut (looked after by some security company) whilst the others seemed to be doing great trade. Loved Reeth though.

Glad you enjoyed staying in this area Jeff, as you know it's pretty awesome. Sorry to hear the Buck was closed. It was rather "tired" when I stayed there in 2017 during the filming of this, so did need a bit of TLC. I think Reeth is fantastic, glad to hear you liked it.

I haven't been to the Forest for trips for a long time now (excluding 2018 when I made all those films there as I don''t really count that as trips) as i live so far away now. Thanks for watching and hope you have a great Easter weekend too 👍
