I did my living room and another room 4 years ago, is there a place I can send you pictures. The first room was to look like leather on the floor and the living room is stone looking.

Hi Pat fm Florida, I just finished my brown paper bag floor. I had a slight white haze in several areas. Did you experience this. Any suggestions? It was completed 24 hours ago. Have you ever made a repair after you put down clearcoat? I actually used a water base poly by Minwax. Hope you have some ideas to get rid of the white haze. Thanks so much for the video. I do love my paper floor. It was a great project during this covid time. : )

Okay, when you say white haze, are you talking about seeing it during the drying process? If so, yes this is normal, and it should dry clear, it must have been an area that got more of the mixture than other areas and is just taking longer to dry. And if so, if you went ahead and clear coated, then I'm not sure if that will change. However, you may get lucky, and it could continue drying through the Minwax. Let's hope. 🤞 If not, to answer your question, Yes, I did have one small spot that I had to repair due to damage by our puppy. And you simply remove the bad spot and just patch right over the area. Or if it's in an out-of-the-way area, you can actually just patch over it, and seal again. That's one of the perks of this flooring. 😊 Both will work, and only depend on what you're comfortable with. I hope this helps, Pat, and good luck! Please let me know if you need any further help, I'm happy to answer whatever I can.

I noticed a few images at the end of the Part 1 video where there is a bit of white haze color to the paper as it was beginning to dry, is that kind of what you were referring to? If so, that is just the mixture drying and will disappear. I'm just not sure if it will after it has been sealed. I'd give it a few days and just keep an eye on it. I would think it should and will keep my fingers crossed for you that it will.

Thank you so much. The white haze appeared after my third coat of poly. I waited another 12 hours and most disappeared but not all. I started looking online for suggestions and one site advised using either mayo or vasoline (since both will suck out moisture). I chose mayo (I love mayo). I applied a very thin coat of mayo to the remaining haze and checked back after about 8 hours and it was gone. However, in full disclosure, a bit of mayo crept under one of the wrinkles and I now have two small (dime size) irregular circles on the flooring. Oh well, nothing in life is perfect - how boring would that be. I loved your video.. BTW, your floor looks great. : )

@@pennysnow6162 Oh Pat! I'm so glad to hear that. And how interesting! Mayo, of all things. I will definately keep that in mind if I ever hear of someone else having the same issue. Thank you so much for letting me know how it went, and I'm so glad you're happy with your floors, and enjoyed my videos. Don't be camera shy, you're beautiful. Did a great job on the floor, I am considering doing this to my kitchen and dining area which are not overly large. (widow living alone) Thanks for all the instruction, you made everything quite clear.

@graceshepstone2465 * I realize you may have already tackled your floors but if not here's a tidbit I learned the hard way. If you want the different brown tones feel free to disregard. The construction paper usually reacts differently to moisture. Do a test patch before you start tearing paper from the role and select your preference. I usually preferred the inside of the roll so I used a pencil and made a 6-7" line on the outside of each piece as I tore it from the roll. You can also add stain before any clear coat is applied or tint the clear coat. I have also stenciled designs on floors, just random and 3z4' apart...in the 1980s I had several rental properties and finally decided to sell them. I did the paper bag treatment throughout a small house and applied 2 coats of white-wash stain prior to any topcoat. It made the small rooms appear larger, lighter and brighter. It sold the first day on the market. Good luck with your project!
