First ever scary game? Man I gotta give that to Devil May Cry 3! To this day, I remember seeing my mom play on the PlayStation and let me tell you I was always a mixture of scared and intrigued. The idea of demons and monsters fascinated me and still does, I loved watching my mom play and like the little blasian baby I was, best believe I begged her to play just so I could watch!
In 1998 gaming was seen as more of a child’s play thing or a niche nerdy thing. However, Resident Evil 2 was one of the few exceptions that got adults talking about it and even got the “cool kids” to play games too. Games like this kinda helped change the face of gaming in general. Previous Gen was all cute and kid-friendly characters like Sonic, Mario, Kirby etc. PS1 had Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and even the Wipeout games had very popular music that was played on dance floors all across the world (outside the US anyway)
I started playing Resident Evil raccoon city and I realized that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City takes place at the same time as Resident Evil 2, in fact the stories even intermingle

Resident Evil was actually my first scary game too. I had a PS2. I was there for the CCTV angles and the pointy boobs. And those creepy alleyways got me as a kid. Thing is, my dad didn’t have a memory card so you either played all day or gave up and started over the next day. Worst times be the best times.
I watched this all the way back when it came out and always wanted to play this. Just beat it today and am excited to play the rest of the series. Thank you for introducing me to this awesome series of games Cory
