Back in the day, we didn't care for these as far as looks. We called them Pregnant Elephants. But now, compared to all the Japanoid tin cans, they look magnificent.
I have grown to like these , but I always liked the 53,54,55 +& 56 better. A neighbor down street had bought a one owner 49 Packard factory limo, low Miles , that was when I started noticing these. In 1950, my Aunt bought a Lincoln Cosmopolitan over one of these though.
My Grandma car, he said he had to sell it in 1955 because Packard was going broke, he changed to a Studebaker . The same year. He called the Studebaker his bug . He bought a Studebaker 55 President! , beautiful car.
These cars are all master piece’s in construction and design!
You guys HAVE the patience and knowledge!
Just purchased a 1950 Custom 8 Turning Sedan 4 days ago and love it.
You have the top-of-the-line Packard. A superbly luxurious car with plenty of power as well.
This was one of my grandfathers cars and the year I was born. How awesome to own this

If only Packard had not kept a cut-rate model after the war they would have done much better.
@@michaelbenardo5695 would have been better off if they had never bought Studebaker

Chevy wasn't the only one with a 327 engine! This Packard's engine is a 327 Packard style, and the 57 - 66 Nash and Rambler also had a 327 engine.
It’s a tank !
What a beauty....when cars were fistinctive!
When I was a kid, not long after this rolled off the line, I called it a "Potato Bug" because it looked like one. :)
People called it the Pregnant Elephant!
