Norways biggest problem is defensively. We have players but our manager have no clue about how to use them. A proper manager will give the team headache for most countries. People are talking about Solskjær taking over for Solbakken, he have a HUGE star in Norwegian football and will be a good choice. With players like Haaland, Ødegaaard, Nusa, Oscar Bobb, Sørloth, Sander Berge and Ajer it is a mystery how we did not qualify for the European championship.
Well you say that Norway’s problem is defensively. I don’t think there’s one game apart from the game in Austria where Norway got dominated and conceded loads of goals. Defensively isn’t the problem, the problem is when Haaland and Ødegaard are both on the pitch, they get all the attention. I know Norway haven’t qualified to any big tournaments, and there’s been lots of nightmares where the defense have SLIPPED for example against Scotland. However, remember they just lost 0-1 to the current champions of Europe. Of course the star players of Norway are in attack, but I think the problem is intensity and a faster type of playing to create unbalance in other teams. Just my opinion tho.
@@YourFootballGuy The problem with our defense is that none of the assumed best center halfs were guaranteed first team football in their respective clubs. But Østigård is seeing more game time in Rennes than he ever did with Napoli, Ajer's been on and off in Brentford with injuries etc, they usually entered the national breaks without much game time conditioning under their belts. The slip versus Scotland is a prime example, Østigård didn't have legs left by the end of that game as he couldn't last a full 90 minutes. Fingers crossed that's starting to change now though, and that the selections reflect players actually getting minutes every weekend🤞
@@YTDSS Yeah I agree, but this Nations League we didn’t see a slip. Is it because of our defense or our team playing better together? I root for the last one, although I know our defense apart from Ryerson has had a problem when it comes to game time.
@@YourFootballGuy I'm Norwegian and have followed them all my life. I KNOW that we have been terrible in defence for many many years, we haven't had a proper chief since Brede Hangeland who ended his career iin 2016. Not to mention that we have had a big hole in the keeper position for years, because they haven't played for their clubs. Nyland are much better now because he are in a team where he are playing every week. Haaland, Ødegaard and the attacking stars aint the problem, like every other team they must have trust in the players behind them. Ødegaard have to backtrack to cover for the dross that cannot defend, he cannot use his offensive qualities like he should.
I've been more than happy with our forwards for a long time now, but it doesn't matter. We're shambolic defensively, our midfield has never quite managed to look cohesive and consistent, and I have 0 faith in Staale Solbakken as our NT manager. Ever since he decided to try to emulate Pep Guardiola with his tacky version of Pep's possession based, tactical setup, we've looked fragile. We don't have players who are capable of playing like that, so I have no clue what possessed him to think that was a good idea.
Norway have some wonderful individual players; Nusa, Haaland, Sörloth, Ödegaard, Bobb...and Berge when he's ON... but as a team they have two main problems: 1. Defence sucks- a hick up or two between minute 70-90 is a law of nature. 2. Tactics. Ball possession (with no movement off the ball) as played today just isn't part of Norway's DNA. 4-5-1 with quick transitions and counter attacks IS. Haaland will always score goals, and I won't be surprised if he ends his Norway career with a goal a game average... but that's HIM. won't help as long as there's no proper spine in the team and the defence is all over the place.
It looks like the Norwegian attackers feel more free without Martin Ødegaard, not having to engage him all the time, but move fast forward rather than playing the ball sideways so much. This gives Nusa room to di his magic, engaging three defenders, trying to stop him, creating space for the other attackers. Of course they're unable to stop him.
I agree, if they want to use him, madeby swap between him and Sørloth at the "Rightwing", he does something with the midtfield i dont like. and that doesnt fit
Norway are now a couple of players away from not only being a team that qualifies for international tournaments, but can also go quite deep. Nyland has had a small revival this season before the injury, but he has always been a question mark, especially when it comes to consistency and not making pivotal errors in crucial moments, and our centre backs have been a weak point for the last three campaigns. Sort that out and we have a team that should be able to challenge in the EUROs and World Cup along the lines of prime Belgium.
Nations League A is going to slaughter Norway unfortunately. More aggressive nations will overrun the weak Norwegian defense. Maybe they get lucky and end 3rd in their group, but that's the best I am expecting. In Uefa Nations League 2025 they are in the same group as France, Switzerland and Iceland.
Think Ødegård doesnt fit propperly in this team. its less fluid with him. if he plays they should rotate him ans Sørloth on the right wing. And Sander Berge is a must stay in that midfield. Haaland should also continue to keep the captains armband. Thats the though of a Norwegian atleast
Because Odegaard can't focus on his offensive capabilities. Because the defence is so bad, Ødegaard have to track back to keep the line in order, which really messes up the games.
"Is Norway now a top team?" lol.... no... we havnt been in a playoff tournament since before Haaland was born.... and dont forget we lost 5-1 against fuckn Austria, we havnt faced big teams at all.. literally ANY team with Haaland upfront should beat these teams with MANY goals 99/100 times.... but at the core, the Norwegian team is trash!
Thanks for making a video about Norway. Good knowledge
Appreciate it! Thanks!
I'm genuinely impressed by your knowledge about Norwegian football. How the hell do you remember Rekdal lmao
Appreciated! Watched Norway through the years - one of the few nations that has never lost to Brazil!

To be fair, Haaland has 38 goals for Norway in 39 matches.

Haaland and Nusa are both serious threats but Haaland and Thorsby has more/better interaction, in my opinion.
Østigård is not a defensive midfielder, he is a centerback. Otherwise, good video
Those who has added to their top level, Thorsby, Ryerson,Sørloth,Berge and Haaland. Keeper is also levering up,looks more assertive.
And waiting in the wings are a couple of promising lads from Rosenborg.
