Of course Charles & Diana's marriage led to tragedy, the Queen & Prince Philip had their failings as parents, Prince Philip could be tactless, and Prince Andrew should disappear from public life. Whatever mistakes the royal family have made, let us be grateful for the service they give, and for the difference the monarchy makes for the better, in the world. There will always be violence in the world, and billions of people who know or understand nothing of the British monarchy.
