Yeah I remember that about my old ballade one which is likely why it's very quiet. I believe the ASM one does not from what I could find. It is noticably louder than the ballade sports one but that may be a result of the exhaust packing being a bit more worn. I've seen comparisons of the ASM Special S 60mm vs 70mm and the 70mm does make more power

I noticed the ballade exhaust is 70mm piping but shrinks down to 60mm inside the muffler. Is that the case with the original?

So when you look inside your new ASM muffler, you don’t see a smaller diameter inner pipe?
No taper in the internals
From where did you get your Helmholtz resonator ? I've bought the same ASM 70mm early version and want to add one.
I got it built from a local fabricator. I had used my old Ballade Sports exhaust as a template for the Helmholtz resonator
