3:17:25 You could put a transformer between your backup battery's output and the next battery's input, then only have the transformer turn on if your base main power storage dips below a certain point, it would also stop the battery from draining so fast the generator won't ever shut off. The main problems with your current generator "backup" is it's firstly too small for the main battery farm (one battery feeding 15+ batteries) and so will get drained too quickly and secondly it's not separated from it, so it's essentially just another part of the main battery farm, not a backup.
Items in series are often called 'tiers'. Items in parallel are often called 'banks'. A group of banks can be called a 'cluster'. So you can have three tiers of air conditioning. Each tier can be a cluster of, say, four banks of AC units that can be turned on or off separately. If each bank has three AC units, a cluster is 12, and the three tiers have a total of 36.
3:49:47 Did I see the AC claim to be placeable _inside_ a frame for a millisecond there? That would be a way to get the bottom piped up the same as the above layers. Just lift them by 1 small unit into a temporary frame.
I have to agree with you Splitsie on the safety gear stuff. I’ve used a pretty wide range of gear for work, everything from body armor to scaffolding. As long as you’re using it within the designed limitations everything is fine. Of course things can fail, but the vast majority of injuries occurred when people weren’t using the gear as it was designed to work. It’s so important to know how to properly use your gear, including its failure limits. Also, had a straight up laugh at the comment about cybertrucks and being able to make them in SE 😂
I think your main issue with how hot the furnace room is getting is the combustor for your water, that machine puts out a LOT of heat plus with the small amount of jetpack gas you've had in there. It might be an idea to close off the combustor when you decide to pressurize that space to save your cooling capacity.
Yeah, I'll have to keep that in mind once I attempt to pressurise the base, fortunately that room with the furnaces is already airlocked from the rest of the facility so even if I forget it'll remain vacuum until I actively override the airlocks, hopefully giving me enough to to remember or be reminded :D
Hey Splitsie, another way to describe SE vs Stationeers: SE shines with solid body mechanics, Stationeers shines with fluid mechanics. Love the content, thanks for making it!
You need 2 electric centrifuges + a bit more for one DeepMiner. I never looked into it in detail but i think the additional centrifuge will be fully used with 5 or 6 DeepMiners. Even with 1 DeepMiner the third Centrifuge will be used if you give it enough time. I use the formular: Electric Centrifuges = DeepMiners * 2 + 1 This only applies as long as you do not exceed the 5 or 6 DeppMiners mentioned. The complete formular may look like this (only whole numbers are considered => 4/5 will be 0): Electric Centrifuges = DeepMiners * 2 + DeepMiners/(6 or 7) + 1 For you case it would be: Electric Centrifuges = 2 * 2 + 2/6 (will be 0) + 1 = 5

I wonder which numbers are the correct ones? I suspect the graph is the approximate ones, though I kinda would have thought they'd use the same calculations to draw the graph as they do for the molecules behaviour in game
@@Flipsie Last I recall, the graph supposedly had some fudge factor so that you can use it to get precise controls for something phase change related. But the graph definitely seems off because of that shift.

Would you suggest the name Kiwi Stellar Pioneers for the KSP spiritual successor? I did not find any info about Rocketwerkz developing such a game. Was it presented at PAX this year?
No plans for more avorion, I really like the game but it performed terribly as content, I think it's too slow in the building phase and too visually busy in the fighting phases for most people :(

I run 3 deep miners and use 7.5 centrifuges. So yes, it's 2.5. I'm guessing your chutes weren't saturated when you observed them. You run the same chute setup i do and it can take a few cycles to saturate.
Another posible alternative for the trader, simply install 3-4 antennas, set them looking at different directions. Turn one on, check, if out of contact, turn that one off, and turn the next one on. Cycle until contact is established. This could make up a good excuse to build a comms tower.
I love Stationeers and the devs, but I don't have much hope for KSA. As a starting point they'll need 15 years of KSP features just to get to a starting point people will be okay with. How long does that take in a new engine? Those features will need to work as well as they currently do. Then you have something that you can build your own game on top of. This just feels like a built-in mode of failure for this franchise and anyone who tries to use it. KSP was amazing for a few hundred hours before it became the most mind numbingly boring game in the world TO ME PERSONALLY. Every launch identical procedure, every rendezvous identical procedure, every docking identical procedure, every homan transfer identical procedure. Then I moved to writing automated scripts for my launches and docking and all I did was press a launch button and that took the final 0.01% of fun away for good. Best of luck to RocketWerkz, but please don't let Stationeers suffer.
The way one of the lead Devs explained it to me was that stationeers will still get similar dev time because it's the project the experienced ones go to when wanting a break from another project and the new devs go to learn how RW do things. This gives the game utility for the team even though it isn't a profitable project
@@Flipsie Thanks, that's good to hear. I admittedly don't keep my ear very close to the dev chat. So it's always nice to hear this stuff from you here and in-stream. Thanks again.
Yeah fair point, I think more people (myself included) can grasp what is meant by chemical engineering than industrial though, as industrial feels almost too broad
Splitse, just wanted to let you know that whoever in your last Stationeers said that landing pad tanks are not insulated is completely wrong or misinformed. The landing pad and its support structures (input/output pumps and tanks) share a singular volume for liquids/gases and are completely insulated. They don't even have a readout on the tablet for convected, radiated, and latent heat transfer. I did a test on Mars (which has night temps as low as -51C) after your last stream and bought from a trader their entire stock of 20C volatiles and left it in the pad for several real days worth of play time before pumping it out. The only temp drop was during the purchase where it dropped 0.1C with no change after that. And the pad tanks are so worth it.
Its a welcome change. 6 months ago, they werent fully insulated but much more insulated than a year ago. It got thankfully tuned down that only a small amount would show a temperature change if any. A year ago the gases inside the tank felt almost like they were connected to atmosphere with a medium radiator... they changed temps really fast and almost required a hangar to be able to sell gases to traders.
If you want a fun Foto look up the crowd around cape canaveral during the apolo lounch and see if you notice something about the average weight there ;)
