    About this Video....
    5-min Art Byte : A series of videos 5-mins of less showing some aspect of Art Creation process.
    This episode of Art Byte contains a demo of how to frame pastel paintings using Spacers, also known as Art Spacers or Frame Spacers.
    Framing Pastel paintings can get tricky. Most framers ask to spray fixative on painting before accepting them for framing, to avoid any damage claims (after all, pastels smudge so easily). However, fixative can alter the colors so it is not always the best course of action to preserve the vibrancy of painting itself.
    We can use store-bought frames and try to frame at home, however, Pastels need to be displayed behind glass, and care must be taken that it doesn't touch the glass surface, otherwise the pastel dust will stick to glass and again damage the painting.
    The Spacers provide an easy and safe way to overcome these problems and allow anyone to frame pastel paintings behind the glass, at home, and in most economical way.
    ===============================
    The Frame Spacer/Art Spacer used in this video:
    EconoSpace, 1/8" airspace, CLEAR.
    You can find it here - amzn.to/3ldmegW
    These are available in 1/4", 1/8", 1/16" and 3/8" thickness. I used 1/8" thickness for standard store-bought frames. Thicker spacers can be used for frames with deep rabbet.
    I prefer "clear" version, but you can use Black or White specially if your frame is either black or white... You can see some of these options here:
    1/8", Clear = amzn.to/3ldmegW
    1/8", black = amzn.to/3hfSIo5
    1/8", White = amzn.to/3iXziot

    Thank you for this video. Im new with oil pastels. I red something about putting hairapray on top of the painting. Is that neccesary or are these spacers the only thing i need to use when the painting is done?
