It’s pretty interesting this type of a cop movie coming on the heels of World War two. You can imagine these guys having been veterans of fire fights in combat exchanging gunfire with wannabe thugs. You can imagine them having little sympathy for those yo-yos, because when these guys were 18 they were storming the beaches at At Normandy and liberating Paris
Awesome sets and images. The screenplay was meh… very predictable and improbable at the same time. The female characters are both quite ridiculous, and the mobster bad guy is just plain stupid.
I recognized Edmond O'Brien from one of my favourite movies, White Heat with Jimmy Cagney and wasn't the fighting boy on the 1951 science fiction movie The Day The Earth Stood Still? Billy Gray, I had to google his name to find out.
O'Brien was in DOA, and that was a fine piece of film, with its Jazz locations in San Francisco, and the idea behind the film creative, and intriguing.
Interesting/entertaining. Enjoy viewing 👀 cars/neon lights/police communications equipment/street lights of that era-!!!🤗. Remember O'BRIEN in numerous movies of that era. Spectacular shoot out ending-!!!😳
Good movie. It was nice to see Gale Storm in a serious dramatic role. She played it well. The only thing I remember her in was "My Little Margie" and that was insufferable.

Good flick. At the 1:16:22 mark, the shot of squad cars leaving the police station I recognized instantly, it was repeatedly used in episodes of Superman. Studios would sell such footage to the smaller studios and/or TV productions. Warner Brothers used for years and years scenes from it's big budget Errol Flynn Westerns in TV series such as Maverick, Cheyenne. 90 percent of the time, if Maverick or whomever was entering a town, it was the shot of Virginia City from the Flynn film by that name. The exterior shots of the Warner Brothers cavalry fort from that era, along with shots of Indians attacking it, was used over and over in it's Western TV shows. Later "F Troop" filmed in it, used the old footage as well.
I love this great old movie 3rd time watching. But has anyone else noticed when all cars are called out to Garrisons girlfriends apartment that Rocky is riding with Pappy??? LOL..gets me everytime.
It does look like Rocky but it isn’t. If you look at most of the policemen in this scene most of them look very similar - young, dark haired, same height but with all the extras in this scene, no director would allow a deceased officer to continue in this scene. Why would they?
I feel awful for the Police in our Country today. People are so disrespectful to them. And all that hard work just for the justice system to throw the criminals back out on the streets again. The awful things they see. Trying to handle the addicted and mentally ill. It's a tuff job for not a lot of pay. Risking their lives for people who don't even appreciate them. It's really disgusting. Much respect to our Men in Blue.
So did teachers, nurses, office workers, heck, everybody dressed better back then. Have you seen teachers these days? Sleeve tattoos, green hair, nose rings, spaghetti straps, body-hugging clothing. No professionalism whatsoever. And then they're told to dress code the girls with exposed belly button piercings when the teachers themselves are disrespecting their position by their unprofessional appearance.
