Nice video, and very nice Gew 98! I must be a little nitpicky, though. At 7:41, you say the Type 99 and Springfield 1903 are based on the Mauser ‘98 action. Both of those rifles actually fall under the earlier Mauser ‘93 family. The Type 99 is a direct descendant of the Type 38, which was a simplification of the Type 30, which was based on 1893 and 1895 export pattern Mausers. The Springfield 1903 was developed from Spanish 1893 Mausers captured during the Spanish-American War.
I absolutely love my Gew 98. It was made in 1915 by DWM. 100% original amd the barrel is absolutely spotless and shiny. My most accurate rifle by far. I shot it at 400 meters and had the sights cranked up to 600busing PPU. I really lucked out as they're so hard to come by here in Australia.
Wow! All original, what a gem to own! Finding one in that condition is rare! Hoping to get out to a range farther than 200 yards in the future! Were there exceptions for bolt-actions in Australia? Thanks for watching!
Cory Dunaway I'm happy with mine.. thank you 😊. You know, some of those Turk Gew98s stared as original German Gew98s.. does yours have German markings / proofs / acceptance stamps?
Once upon a time, when I was young, I had the chance to get for myself an M98 German Mauser while the getting was good, but in my infinite wisdom I passed it up! And I am still tempted to bash myself in the nose for that!!
Anyone has information on a Gewehr 98 anniversary 100th Jubile? I saw one for sale. Any info on the quality? I heard these were made in 1998 as a commemorative. Beautiful gewehr 98 you got there sir… 👍
Thank you sir! Try www.gunboards.com in the "Military Mauser Forum" and www.k98kforum.com in the "Mauser Rifles 1870 to 1918 - The Imperial Era." First time hearing about this 100th Jubilee edition! Thanks for watching!
Thanks ET! I haven't slugged the bore, but the S engraved on barrel indicates .323 diameter (Spitzer Bullet). Yep I need a taller front sight!! 🤣😂... hahaha
Found mine on a local gun forum, see what's local to you!! Also check GunBroker, Checkpoint Charlies, Simpsons Ltd, Liberty Tree Collectors and other gun forums/stores! Also if you have a C&R, can be shipped to you directly! Good Luck!
Do you have a link to where you got the stock and cleaning rod? I have a 1916 also that has the sporterized stock and would like the military version stock.
I got the stock posting a WTB ad in gunboards(dot)com, got lucky a member sold it to me 🤠. The cleaning rod got on EBay. Check gun forums and place WTB ads, might get lucky as well! Thanks for watching!
Thanks man! I learned to shoot from appleseedinfo.org/ :) Best thing that improved my shooting after Appleseed was looking through the target, keeping your shooting eye open all the way, and keeping the trigger depressed like a second or two after shot goes off. Thanks for watching!

Thank you! I stand corrected! I always thought the 98 was what they were based on, but you are right, it is the 93. Appreciate you!

@@HangInThereCat you can own bolt actions no problem Australia wide, some minor changes here and there from state to state but overall it's the same.
The original Gewerh 98s are so bad ass to me. I have a K98k love it. I’ll eventually get a Gew 98.
Oh yeah! I agree as well!!! Something about the original! Thanks for watching! :)

Outstanding. What a treasure you have there. All you need is a taller front sight lol. Excellent shooting. What's the bore diameter? .323?

You're an amazing shot. What's your technique to good bench shooting?
