    A very engaging, practical review for people who just want to find good, fun pens to use reliably. Your demonstration fits my uniformly excellent experience with Jinhao pens! Thanks.

    Finally seeing this video. Thank you for pointing it out to me. I bought one with Tiger Wood. Love the color variation. The nib is very smooth as is the case with the other Jinhao I own.
    Great review.
    Thanks again c

    A really good pen. The most funny that I read in comments about Jinhao Heritage 9056 is that it is a Concklin clone and it is BETTER than the original All-American variant. Still using it from time to time. So cool and fun item in my collection

    I got one a few months ago. I love the Jinhao 159, and thought that this would be a nice complement. I have not inked it up yet, I am waiting to give it a good run. I have not yet had a Jinhao that was not a good writer. The look and feel of the pen is wonderful, though. I expect to love writing with it.

    Very good idea to do a double review pen + ink!

    I’ve picked up all three of these pens. Very nice quality.

      So have I, and very happy. All together, I paid a little more of 30 euros for all three!!! However, the "red" one came with a small spot at the end of the cap, maybe bacause of the glue that joins the threads to the wood. Nothing major, though.
      My "black wood" piece says "INHERITANCE" instead of "HERITAGE", LOL, and I have it now equipped with a Delta M steel nib. Maybe I will also try the gold one from my Dolce Vita, hehe...

    I have one of these and reground the nib into a 1mm stub. It’s excellent, and at that price, it’s also a great value. Nice review!

      I can see why, this would be a great pen for a stub nib.

    Thanks, James. Your review tempted me to drop in for the first time on Birmingham Pen Company's website, previously unknown to me. They clearly produce an impressive range of inks, as well as handsome, hand-made fountain pens. Most pens are either $199 or $299, so a bit much for this old pensioner, but the output from this very small family company does look beautifully finished, and a few of their resins are spectacular.

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, their last batch of pens was a pretty big increase, but I think they were also in more limited runs. I have an older (not that old) one that was half that, including a bottle of ink. the resin is impressive, and so is the craftsmanship. Their inks are among my favorites, and they put them on sale fairly often.

    I've had similar experiences with Jinhao. All that I've gotten have been really nice writers.
    I've heard people compare the 9056 to the Conklin all-American. But, as I've said before, there's only so many ways to make a pen, and the modern Conklin sure doesn't live up to the standards set by the original Conklin pens, so, IMO, it's fair game to see if it can be improved. 😁
    This is another I've had on my "to buy" list, so I plan to get one, fairly soon. Thanks for sharing this, as well as the great looking green ink! God bless!

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, I'd consider it competition to the Conklin rather than a copy. Both are derivative in their cigar shape.

      @@JG3Reviews I have the Conklin All American. Terrible issues with the random skipping (Got 4 yes 4 different Conklin Nib/feeds and they all exhibit the same trait). I was also advised that Jinhao MAKE the Conklin All American, but YAFA/Conklin dicked around with the feed. Make of that what you will. I see this pen with a metal (Tiger) cap. I think I need to buy that. Again, excellent review.

    Thanks James! I really enjoy my JinHao 9056. Lightweight, comfortable, caps well and a joy to write with. Now you have me wondering why I only have one? Birmingham inks are one of my two "go to" inks. I like the "crisp" and "forever" lines best. Also, the nib unit unscrews for easier cleaning!

    I am really curious about the sandalwood versions of this pen. It would be really cool to have a pen made of real sandalwood that emits a nice smell. These versions seem to be priced higher but another reviewer mentioned that they do not have any smell which is a bummer.

    I bought the "cheap" cousin of this one, the 9035 --- also carrying a #6 nib , another winner from Jinhao

    I wonder if you have that reversed about the box. My experience is AliExpress typically does not have boxes

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm... You might be right about that.

    • @TheNightowl001
      @TheNightowl001 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I was wondering about that. I've bought a LOT of Jinhao pens from AliExpress (and eBay, and Banggood, and I don't know who else, but probably not Amazon), and I know I've NEVER gotten a "nice" box with a Jinhao pen. I've had some of those really cheap pink-and-black generic "pen" boxes with my 999 and I think the 126s, but none of the others came in boxes. They came either in just a plastic sleeve or one of those velveteen drawstring bags.

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes on AliExpress you have the option of adding the box for a slightly higher price. I almost never opt for the box. But I just checked a few minutes ago, and I believe it probably was the pen from Amazon after all.

    I think these pens use composite reconstituted wood material.

  • @crouserm

    Doesn't it seem that the pen size would have justified a size larger nib?

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It would be a great pen for a larger nib, but I don't know if Jinhao produces anything larger than a 6. If they do, I'd sure like to know about it.

      @@JG3Reviews If that were the case, they should try using a number 7 to 8 or even larger. It would be something that they can try for a big company as theirs

    If the ink is not supposed to feather, then check it on poor paper. Not many inks feather on Rhodia. Good pen review. I like my 9056 as well.

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point. I've used on several, and no feathering yet. That would include postcards, Daiso store paper, Mead spiral paper (no feathering, just a bit of bleeding, which most inks do in that spiral), and cheap copy paper (no feathering, just bleeding).

    I have one of those in the (I believe) walnut stain. I can't tell you what the actual wood used is. It doesn't really feel heavy enough to be real walnut, which is a pretty dense wood. I haven't inked mine up yet. I'm waiting on some Kaigelu #6 EF nibs (on eBay) to swap one of those into it before I ink it.

    I feel i may have gotten a knockoff Jinhao! Looking at the one i purchased on Ebay, my pen has "Inheritance" instead of Heritage, even though it still has a Jinhao nib. Not enough to care about, as its a great writer, but weird that mine is different. God bless you as always James & anyone reading this! (Matthew 5:45)

      @manoloyloles 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi, Robert. Is your pen the one in "black" wood? I have 3 of these pens, and the black one has "Inheritance", instead of "Heritage", but it is indeed the same pen as the other two. I also purchased all 3 pens from the same Aliexpress shop, so surely it is a Jinhao. God bless.

    • @robmc120
      @robmc120 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@manoloyloles No, good ol tiger wood. IDC all that much as long it's a real Jinhao, misspellings/minor tweaks that don't affect the function/form are nothing to worry about, but figured it's worth asking. Thanks for responding, I pray the best for you!
