Me dejó impactado cuando la escuche a mis 8 años. No entendia el inglés pero no importaba mucho, se notaba que más eran sonidos en la boca del cantante. la melodía era bonita , la estructura de la canción exótica y la voz paralizante.
For those who wondered, the comedian at the end the description is referring to, is Andre van Duin. A Dutch comedian. The man is still alive and doing TV shows. He is a living legend in the Netherlands when it comes to comedy, as his sketches are timeless, not insulting anyone. He also created a lot of party songs in Dutch. This 'surfin bird' performance was his first TV performance and a sort of talent show. He won that show and it was the start of his long career.

Pardon me, but I am unsure as to the actual locution to which the phrase "the word" refers. Please tell me what this expression refers to, and I will thank you with all of my heart.
K D I think you’ll find if you dive deep deep into the olden pages that the collage professors don’t want you to know about, Adam (Adam and eve) was not at all called ‘Adam’ but instead a man originally born ‘Peter Griffin’ adopted the name ‘Adam’ and named the bird ‘Casey’. Eve (who was originally born Louis but adopted the name Eve) said ‘not everything can be called casey’ so she named it ‘Bird’ Therefore, the bird is unofficially offically ‘the word’

@@justindawson5930 I agree....i may have underestimated.
I can't sit still when I hear this song. LOVE IT!!
Hearing this today is bonkers! Imagine this coming on the radio back in 1963!!! That's what I'm talking about.
Everybody was probably confused but enjoying it
I don't have to imagine it. I was there! It was an instant hit, straight to the top of the charts. I heard literally thousands of transistor radios at once on Jones Beach, NY blaring this. It was a riot.
@@edgarsnake2857 Happy to say, I was there, and it was as cool as it gets.
@@edgarsnake2857 I was there too and with my last name as Bird all I heard from everyone for years was "hey Bird what's the word?"

This is one man doing an act of pure insanity for two minutes yet he owns the scene better than most groups i have seen nowadays.
These are 2 different men in the video. The 2nd one is andre van duin
@@ddh3450 That is true. I was thinking about Andre Van Duin's bird-dance toward the end, though Dick Clark does an amazing job too.
If you watch the Nirvana "in bloom" video, it sort of riffs on this age of bands on TV "nice clean cut boys in suits" sort of thing...the music artists of the age really did need to wear a smart suit and look conventional to get on these music shows and they were hugely constrained in how they could express themselves...Andre's walking/dancing at the end must have been "absolutely scandalous" back in the day!
That's a fact Jack😂

Andre van Duin is still dancing
at 1.07 it changes to a 1964 parody, performed by a dutch comedian 'André Van Duin'. That was actually part of his first ever public TV performance at the age of 17
Genius
I love this song thank you very much
Whenever I'm feeling down and stuck in life, I come back to this song to remind myself that if this song can make it, I can too.

@@peter-coatesI think we all just remember the bird is the word :)
I know this was and still is a joke/meme song both in 1963 and today but in all seriousness this shit was way ahead of its time. You can easily hear the influences on later styles of music that derived from rock (particularly punk) in the instrumentals and vocals. These dudes were the epitome of "You might not be ready for this, but your kids are going to love it."
A lot of the 60s rock influenced punk once disco died. A lot of 60s stuff has that dark but energetic tone to it
Lester Bangs once wrote that the essence of rock and roll is that it’s mindless raving shit and Surfer Bird is the proof.😂
You are exactly correct. " Rock lobster" by B 52s is a clear example
It's because they haven't heard...
There were also numerous punk band covers, including one by The Ramones.

This song was so innovative and unique and back in '63, probably the first punk-rock song ever invented. They thought it was an absolute idiocy back then, now it's a classic.
How 'bout "Love Me" by The Phantom from 1958.
Or any Hasil Adkins' songs, which recorded them since 1955. For example "We Got A Date (I Need Your Head)", recorded around 1956-1958.

Easily. This guy recently had a conversation with his mother-in-law…
I imagine by then science will have confirmed that the bird is greater or equal than the word..
the bird will explain
Like they always do when they don't have an explanation. They will say it is a shrine to an unknown god whose avatar is a bird.
The fact this reach number 4 spot of the billboard in the 60's makes this even more hilarious 😂
Do you know about the bird?
The bird dance at the end is the greatest bird dance of all time.

The only other best bird dance was done by Native Americans in The Doors music. 👍

Cage U. Cage U. Ahhh. Pardon me. Well allow me to explain, the so aforementioned ‘the word’ is in fact the ‘bird’
Eve (who was originally born Louis but adopted the name Eve) said ‘not everything can be called casey’ so she named it ‘Bird’
Therefore, the bird is unofficially offically ‘the word’
K D please refer to this educational video to understand the true meaning of ‘the word’ th-cam.com/video/PBAVPpWl4cA/w-d-xo.html
