    After waiting years to have my own piano my husband is buying me this beauty for Christmas! (I'm pretty sure!) I don't think he'll see much of me once I have It! I cannot wait!

      would you get 605 or 603?

    • @gistpianocenter
      @gistpianocenter  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend the 605 if you have access to Bluetooth. The 605 has a six-speaker surround system (the 603 is a stereo system with two speakers), the 605 has Bluetooth AUDIO streaming (the 603 only has MIDI and page turn) and the 605 has two metal clips that hold your music open (the 603 has no clips). You'd be surprised at how big a difference those three features make!

    Looked at the Clavinovas and found all of them in this price range lacking. So, I found a Roland hp605 that was just off a few months rental and had the full warranty! I never looked back as this Roland has been awesome and is much more than I could have ever gotten from the clavinovas under $3000.

    Hello! My order of ROLAND HP-605 Will be arriving tomorrow and i was wondering why the touch is a bit heavier than the yamaha because i thought that it was heavier than YAMAHA when i tested both of the pianos! Why is it heavier?

    • @gistpianocenter
      @gistpianocenter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello and thanks for your question. I am not sure which Yamaha you were comparing it to because the Roland HP-605 has a lighter touch than most Clavinovas. I have weight-tested them myself. Which Yamaha were you comparing it to?

    • @PianoPrinceOfAnime
      @PianoPrinceOfAnime 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gist Piano Center Ohhh i tested the CLP series to ROLAND HP-605!!! And i must say that I like the weight of the Roland better and i don't know why TT.TT

    • @gistpianocenter
      @gistpianocenter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I tested the CLP series Clavinova vs. the Roland HP series and the CLP series Clavinova is weighted too heavily at the beginning and then too lightly through the keystroke. I am not sure what they've done there, but the touch isn't right. It doesn't compare favorably to a grand piano when you use a technician's key weight. The Roland, however, has exactly the same key weighting as an acoustic grand. That's probably why you love it! Hahaha. Thanks for your comment!

      Im a prof pianist/studio musician, and I have ALWAYS preferred Roland pianos to Yamaha especially the FP series.
      You are correct, Roland has a lighter but more satisfying touch, making intricate fast right-hand fingering easier to bring off. Yamaha Clavinova's touch is way heavier and more unresponsive to quick playing, no question. But then again, I've been using Roland synths like the Jupiter 8 and JX-3P since I was 11, so perhaps I'm biased...
      Im moving on from my Roland FP-7 to this HP-605, simply because it is a nicer piece of furniture, its app is amazing, and I'll use it for private teaching, so I need to impress...
      Its expensive but having tried it out, I think its worth it.

    This is an excellent digital piano. I personally think it's even better than the Yamaha Clavinova

    What is the wt in grams shown on the depressed key. Thanks for the info, I am not a very good piano player, and do not want a too heavy a touch. Thanks again!!

    • @gistpianocenter
      @gistpianocenter  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, dennykathy, and thanks for watching! Most manufacturers today build with a key touch weight of about 50 grams. That's down about 10 grams from the "heavier" touch pianos of the early 90s. I hope that helps!

    Hey Gist, its possible to play any classical piece on this model? And practice to play in exams? Like... above grade 8+.

    • @gistpianocenter
      @gistpianocenter  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, Thiago and thanks for your question. Yes, we have had several classical performers use the HP-605 for rehearsals and even for performance. The key action is properly waited (unlike their most notable competition)... so you can really have a grand piano experience playing it. Also, the sound is modeled - not sampled. This gives you the same natural overtones and organic dynamics you'd find on an acoustic instrument. I think you'll be quite surprised. Try one!

    Which one sounds better Yamaha clp 645 or the hp605

    • @gistpianocenter
      @gistpianocenter  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The HP-605 uses modeling technology with unlimited polyphony and natural harmonic overtones. This provides a far greater depth of expression than the CLP-645 can do with it's sampled tone and 256-note polyphony. Also, the CLP-645 has a 2-speaker stereo sound system and the HP-605 has a 6-speaker "Acoustic Projection" 3D surround system. If properly customized to your tonal taste, the Roland will sound quite a bit better and more "piano-like" than the Yamaha.

    What is the slight advantage, technically speaking, of the HP-605 over the cheaper HP-603?
    Thanks

    • @gistpianocenter
      @gistpianocenter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Danny! Thanks for your question. Forgive me if I seem pedantic here, but I am just trying to be clear. The HP-603 is discontinued and gone. I'll give you the differences between the new HP-603A and the HP-605. The 603A only has a two-speaker stereo speaker system. The 605 has a 6-speaker surround system (called "Acoustic Projection"). It sounds quite a bit better through its onboard speakers. It also has a slightly larger cabinet to house the speakers and metal clips to hold your music open. They both have Bluetooth AUDIO/MIDI/PAGE Turn. I hope that helps!

    • @PianoDanny
      @PianoDanny 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I guess it must be the HP-603A.
      Thats very clear - thanks for your help. Definitely worth going for the 605.

      Glad to help. I definitely like the 605 better. That bigger speaker system makes a difference. Good luck!

    which one is better between roland & kawai?

    • @gistpianocenter
      @gistpianocenter  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have sold both and we have FAR fewer service concerns and a much more authentic piano sound/touch with Roland pianos. I also find Roland to be far easier to use - especially if you want to incorporate apps into your playing experience. I would definitely recommend Roland!

    Does Roland give 10 years warranty of HP-603, HP-605 and LX-7, LX-17 in INDIA?

    • @gistpianocenter
      @gistpianocenter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, Vaibhav, I am not sure on that one. You best bet is to check with your local Roland dealer.
