Ive got those Mobo and I must say for that price you can get better.. but- one think what i hate- northbridge geting freeking hot and on summer - if you dont got good case - cost you a troble by overheating
I buy most of the products, but some companies like Fortakas sometimes borrow me hardware to review (the videos with the Fortakas logo). No, I'm not rich at all, I just saved up a lot of money to start this reviewing business and I try to sell most of the hardware so I can buy new pieces to review. All I can say is, it's a very hard business.
I don't want to include the exact price, because it's different in every country and it changes over time. So people that watch the video like 3 months later could say I included the wrong pricing. I hope you understand that! :)
Actually this is one of the best budged 990FX chipset motherboards which you gonna use only with AMD FX 4xxx series cause of 4+1 power design. And you can do even some decent overclock of FX 4xxx. You can use even 6xxx or 8xxx version of FX series but I recommend only 95W TDP version (FX 6300, 8300, 8310, 8320E and 8370E) and only on stock frequency. I know that I'm too late with this comment but still good review.
Well, I guess the new FX chips aren't really supported right out of the box by this motherboard, but it the board shouldn't crash when in the BIOS, so you should be able to update the BIOS then.
ASRock says 2100MHz, but I believe these additional 33MHz shouldn't kill. So yes, I think 2133MHz should be supported, although I haven't tried it since I only own 2000MHz Memory.
www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/6000/6950# this graphics card fits into the motherboard? and working properly? and you can do crossfire? specifications of the hd 6950 says "PCI Express 2.1 x16" this motherboard says 2.0 is the same, no?
This motherboard rocks! I've had it for nearly 6 to 8 years, give or take. My system is Asrock 990FX Extreme3 Mobo, FX-6400 (Vishera 6-core) processor, 16 gigs of Ram, Ti-750 dual fan 2 gig video card, running under Windows 7, and I haven't had any issues. I do not overclock it, because that shortens the lifespan of the system. Not a single maintenance issue, and I haven't cleaned it in over 2 years, or longer. lol
Got it with a FX8350 and 8GB RAM...;) I won't be able to use my 2 USB3.0 panel on my HAF 932 Advanced but I am short of money so I can wait till the new stuff comes from AMD later and get a new and probably better mobo. But for its price it has almost everything.
Nice review, doing a $1 500 Australian builds with an 8320, 16GB RAM and GTX 760s in SLI and still wanting a 990FX board, 2TB HDD, SSD, 650W 80+ PSU, Hyper 212 Evo and a Carbide 300R
I have this mobo but only with fx6100. I'm planning to buy a Fx8350 but at the asrock website this cpu doesnt in the supported cpu list, so will it work cause now i cant buy the older fx8150 in Hungary, but i need stronger cpu.
Great Video. I am thinking of buying the asrock 990fx extreme 3 motherboard. I am planning on running crossfire on two sapphire 7950s. I am not planning on overclocking my CPU which is the FX-8350. Am i going to have any problems because of the fact that my M/B. has 4+1 power phase design?
Jimmy Greek Any issues with VRM overheating and CPU throttling? I just ordered this board and an FX-8320 which I'm hoping to overclock to an 8350. That way it'll feed my dual 270X's what they need (assuming the over clock doesn't overheat the VRM and throttle the CPU)
Patrick Woolard no and if you ordered it send it back, dont open it or anything, it has no usb 3.0 header its like someone selling you a car with no air conditioner. its not necisarry but if your new $30,000 car didnt have it and better cars for the same price had it, it would be really head aching
for just a little bit more you could get a 990fx Fatal1ty from ASRock, With the 12+2 power phase the vdroop is nearly gone on the board and runs cooler then the Extreme3 at a higher clock.
i cant chosse between ASRock 990FX Extreme3, AM3+ and ASRock 970 Extreme4, AM3+ please Nicolas11x12TECHX help me what is better (size, quality, look, bios) and many more thanks :D .D please reply fast :D danke :)
hey, where do you get these products? do you pay for them yourself, or do the companies lend you them for your reviews? cuz if you pay for them, holy crap you're rich XD
So these board has 2 disadvantages. It ---may--- not support new vishera out of the box ,but because of the 990fx cheap it may just recognize it to just go to bios and make your update(i hope). Many online shops keep older stocks, that's why i am afraid.Does anyone have bought this from amazon uk these days? Anyway secondly, it doesn't have internal usb3.0, for usb3.0 cases. But i can make this question just to talk it here(interesting convo).Really, how useful is usb 3.0 except sticks and drives?
ASRock and the other motherboard manufacturers are doing the best they can, but AMD seriously need to improve their chipsets and mobo specs. They're still using the same layout and essentially the same chipset(plus a few more sata ports,no native usb 3no modern features etc) from almost a decade ago. Using the same motherboard is bound to affect a new cpu's performance, especially in the power and cooling.
I bought this + Amd fx 4300 and 1 card of 8gb ram, I put all the things together and when i powered it up the, even tho the fans and all the stuff inside were working , the monitor didnt show anyting, the monitors light just went on and off like the pc was shut down and only the monitor was ON., any ideas plz guys :/
I am considering buying this along with a Club 3D Radeon HD 7870 graphic card and a AMD Black Edition AMD FX 8150 / 3.6 GHz processor. Is there anything I should notice or take care of with this setup? This is my first build btw. :-)
Great Review Nicolas, but I wonder how Its gonna cost in my country. Youre right, price can change a lot in many countries. Not all have the option to buy on Newegg.
Did you solve this? I have the same problem with other parts, but the only idea I had was to throw a different spare video card in and see if the BIOS came up.
I have this with an amd 8350 and it doesn't always start... It turns out this board has a 4-1 power phase which simply can't handle the system starting up...
It's built and it's wonderful. AMD FX 6 core, Dual 7850 4 gigs, 16 gigs ram, Crucial SSD 240 gig, 1 terabyte hard drive, 7 case fans and 14,724 3dmark11. It plays BF4 on max and I get no less than 80FPS and tops out over 200.
Great review Nicolas! This does seem like a great motherboard, especially given the price. I'm in South Africa, and here this motherboard is on the same price level as an Asus that only has a 970 chip. Even the Extreme4 is cheaper than an M5A99X (990FX vs 990X and has a USB3 panel included!) The only worry i have here is the after sales support, given that there are very few dealers of ASRock, with the market dominated by Asus and Gigabyte! Great value though
Hey, your reviews are really good I like them alot! I would rly like to buy this motherboard, but I'm waiting for new CPUs to come out and see what socket they use so I guess I'm not buying this one, atleast yet.. Although it is really good mobo considering the price and the looks! Anyway greetings from Finland and good luck to you! Thank you for the review!
This motherboard can also unlock CPU cores (UCC feature)!
Example of similar video: Unlock a CPU core (Phenom II X4 960T into X6 1605T)
Ive got those Mobo and I must say for that price you can get better.. but- one think what i hate- northbridge geting freeking hot and on summer - if you dont got good case - cost you a troble by overheating

"PCI Express 2.1 x16"

is the same, no?
Yes. With no problem
support fx 8320?
Yes, it officially supports up to an FX-8350.

will this motherboard support the fx9370 cpu?
I would recommend the extreme 9 version. The 12+1 phase cpu power will deal fine with the power draw.
Unfortunately no. The 9370 is a 220w CPU and this board only supports 140x CPUs.
hi , can i use coolermaster T4 on this motherboard ? ( my cpu is AMD-FX 8320 )

My usb 3 port doesn't work on this mobo. It's all enabled even in the bios.

its the bridge that gets very hot I have h60 cooler and t28 case worth getting the bored as its 88pounds now only dropped by penny's
So this board won't bottleneck an AMD Black Edition Octacore FX 8320 unlike the 970 Pro3?
3-way Sli is NOT possible because the last pci-express slot is only 4x.
I am considering buying this along with a Club 3D Radeon HD 7870 graphic card and a AMD Black Edition AMD FX 8150 / 3.6 GHz processor. Is there anything I should notice or take care of with this setup? This is my first build btw. :-)
Prompt, this motherboard ASRock 990FX Extreme3, suitable processor AMD X8 FX-8350?
It seems to fit, but it's better to ask ...
this one will be better look at bus speed and price 970 chip is a lot slower and the 990fx chip is for gaming and high end use
Hey, does anyone know if this motherboard can fit a coolermaster hyper 212 evo cpu cooler?
Yes it can, there's a review of it on the Vortez forums showing a Hyper 212 Evo installed and performing flawlessly.
yes I had used one on them before upgrading to the fx6300 its an ok bored does get very hot hope this helps
Great Review Nicolas, but I wonder how Its gonna cost in my country. Youre right, price can change a lot in many countries. Not all have the option to buy on Newegg.

this one works very well and can overclock it a dream I got 4.0mhz low price worth having
Yes, i'm running this motherboard and the fx-8350 cpu, worked fine out of the box, and it wasnt in the latest bios.
Should i get this or the asrock 970 extreme 4, the 970 ha internal usb 3.0, planning on getting the fx 8350
It has 6x 6GB/s SATA ports from the chip-set, but one of them is used for the eSATA connection.
Ah okay, hm, I should get an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX instead then?
Thanks for the reply btw. :)
This isnt a review ????? its an UNBOXING !!!!! where is the benchmark tests ????
motherboard benchmarks????? for what? color reflections??? wtf
***** OC ability? maybe
***** get a sabertooth for overclocking...
How much do you think I can squeze out of a FX 8350 running on this mobo? Thx. in advance!
recommend is pronounced wreck oh mend. But that aside I am subscribing to your channel.
Does ist Support the FX Series CPU's like the FX 6300 ?:)
Yes, it officially supports up to an FX-8350 8-core processor.

Is this compatible with windows8?
Can I overclock FX 8320E to at least 4.7Ghz on this motherboard, and what voltage should I use?

Can i install somehow m2 ssd disc on this board?
How much videocards can i find on this?
Not gtx with amd, gtx and intel are good but amd if use a HD card
Will fx 8350 and radeon r9 290 work with this
Yes it will :)
does it support the new fx chips like the 6300 out of the box?
go on the asrock main website full list of cpus
not many people use 6 sata ports man so who cares if there one less
If you need more you could build a nas. I recommend doing that anyway.
I wanna buy this motherboard but does it come with stqndoffs
Will this motherboard take the 8 gb ripjaws g skil 2133mhz?
I have amd fx 8350 and gtx 1050 will it work in this mobo?

Always the latest version at the time of this video.
but shorely it will cos its an am3+ socket
Does anyone know if this board is compatible with the AMD FX9370 8 Core CPU? I need to know pleeease :)
Unfortunately it doesn't. This motherboard only supports up to 140W Processors, and the AMD FX-9370 is a whopping 220W.
Thanks :)
dont rub it in my face bro *twerks on your eyebrow*
Just a tip: it's riekoomend instead of riekommend
what's the diffrence between this and extreme 4?
how can i update the bios with out a cpu or os
Are you a TH-cam partner?
does it support phenom 2 4x 955 black edition
i cant update bios then when its a new build
Do i have to flash the bios for an fx 6100?
Will this support a FX 8350 out of the box?
Building a AMD-FX-6.. Dual 7850 4 gig.. Lets see what it does....
Bad choice... For the prize of that you can build a computer with the FX 8350, R9 270X and 8 GB of RAM. Dont buy that.
Alright, thanks for the information!
In the box says the version of the BIOS?
My mouse is fine in the bios.
you need a Z77 asrock, with 1155 socket
Only thing I don't like is the lack of internal USB 3.0 connections :P
you can get a usb 3.0 pci expansion card
My usb 3 connection doesn't even work. If u guys got tips on how to make it work that will be great.
Great review Nicolas! This does seem like a great motherboard, especially given the price. I'm in South Africa, and here this motherboard is on the same price level as an Asus that only has a 970 chip. Even the Extreme4 is cheaper than an M5A99X (990FX vs 990X and has a USB3 panel included!)

You're right, this one has a very nice look to it. Keep up the good work Nic!
Does this support intel CPUs aswell?
thank for the informative review and unboxing :D
Hey, your reviews are really good I like them alot!
I would rly like to buy this motherboard, but I'm waiting for new CPUs to come out and see what socket they use so I guess I'm not buying this one, atleast yet.. Although it is really good mobo considering the price and the looks!
Anyway greetings from Finland and good luck to you! Thank you for the review!
Still using it to this day
the best features on this mobo is, the pcie x16 slave running same as the master x16 mode. Both pcie x16 slot running At x16 mode. Nice. Am i right?
need some awesome cooler then
what are the dimensions of it?
works AM3 also?
is it good for overclocin fx8150?
manager96ful Absolutely no!!
Don't buy that! You need a 8 phases motherboard.
Does it work with amd fx 8350
is the pcb black or brown ?
Don't be that type of guy..
Good review though Nich, I just wish they'd improve, I'm tired of all my AMD boards looking almost the same.
