Cavalry history and development from 1700 onwards through American War of Independance, Napoleonic Wars, charge of the Light Brigade, Civil War, Indian Wars, Zulu Wars, Boer War and First World War, to name a few is fascinating. Subscribed . You have alot of videos to make lol

It would be great if you could cover the Australian Stock saddle. It's not at all like a Western saddle, but something like an English dressage saddle but with pads/rolls in front of and often behind the thighs, and seat position further back than a Dressage saddle. Usually ridden with longer stirrup leathers than would be typical for dressage, with the legs sloping more forward.

I planned to discuss an Aussie saddle in my next video! There’s a member or two of our dragoon unit who uses an Aussie for our interpretations. ⚔️

Wish you would have taken a look at the US Cavalrys' McClellan saddle. It isn't 18th century, but it seems to have been influenced a lot by the 18th century hussar saddle. Good work.

McClellan actually went all around Europe looking for the best saddle and the best thing he found was the cowboy saddle in america which they got from the vacaros of Mexico so he modified it a bit and made what is arguably the best cavalry saddle of the 19th century

@@missourimongoose8858 If you take a close look at the McClellan you will notice a lot of similarities between it and the British Light Cavalry or as Kate called it Hussar saddle. McClellan had been an official observer in the Crimean War attached to the British Army. He designed the saddle which bore his name following that experience. The 1857 McClellan, which was 7 to 10 pounds lighter to the Grimsley depending on the model, began replacing the Grimsley (which was a real pain as well as heavy) in 1858 although the Grimsley continued throughout the Civil War with some units and many commanders both North and South in fact Lee's saddle was a modified Grimsley. I had an 1857 McClellan but the rawhide seat and stitching would dry out and become like a dagger. Never could figure out how to keep it oiled well enough to keep that from happening. I now have an 1883 McClellan. It was suitable for Civil War reenacting or old west Cavalry as long as there wasn't a thread counter that wanted to ruin everything. Wonderful job Kate really enjoyed it. Keep up the great work!

If I cannot ride I saddle sit my '1859 McClellen' ( replica) and practice proper seating and posture
.. (watching a video from a riders view and perspective would be wonderfully welcomed ... I'm texting on my enclosed porchon 'sitting' my saddle/ stand right now ... try it! .... Madame a 40 minute video of just such content would be appreciated ...
