I had a thought of if the srv would go faster in a straight line by “hyper spamming” the thruster. In my head it would counteract the weight of the body while still allowing the wheels to make contact. I haven’t went out to look for flat ground to check it out, but I feel like turning towards the community would bring results.
Interesting idea but no, using the thrusters to take some (but not all) of the "weight" off the wheels doesn't make any noticeable difference. What really makes the SRV go faster is the "flyving" technique you see here of tilting down forwards in the air and boosting. On these road circuits you can get over 50m/s and on the open country you can get up to speeds of several hundred meters per second.
That's way more complex than you think. I don't think FDev has the ressources to build race tracks in their game. Our best bet is to hope for someone from the modding community creating some third party software to enable us to set up MP races with all the fancy stuff like start-/finish gantries and checkpoints as well as split timing gates. Besides, there is the EDCopilot software, that has a built in time trial function. That's about the closest they have got so far, as far as I know.

@@Timberwolf69Yup, it's that kind of problem where it's indistinguishable from the actual toxic firehose of negativity that parts of the gaming world are so fond of. As a dev myself having worked literal months of my life day after day on shockingly complex problems under the hood, framework reworks, etc., that end up looking like a small change or improvement to users, that stuff is genuinely dismaying when those are the loudest voices. It's probably related or part of the Dunning-Kruger effect in some way, if I'm to be charitable.

Can’t be too hard to stick some in game race courses here, surely? Just some time gates? Start/finish line? Fdev could piss it, I’m sure! 😅
