I was actually thinking of what this keyboard earlier, but now that you have opened my eyes, I now know that I can play the digital roblox keyboard without any hassles. Thank you for your wisdom and knowledge.
This is a great idea. It could maybe be improved if the keys were less far apart, maybe put them in four or five lines in a block so it was less spread out.
at first, i was only somewhat interested. that was, until i found this to be the only keyboard capable of fixing even *_my_* programming mistakes. and then, i was informed that this could even replace my walking stick, and as an astute minimalist, i instantly needed this in my life. thank you, google, for once again helping me have a better and simpler life.
For some confused non-japanese speakers: They put the character 棒 after the word Gboard which is pronounced "bō" (also how the japanese pronounce the "boa" in board from keyboard-this is also what they meant when they talked about looking what's next to "key" from "keyboard") 棒 (Bō) is also the word for "pole" or "stick" So it's the Gboard "bō" (stick) version At 0:54 the woman says "a few people argued that it was "too adventurous" " the word for adventure in Japanese is "bōken" which includes the "bō" again (not the same character, but I'd like to believe it's intentional) At 1:30 they also mention becoming the "hope" of the keyboard world. Hope is pronounced "kibō" in Japanese which can sound like a shortened "keyboard" (pronounced kiibōdo in Japanese) In the complete sentence they also say "kibō to naru" for "to become the hope", so apart from the shorter i-sound and the d->t, it is basically the word for keyboard. At 1:53 they're talking about the memory stick mode still in development. But "memori" (目盛り) is also the word for the gradations on a ruler (like the scale), so memori-bō = ruler stick. They do use the word for memory "memorii" (メモリー) in the Japanese subtitles, but I thought that word choice was quite odd so I feel like 目盛り would be intentional. At 2:03 they're saying "棒に振る" which literally means to shake on a stick, but is an expression for "to waste", same usage of 棒! At 2:06 they're talking about your legs feeling like sticks (same word 棒) for your legs feeling tired which is an actual japanese expression. At 2:16 They say your new friend The word for friend here is 相棒 (aibō) which means closer to "pal" (so the word choice is intentional) and this word once again includes the character 棒 for stick. In the Japanese subtitles there's an extra Easter egg. They are talking about a wonderful life with the Gboard bou version. The word for "wonderful" in Japanese is 素敵 すてき (suteki) which is also said. But the subtitles mention ステッキ (sutekki) which means walking stick/cane. (with 素敵 in between brackets after it.)
