By all accounts she was very strategic, she just made the mistake of thinking her best chances of winning were to make it seem like she never backstabbed anyone instead of owning her game. I still think Todd and Parv deserve the win over her, but she’s not stupid the way she lets on

I am sure CBS wanted Tina but given she had won before and had such a bad showing last time it felt like Tina would have only come back if giving her daughter a once in a lifetime opportunity was part of the prize. I know many people like Katie. They’re just quiet. I think we want them to show emotion in they way we feel/express it. I also think that that’s extremely unfair. She’s tangentially related to survivor. She is on the show because of her mom. She also can’t help the way she is.
Courtney never actually wanted to play. She literally just submitted an application in just “as a joke” and she assumed that they would never actually pick her. But when she did, she decided to play along to see how far she can go in the interview process. Again, assuming that they’ll never actually cast her. When she was actually picked, she decided to play along, again assuming that her tribe mates would immediately boot her off first and she would basically get a free vacation.
And when she wasn’t voted off first, she decided to play along to see how long it would take for her to actually be voted out. And when that didn’t happen, she found herself still present on day 39. 🤔
Disagree with Katie being on this list, especially this high and especially above Julie. Imo she is just really calm (look at the immunity challenge that she won), quiet person who doesn't get overexcited too easily (unlike most of the players from modern era). She was also probably the least colorful player from the merge and I believe, because of that, she also received poor edit (I think it was even confirmed by some of other castawayas from that season). I'm not saying that she is some kind of mastermind or great player overall and maybe she struggled with playing sometimes (the fact, that she spent most of her time at the bottom probably didn't help her game), but to call her apathetic is a bit harsh. I think she wanted to be there more than some of the other players not included on that list, f. ex. Laura B from the same season...
I really wish you would’ve given Randy from Heroes vs villains an honorable mention. Him basically giving up on day 9 is really what saved Parvati from being the 1st boot potentially AGAIN and making it to day 39 AGAIN.

Started watching Australian Survivor. There's a player named Barry who gets voted out basically because he doesn't want to strategize at all. Just wanted to vote for tribemates at random.
I remember he was invisible for quite a few episodes and we were all like "I want to see more Barry". Then we realized he actually isn't playing the game at all, and as soon as he started talking about his non-stragey, he was voted out.
I think Katie was there to play and did play a good game but her mother even says that she doesn’t really express herself much so she would be glad if she dated Vytus. I had a fun time rooting for Katie.
As somebody who just submitted their first audition tape, I can’t imagine how some players get on the show and then refuse to play. I really hope I did a good job on my audition tape tho!!!

Tbf I think you’re kinda too harsh on Kaity, trust me I suffer the same problem as her despite being an athlete in high school and college, I thrived on competition but I had that same energy that showed no interest at all. I keep telling people that I can only show much that reflects the true me but they don’t believe me. This also put me in so much trouble in social events or dates when my encounters believe I’m bored of them when I’m totally not .. it’s an issue I’ve been struggling with this is why I relate so much to players like Gaven and Carter ..
I think you're right. It doesn't make sense to me that someone who doesn't want to be there would try at all at camp or in challenges. I think just isn't a super expressive person and normally they wouldn't cast someone like that but she Tina's daughter so they let her on. She even expressed that being eliminated was pretty tough on her. I think she wanted to play.

Colton got raked because he faked an injury, and whined like a 3 year old girl. He went on a massive rant in public instead of talking to Jeff privately, and laying things out, or using the counselling services available to cast members. Plus he was a massive jerk, so good riddance.

I will say that I think you're being unfair to Katie, there are a lot of reasons that someone might not express their feelings on their face and she herself said that she did want to be apart of things, she'd know her own feelings better than you or people trying to guess her feelings when they don't know her. I'm speaking as someone who has a hard time communicating with my face what I'm feeling, I'm lucky in the fact that my voice can be very expressive but that's not the case for everyone

In John rocker's defense he did try to help Val. She didn't listen. Then the other tribe acted on a wrong assumption then lambasted him for being racist. He actively did everything the opposite of what they thought and threw all the hate he got out of the game to his face. I don't fault the guy for saying he would punch Natalie if she was a man.

Courtney is awesome, I never knew she cared that little. Arguably the funniest contestant ever, she fails successfully at getting to the end. And I love her even more on HvV where she just craps on 80% of the villain's tribe. Sometimes I really wish Rob's alliance won over Russel's so we got more Courtney time.
People being recruited is sometimes funny because of how they don't know what's going on but also I feel bad for the people, like myself, who would die to be on it yet don't get cast.

Honestly I think Katie just isn't an emotional person, and it comes off as a lack of interest. I just don't think she would have put so much effort and thought into strategy if she didn't want to be there. Also she looked genuinely disappointed when Tina beat her out of redemption. I have a good friend who is very similar to this. There is such a lack of emotion present that it almost comes off as rude sometimes. Agreed. I was thinking the same thing. I can definitely relate to having resting nothing face when in a social setting for too long. It's not so much a lack of enjoying something and actually being bored as much as it is just being sapped of energy from trying to be open and outgoing for so long. If she's someone who is generally monotone and low energy in life, then I'm sure trying to change that for the game is exhausting. I get the vibe that she was just trying to be herself and be comfortable, rather than she didn't want to be there.

I think Katie just isn't a very expressive person. I remember people even gave her crap for seeming apathetic talking about her brother who recently died at the Survivor reunion.

Courtney is still one of my favorite players ever, probably for this reason since she had a VERY candid personality compared to everyone else.
I was also disappointed that Julie quit her season since I was rooting for her. She was low-key but played surprisingly well. I love a dark horse.

Started watching Australian Survivor. There's a player named Barry who gets voted out basically because he doesn't want to strategize at all. Just wanted to vote for tribemates at random.

I remember he was invisible for quite a few episodes and we were all like "I want to see more Barry". Then we realized he actually isn't playing the game at all, and as soon as he started talking about his non-stragey, he was voted out.
I did enjoy him giving double thumbs up in the opening intro credits.
I think Katie was there to play and did play a good game but her mother even says that she doesn’t really express herself much so she would be glad if she dated Vytus. I had a fun time rooting for Katie.
As somebody who just submitted their first audition tape, I can’t imagine how some players get on the show and then refuse to play. I really hope I did a good job on my audition tape tho!!!

its crazy that the people who have lived their entire lives watching survivor and dreaming of being on it are actually old enough to go on now and we're seeing them in these new seasons. ive been watching since i was a wee baby child, even though i missed a lot of seasons

Tbf I think you’re kinda too harsh on Kaity, trust me I suffer the same problem as her despite being an athlete in high school and college, I thrived on competition but I had that same energy that showed no interest at all. I keep telling people that I can only show much that reflects the true me but they don’t believe me. This also put me in so much trouble in social events or dates when my encounters believe I’m bored of them when I’m totally not .. it’s an issue I’ve been struggling with this is why I relate so much to players like Gaven and Carter ..
I think you're right. It doesn't make sense to me that someone who doesn't want to be there would try at all at camp or in challenges. I think just isn't a super expressive person and normally they wouldn't cast someone like that but she Tina's daughter so they let her on. She even expressed that being eliminated was pretty tough on her. I think she wanted to play.

IDK Katie could be just a really kind of nuetral person. Non-excitiable and reserved. Maybe.... maybe, idk. Cuase I honestly feel it's either she didn't care about being there, or she is just a quiet reserved person. Everyone else, it's obvious, but she seems genuinely hard to tell.

Colton got raked because he faked an injury, and whined like a 3 year old girl. He went on a massive rant in public instead of talking to Jeff privately, and laying things out, or using the counselling services available to cast members. Plus he was a massive jerk, so good riddance.
i’d also add purple kelly to the list- she just wanted a free vacation and to be voted out early but ended up on the young strong tribe in a majority alliance

I will say that I think you're being unfair to Katie, there are a lot of reasons that someone might not express their feelings on their face and she herself said that she did want to be apart of things, she'd know her own feelings better than you or people trying to guess her feelings when they don't know her.

In John rocker's defense he did try to help Val. She didn't listen. Then the other tribe acted on a wrong assumption then lambasted him for being racist. He actively did everything the opposite of what they thought and threw all the hate he got out of the game to his face. I don't fault the guy for saying he would punch Natalie if she was a man.

Courtney is awesome, I never knew she cared that little. Arguably the funniest contestant ever, she fails successfully at getting to the end. And I love her even more on HvV where she just craps on 80% of the villain's tribe. Sometimes I really wish Rob's alliance won over Russel's so we got more Courtney time.

There’s plenty of people like her in the real life that express joy/enthusiasm etc monotonously. That doesn’t mean that they’re not excited, it’s just who they are. Saying she didn’t want to be there just because she doesn’t express excitement to YOUR standards is not fair. Especially since she’s said on several occasions that she wanted to do it and literally everyone else on this list has said they didn’t want to.
Agreed. I was thinking the same thing. I can definitely relate to having resting nothing face when in a social setting for too long. It's not so much a lack of enjoying something and actually being bored as much as it is just being sapped of energy from trying to be open and outgoing for so long. If she's someone who is generally monotone and low energy in life, then I'm sure trying to change that for the game is exhausting. I get the vibe that she was just trying to be herself and be comfortable, rather than she didn't want to be there.
