KH1 is my favorite game of all time, truly a masterpiece. I love all the hidden interactions that are in the worlds, still an unmatched level of detail to this day. Modern Square and Disney still can't top the magic of the first game to this day.
Disney Infinity got me into Disney again. That's how I started follwing people in the community. Last figure i got was a production sample of Peter Pan.
Fun fact: when Disney Quest in Orlando closed in 2017 I believe was the year, they had an auction where they auditioned a lot of the arcade & pinball machines, etc. & to this day every so often at the arcade auctions in Winston Salem,NC you’ll see a Disney Quest game being auctioned. You can tell because of the credit button with the Mickey Mouse logo on where the coin door was. Please do more history on Disney arcades thank you.
I'm guilty of not latching onto Disney Infinity unfortunately,😭 think the figures weren't park specific enough for me to want to collect and spend money on, but I should've anyway lol Wii U was indeed slept on
Love this! Y'all got me missing DisneyQuest again lol. It was ahead of its time (and the tech available to them)! Iger has never shown interest in revitalizing or improving old projects that weren't "his" even when it makes tons of sense to do so! Videogames are more popular than ever, and obviously he finaally realizes this with the Epic games deal... having a space like Disneyquest is much more strategically valuable than the redundant NBA garbage he built.
I had Dance Dance Revolution Disney Mix for the Playstation at one point. Not sure if it's still around somewhere. Probably packed in a box. Played quite a few of the Disney games from the 90s on Sega Genesis as well.
I bought Disneyland Kinnect Adventures because I had JUST moved to Texas after spending my whole life in So Cal and having an AP for years. I was so homesick and it was nice to be able to just go into the park and hug Pluto.
Disney Quest: The remote control cars in the floor was the coolest. Plus, being older than you kids, the room full of like-new Asteroids machines was like heaven for me!
I loved the 90s individual handhelds for the movie games. I remember a pink handheld from beauty and the beast, and a white and blue one for the little mermaid one. They were so hard for me as a kid. I play a mobile Disney game now, Twisted Wonderland, as awesome Disney-Japanese (now English translated) Mobile game.
You should check out the new Nightmare Before Christmas update for Speedstorm. They reduced the framerate for the characters so it looks like it’s stop motion. It’s the last thing with Ken Page before his passing.
A fun game you missed, that's still worth playing if you enjoy old skating games is Disney's Extreme skating Adventure... It's essentially a clone of Tony Hawk Pro Skater, just a bit easier, but with great Toy Story, Lion King, and Tarzan stages
I remember getting picked to do the Aladdin VR as a little kid when it was being tested, then doing it again at Disney Quest as a high schooler and having the oddest deja vu
I just replayed Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 this summer and had a blast. Unfortunately though, I think I'm done with the franchise, partially because the story is way more complicated than it should be, but I also don't like that they seem to be moving away from the classic Disney elements. One of the best parts of the first two games is being able to explore classic worlds like Wonderland or the Beast's Castle, and a *lot* of Disney legends came back to reprise their roles. And KH3 felt so disconnected from the previous entries, with a story that goes nowhere and worlds that felt like more like Disney advertising than the more natural fun of the earlier worlds (except maybe the Pixar worlds). And what I've seen of the upcoming games doesn't excite me very much, because Sora's story should've wrapped up like 3 games ago.
Walt Disney World Quest Magical Racing game! I’m so glad you mentioned it, I low-key loved the game! Blizzard Beach, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, CTX were great tracks. Some stinkers & limited character lineup for sure.
The Capcom Ducktales game has such iconic music that it is reused in the Ducktales reboot. I will always morn the fate of the Epic Mickey and Infinity franchises.
I was hardcore Club Penguin Fan, i would go to innoventions in tomorrowland to play it when they had it. I got introduced to disney infinity and disneyland adventures there too
The disney xd show Tron uprising is a great series that’s so underrated, the movies bored me but I say I love tron entirely because of this show. it’s a gorgeous cartoon if anyone hasn’t watched it
Y'all forgot, there's DLC for Minecraft Bedrock Edition that's an official WDW world. I never got to try it out (I was working for MS Studios Quality when it came out but I wasn't on the team for testing the marketplace stuff sadly.)
Tom knowing his way around Universal Japan because of the Game Cube game reminds me of how I bought the Galaxy's Edge expansion for The Sims when I had to cancel a Disney trip due to lockdown. THEN, when I went into Batuu for the very first time during my Galactic Starcruser trip and I realized THE MOMENT I walked out of that hanger, that I knew were all of the scan points were. My friend Charlie said, "We have to find some crates near the Tie Echelon." and I was like, "Oh, they're over there." Then we had to go "behind Droid Depot" and I was like "Buh! THAT flipping place!" "Behind" Droid Depot is my Level 1 of Echo the Dolphin... I felt so dumb when I realized the exit door was the side of the building and not the back. I kept seeing confused people wearing the pin wandering around the back door to Droid Depot and I was like, "If y'all looking for the back, just keep the building on your left and follow it around." Then they would vanish around a corner and I would almost hear a distant, "OOOOH! There it is!"
That game was a gem ❤ with the real life theme park quests, the magic pins, the mini games like pirates and the Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise, customizing your room and character... Oh how I miss it
i know it's not a game, but in my opinion, Disney peaked with the Walt Disney World Explorer. In a time long before TH-cam and vloggers posing POV films, this was the next best thing to being in the park.
lol Surprised you didn't bring up the Tokyo DisneySea game Tom! and NAAAA the RAREWare Mickey's Racing Adventure was nearly as great as Diddy Kong Racing! Go back and play both, they're very similar imo...same engine.
Did anyone play a 90s CD-rom "game" called Walt Disney World Explorer? It wasn't as much a game as an interactive Disney World brochure but it was great...I think it came out in '96
Guys, if you are serious about doing Sea of Thieves, please please **PLEASE** make sure you do those Tall Tales on Safer Seas or you will see the worst of what the game has to offer: Other Players. -A guy with 4,000 hours in Sea of Thieves
55:08 Disney Speedstorm started off as a paid game for early access like Dreamlight Valley but became free to play a year later. It was about 50-70 bucks and you got like 4 racers plus bonus ones
The Game and Watch guy is/was an option in Super Smash Bros, unless I'm very much mistaken. So there is some chance that younger folks could have some idea that it was a thing.
I’m not sure if it would be considered a video game as it was more of a promotional education game but Walt Disney World Explorer for PC. I grew up in Michigan and would play this every year before our trips to WDW.
One of my favorite memories was a friend of mine, who was ahead of me in Kingdom Hearts 2, called me and was like... "Michelle! Michelle! MICKEY DOES A CAPE THROW!" Second favorite memory is my Mom's face as I told her about the thing with Goofy that caused Mickey to do the cape throw. EDIT: I put KH 1 instead of 2
Eh not entirely accurate Tom, the gamecube didn't do well, but Nintendo was still going GANGBUSTERS with the GBA and DS at that time. So at worst they'd just do portables, not software only. The funny thing is the Cube still has some of the best games of all time. Mario Kart Double Dash is widely considered the best Mario Kart, and there are still competitive Smash Bros Melee tourneys to this day! My favorite console for sure
and Yee Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are GOATED, it's a shame Disney didn't partner with Nintendo instead of Universal, considering the entire premise and world of Super Mario was directly inspired by Disney parks and the Nintendo execs' trips to the US Parks.
As a huge Kingdom Hearts fan I can't help but feel disappointed in what they had to say about it. I get it though, not everyone is into action JRPG's. Also the story is rather simple up until KH3D
The section on KH really sadened me. It's my favorite series of all time and undoubtedly the most "Disney" thing the company has ever done. I hope you two can give it another fresh start someday, It's truly not that hard to follow if you stick with it.
Yeah, KH really isn't that complicated or confusing. It just sounds a lot worse when summarized into a shorter length of time and with things simplified for summarization. A franchise doesn't last over 20 years and have the the big hype of the final character in Smash Bros by not being good.
"I'm sure some of it could be story exposition that's just stupid." - I'm a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts. I've played every game to completion. This is really the reason - it's not the Japanese to English translation. It's drawn out with a ton of made up nonsense.
Just wanted to point out, Kingdom Hearts came out back when it was Squaresoft, before they merged with Enix. If I'm not mistaken, it was the last game released under Squaresoft.
I love this topic so much. As an 80s kid the parks and the games and the movies and the shows, we really had it the best.
These long format discussions are always my favourite!
Haha wow I never thought I'd hear Tom mention the Angry Video Game Nerd, what a crossover
KH1 is my favorite game of all time, truly a masterpiece. I love all the hidden interactions that are in the worlds, still an unmatched level of detail to this day. Modern Square and Disney still can't top the magic of the first game to this day.

15:40 to be fair, Ecco the Dolphin is one of the most esoteric games ever made
Epic Mickey 🎉

Walt Disney World Quest: Magical Racing Tour on playstation was awesome, I played that game so much growing up
My two year old asks to listen to “Disney news” (aka podcast too) everytime we get in the car 😂
I'm guilty of not latching onto Disney Infinity unfortunately,😭 think the figures weren't park specific enough for me to want to collect and spend money on, but I should've anyway lol

Also, interestingly Pirates at DisneyQuest was essentially a beta for Midway Mania

We used to love Kim Possible (and subsequently Agent P) games at Epcot.
I had the nomad and a bunch of portable tvs 😂😂😂
Nick & Tom?
This should be fun!
Hello From Phoenix Arizona 🌡 🔥
The Capcom Disney titles on NES & SNES were amazing. The ones based on the Disney Afternoon properties are the best ones.
Suprised you didn’t mention the Roger Rabbit game from 89 in the movie tie in
Nick you can still kinda get into VMK since it's been revived by fans lol
I loved the 90s individual handhelds for the movie games. I remember a pink handheld from beauty and the beast, and a white and blue one for the little mermaid one. They were so hard for me as a kid.

I’m a Minecraft guy and go on the Disney park servers

Nick, I'm with you, let's get the clay!!LaurieO
There was also ultimate ride in 2001 a Disney roller coaster designing game for computer
I remember getting picked to do the Aladdin VR as a little kid when it was being tested, then doing it again at Disney Quest as a high schooler and having the oddest deja vu
My favourite Disney video game is Villains' Revenge. A great concept of a game, and surprisingly creepy and frightening at times.
I just replayed Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 this summer and had a blast. Unfortunately though, I think I'm done with the franchise, partially because the story is way more complicated than it should be, but I also don't like that they seem to be moving away from the classic Disney elements.

I still play ToonTown Rewritten. That Disney lets them exist is one of the coolest things the company has done. Amazing game.
The Capcom Ducktales game has such iconic music that it is reused in the Ducktales reboot. I will always morn the fate of the Epic Mickey and Infinity franchises.
I was hardcore Club Penguin Fan, i would go to innoventions in tomorrowland to play it when they had it.

as a die hard kingdom hearts fan, hearing that portion of this podcast had me shaking my head with every sentence
saying you didnt like the gameplay mechanics of one of the best action RPGs ever because you wanted to just "run around and explore" explains alot
Ok

Let’s go!!!
Im at like 20 min in and I wonder if they’ll talk about split second
Thanks I was asking you talk about epic Mickey remake that made my day I play that game on the wii!
We love the Toy Story mania game. We “practice” all the time.
lol Surprised you didn't bring up the Tokyo DisneySea game Tom! and NAAAA the RAREWare Mickey's Racing Adventure was nearly as great as Diddy Kong Racing! Go back and play both, they're very similar imo...same engine.
Speedstorm is mid af. It's litterally just the same game (and engine) as that mobile iphone racing game, ported to console with Disney characters smh
The less that DisneySea game is mentioned, the better lol
Did anyone play a 90s CD-rom "game" called Walt Disney World Explorer? It wasn't as much a game as an interactive Disney World brochure but it was great...I think it came out in '96
I did lol
@@WDWNT wish I still had it, what a time capsule.

Disney Emoji Blitz is still going. I've been playing it for years.

The insane amount of cdi Zelda and Mario ytp is alarming lol! My first Disney game was WDW racing.

That was Kingdom Hearts II. You hardly see Mickey at all in Kingdom Hearts I.
@@michellee1190 That's KH2.
Fixed! Thanks.
I'm 1 hour and 25 minutes into this podcast, and if y'all don't mention Disney Emoji Blitz, I'ma be sad.
Yay!

I take back this comment…you mentioned both right after I submitted it.😂
