Uh, yeah Fred…. When u start off with such a wide range of bourbon ages (well aged helps), f-ing magic can happen when they’re mixed, by a pro or a even non pro. thats the art/science of blending. I’ve had the luxury of playing some really old stuff (that was not drinkable on its own) and amazed myself how good blends can be from components that are qualitatively incomplete or imbalanced in some way on their own. The trick is matching up + attributes with other components that cancel or compliment the - attributes each component. im willing to bet money that none of the individual components come close to the full experience of the blend!
Have a store near me that has single barrel bottles that came from the same rickhouse one from the middle 5 floor and one from the middle 6 floor 7 bottles deep. I'm going to pick up two each. Great review on this rare release for those of us who will never see this!!
You mentioned a Four Roses product being your favorite made in the 21st century. Would love to see a video on a list of your favorite bourbons you’ve ever tasted.
This review got me thinking about how many barrels are used for media samples. Also is it necessary to do media samples on releases such as this that everyone would buy given the chance. I always love the history you bring to your reviews. Thanks
Just got an email a few hours ago stating that I did not get selected to purchase this very bottle. I'm crushed, but this was an excellent review and history of 4R.
You should feel special it is amazing. You get some free samples because of all your hard work writing and creating content, teaching us now the very best brand send your friends send you free samples of the best stuff on earth. dream come true and we are all a little bit more than a little bit jealous thanks you.
Now I'm curious to know which year you didn't care for. If it was the 2021, these others must be in another stratosphere because I thought it was incredible. Another top tier review, Fred. I might have to join the club.
Congrats on that. Being in Maryland I have see this once in a museum case. Didn’t even ask the price for it because when I asked the price of another bottle, it was so ridiculous I figured I was not even going to waste my time.
In foreign markets it is yearly around half way through January for about a week but for a markup to 250 to 350 and virtually the only allocated bourbon which is except for wild turkey travel only releases.
Composite:
OBSV 25 YO 5%
OESV 16 YO 20%
OESV 12 YO 35%
OESK 14 YO 40%

Another Fred Minnick review that will make this bottle unattainable for me. Great review Fred. I'll continue to live vicariously thru you.
It’s unattainable regardless. You have to win a lottery just to get the chance to buy it.

This video exists - I wouldn't know what to search for but it's out there and FR LE 2013 was chosen as #1
It's his "best bourbon's of the century so far" video series. No. 1 for Fred was the 4R LE 125th Ed.
That gift box with the blend AND components was next level goodness gracious! 🥳👍
Love all the reviews coming out from you lately! Keep it going Fred!
Kevin Mitchell!!! One of my favorite players back in the day. The barehanded fly ball catch in the outfield was GOATED
Dude was a beast!
One of my favorite all time Giant
@@dlucy1231 to me he was a Reds player! 😂

Thank you the Four Roses history lesson.

Would love the link, to learn more about the Four Roses history, I found it very interesting.
My sample that came from 4roses clocks in at 112 pf. Any idea why
that sample kit is AWESOME
Loving all of the reviews lately! Wish I could get my hands on a bottle of this. Been really enjoying Four Roses bottles lately.
I need to get out of Michigan to some other states and see if I can find that big ass pack of four roses with the individual component bottles.
wish they sold that kit to the public
cross your fingers and if i've learned anything, we can request it and sometimes it happens!
Kevin Mitchell! I love the old baseball reference!

Why is Cream of Kentucky (at least the rye) so poorly reviewed if Jim Rutledge is at the helm?
Love this review and all the history! Four Roses is incredible.
I read somewhere that the 25 made up 5 per cent. Don't remember the rest

That media box is fucking amazing.
I am sure that this will be one of those fantasies I have where I walk into my local store and there it is on the shelf for retail. 😎🥃👽
this happened to me. had heart palpitations.

Always one of my favorites
Fred, are you rocking a GWAR shirt in this video? 😀
Great review, as always!

Good thing I won the Mellow Moments raffle! Oh wait.. I did not.
Cheers! 🥃
I will never see that anywhere near me 😢
And if by some chance you do it will be over priced.
Kevin Mitchell was fire back in the day
First the new Makers Mark, now this. This is going to be an expensive year but hey, can’t live forever.
Just got my email telling me I didn’t win
It blows my mind how many ppl on whiskey tube who can’t properly swirl a glen. Props to adhd!
I commented before I saw that. At least I had the one right
I'm waiting for you to make another negative review such as the one for Five Trail.
You had me until you said bananas foster, if there's one note I can't stand ...it's bananas
Just won the lottery for a bottle...now I have to get up there and get it!
