Each one of the therapists at my clinic make around $5,500 a month. Our clinic is in a high traffic area, and we are all independent contractors. On average, we each work around 20 hours a week. Bottom line is there's no secret to being successful. Either you suck at your job, or you don't. If you aren't good at business or marketing you probably won't be a successful massage therapist. You need to be able to sell yourself. If you can't just find a different career. It's that simple.

I’m struggling to start a reflexology business as I can’t afford to offer full availability as need to work my current retail job too. I’m starting just one day a week. Am I kidding myself that this can work and build up to be my only job. I so so love being a therapist!

This is my second time around but first time actually stepping out on my own. I have been on the fence, not knowing what direction to go in to build. The upside: It’s a cash business with no inventory. The downside is that you can only service one customer per hour/ 2 hours. That’s a limitation like all medically -related businesses and hairdressers.

Thankyou ! Im finishing doing my diploma in remedial massage therapy in dec 19. Feeling a bit daunted at getting out there . Ideally i want to have a clinic with other therapists but not a clue yet on how to get started. I will work for myself for a little while and research reseach and finally put my money where my mouth is. Commit!

I agree with you that marketing is #1 and what you say about sales. You're also right: a mental shift in sales is just connecting people who want a service!
